"Those guys have caught up with us, and they've blocked the original route with armored vehicles. Plan B!"
"Got it, got it, no need to worry, I'll handle it."
The sound of her companion came through her earpiece. Camellia raised an eyebrow, feeling quite pleased as she spun the steering wheel with one hand, humming a pleasant tune like a huntress guiding her prey to the slaughterhouse.
She caught sight of a few pursuing Land Air Vehicles in the rearview mirror, resting her cheek on her hand, shifting gears and clutch, turning the wheel. The ferocious metal beast was tamed by the girl, roaring as it smashed through a nearby iron railing, sharply turning onto another road, releasing several conical roadblocks and spewing out a mass of purple smoke; the stray arcs within could disrupt the warning systems of the Land Air Vehicles.
The pursuing Land Air Vehicle crashed straight into those conical roadblocks, its entire body launched into the air by a tremendous force, landing on the road not far from the Jeep, with its hover drive soon ceasing to function and sparks flying out.
Camellia smirked with satisfaction, handling the chase with ease, leading over a dozen Land Air Vehicles into the maze-like old city; due to the industrial pollution from Dragonfly Town, most military enterprises had been dumping waste gas and water here, and this old city had been deserted for over a decade. Mountain Crow's family planned to demolish it entirely within the next three years, but for now, it was a playground for Camellia alone.
With a sudden swerve, Camellia's Jeep ejected a giant high-tensile net, ensnaring three pursuing Land Air Vehicles mid-air; the electronic fog spreading from the net immediately incapacitated those vehicles.
"Camellia, stop fooling around, the surveillance systems are about to restore. If you make a bigger fuss, those military drones linked with Cosmic Heavy Industries' smart network will be unstoppable."
A companion's urgent shout came through her earpiece, to which Camellia casually waved her hand: "Relax, I'll shake them off, give me two more minutes. The bigger the fuss, the better. I want more people to know our name and make those villains shake with fear."
Her companions, knowing her fiery temperament, said nothing more. Everyone knew that this dark-red-haired girl was spoiled and unruly, listening to no one like a pampered little princess, yet somehow, she brought in a massive amount of funding after joining Dark Night Walker, elevating the once-obscure organization to fame within a month, making almost all of Dragonfly Town aware of them.
[Camellia: You, You, did you see that?]
[You: That's incredible.]
Camellia proudly tossed her head back.
[Camellia: Of course, don't worry, I promised you. What I say goes. No one in Dragonfly Town would dare touch you.]
[You: You promised all of Chichu Heaven before.]
Camellia let out a satisfied sound, sending Xu Xiaoyou a message even amidst the high-speed chase.
[Camellia: Did I say that?]
[Camellia: Whatever, I'm speeding up!]
With both hands on the wheel, Camellia fixed her gaze on the passing scenery, her bitter-flavored lollipop slowly turning sweet as she floored the accelerator, plunging into a tunnel and leaving the vehicles behind.
The Jeep drove smoothly, and just at the last second before her deadline, she spotted a slowing-down truck she'd caught up with. As the truck's rear door opened, several companions were already waiting for her, their voices clearly audible without needing communication devices.
"Camellia, if you keep this up, we won't take you on the next mission!" the ponytailed girl with a Sparrow mask quietly scolded.
"It's every time. If anything unexpected happens one day, all of us could get caught because of you. Have you thought about the consequences?" the big sister with an Owl mask folded her arms expressionlessly.
"I've been saying from the start that we shouldn't have let this person join us; eventually, they'll get us all in trouble." The boy with a Night Owl mask spoke coldly.
Another heavily modified Jeep backed out of the truck's compartment. On it, Camellia saw a kindly elderly man with a few hawk-like sharpness in his deep, serene eyes, with the blank license plate changing to match her Jeep's.
Camellia gave the old man an OK gesture. He was the old butler who had watched her grow up, always by her side no matter what, making Camellia trust him infinitely. No matter how big of a mess she left, it would always get cleaned up as long as he was there, as it had been since she was a child.
Hitting the gas, the Jeep exhaled heavily, launching into the truck's compartment. As the door closed again, the once-empty tunnel was left with only one Jeep still driving, pulling off a switcheroo trick.
It wasn't long before the tunnel's silence was shattered by a chorus of honking horns as more trucks and private cars appeared ahead. The group's truck seamlessly merged with them, and together they followed the private cars out of the tunnel.
The drivers of these private cars didn't understand why they were gathered here, only knowing they received a handsome sum of credit points for driving here at night and maintaining a certain speed.
When the city broadcast announced that the pursued vehicle was entering this tunnel, the drivers simultaneously realized something and accelerated.
As the Jeep burst from the tunnel, Celestial Eye's surveillance resumed signal, scanning the license plate, locking onto the vehicle, and immediately sending an alert to Mountain Crow's family. Countless Land Air Vehicles pursued the Jeep, finally forcing it to a stop by the roadside.
A member of the Mountain Crow family got out of the car, cursing: "Damn, it's such bad luck every day. Anyone dares to challenge our Mountain Crow family. We finally caught you; we'll make you pay!"
"Get out of the car!"
Someone banged on the window, while a crowd gathered, mostly Mountain Crow men but also some innocent onlookers.
The Jeep, like an injured beast, lay motionless as its heavy breath dissipated with the dying engine. A disgraced Mountain Crow brawler spat, his arm flexing with bulging muscles as he punched through the Jeep's window, reaching in to grab the occupant only to freeze.
Everyone froze, as the car was empty, no girl, no Chichu Tianyi; they had been fooled.
Just then, a sharp-eyed person reacted, pointing in horror at a Chichu doll on the empty shell: "There's a bomb!"
The fabric-sewn Chichu doll emitted the girl's uncontrollable, crazed laughter, clapping its short round hands, shaking violently, eyes glowing red with the beeping frequency quickening. Time almost froze at the last moment as everyone around the car dove to the ground.
The Chichu doll's head tilted, slumping over the driver's seat, its stubby limbs twitching before going still, the girl's teasing voice rang out:
"It won't explode, you all got played, fools."
