I Only Marry Widows

Chapter 3: Impersonating King Xiang

Lu Chengfeng looked at the white lotus on the old monk's fingertip and withdrew three feet, as if avoiding a viper or scorpion, his head shaking like a rattle.

"This treasure is truly beyond my fortune to bear, Master, please give it to someone else!"

The old monk's face was calm as though he had long foreseen this scene before him. "This white lotus is formed by causality and born of creation. If it leaves my fingertip, it will seek out a predestined person."

"If you do not take it, you may regret it for the rest of your life."

Lu Chengfeng was a person whose heart was as firm as iron and would not be swayed by three words. However, after hearing these words, he inexplicably felt his heart skip a beat, as if it were some sort of omen.

He furrowed his brow slightly, "Master, why did you choose me?"

"Without the bonds of causality, one does not have the qualification to take this white lotus. You and that Red Dragon are already entwined in causality, hence the opportunity for this creation." The old monk looked at him, speaking slowly and steadily.

Lu Chengfeng was silent for a long time, then asked, "What is the master's purpose?"

The old monk said, "Someday, if you receive the Red Dragon's creation, I will use causality as a guide and share in the creation. You'll gain the opportunity to become an Immortal, and I will recover from my injuries, that's all."

Lu Chengfeng didn't believe a single word of the old monk's last sentence.

Once he accepts this white lotus, he fears that ultimately, he will be completely devoured by the other party with no chance of survival.

After contemplating deeply, Lu Chengfeng still refused to take this white lotus.

The old monk sighed, "Everything comes from conditions, everything is fate, alas, alas!"

The white lotus on his fingertip slowly rotated and then flew off his fingertip.

Lu Chengfeng's heart was inexplicably restless and anxious, his brow furrowing. Seeing the white lotus about to disappear, he suddenly had a stroke of insight, and in shock, he opened his mouth to ask loudly, "If I don't take this white lotus, who will it fall to?"

"Destiny is predetermined; creation is as heaven-made." The old monk slowly said, "You are someone outside causality creation; this item should fall into King Xiang's mansion."

Before the old monk finished his sentence, Lu Chengfeng's face changed dramatically, leaping up to grab the white lotus.

But the white lotus vanished into thin air before him, disappearing without a trace like sand through fingertips.

"Old monk, quickly bring that white lotus back for me." Lu Chengfeng said, his face ashen. "I've decided to take this white lotus."

The old monk remained silent, and only after a long time did he say, "All is formed by causality. You wholeheartedly reject it, so the white lotus seeks its own master. I am powerless."

"Amitabha, oh good, oh good!"

Lu Chengfeng was so furious that he wished he could crack open the old monk's skull. With burning anxiety, he could no longer deal with this old fellow and turned to leave.

With a bang, the already fragile door was opened.

Fierce winds and rain swept in through the doorway.

Lu Chengfeng charged into the night, disappearing quickly into the storm.

With the wind and rain clashing, the temple door was slammed against the wall, knocking heavily, the pile of firewood shaking violently before being extinguished by rain pouring in.

The temple fell into darkness, and the old monk's figure disappeared without a trace, as if it had never appeared.

Inside the temple, the Vajra King Buddha, holding a Vajra Pestle, wore a stern expression, seemingly unaffected by the raging storm and pouring rain, remaining unmoved, as if eternally so.

...

At this moment, inside, Lu Chengfeng truly wished to cut down the old monk with a sword; that white lotus was evidently the root of all trouble. Having obtained the white lotus, it means facing an endless battle against the Red Dragon, with only one survivor.

If the survivor was the Red Dragon, the hidden Immortal would flay and draw out its sinews, leaving not even bones behind.

If the person holding the white lotus survived, they would still fall into the monk's hands.

No matter what kind of creation the white lotus holds, obtaining it leads only to a dead end.

This was the reason Lu Chengfeng insisted on refusing the white lotus, but he didn't expect the old monk to be so despicable and actually give the white lotus to Zhu Yuxian.

Upon hearing the words "King Xiang's mansion," he sensed something was wrong, but he still was a step too late.

After running through the storm for a long while, Lu Chengfeng gradually calmed down.

"If that white lotus truly recognizes Zhu Yuxian as its master, it would be too late even if I returned now."

Lu Chengfeng gazed at the profound night, his eyes becoming deep and distant.

"The Martial World's waters are deeper than I imagined."

"The old monk, and those two Immortals implied by him, these are three Immortals... whether there are more, I do not know."

"Heaven and Earth, Qianyuan Golden Tripod, if what the monk says is true, then these two are intimately connected with the Celestial Law-Controlling Sect and the long-extinct Great Chu Dynasty."

"Out of the three Immortal Scriptures in the Martial World, two have already birthed Immortals, what about the Great Five Elements Extinction Divine Light Sword?"

Lu Chengfeng took a deep breath, only to feel that looming over the stormy night sky were colossal figures seated in the heavens above, overlooking the mortal world.

"According to the monk, Ninth Transformation of the Primordial Spirit is a crucial stage in establishing foundations."

"Each transformation requires condensing a talisman; after nine transformations, once the nine talismans are unified, one can evolve into divine techniques, confirm the Path of Divine Power, and ascend to the Immortal Realm."

"Cultivation of divine techniques begins with the First Layer of Celestial Human, and each talisman condensed is significant. With complete divine technique heritage, simply following the process eventually allows the nine talismans to merge into one, forming the prototype of divine techniques."
