Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 149: Let Me Help You! (3)

Through the stammered narration of the other party, several people roughly understood the events that had taken place during this period.

Just as they had anticipated, problems indeed arose with the city wall.

The note they left hadn't taken effect, as it wasn't due to a lack of knights guarding the walls that allowed the undead to breach the defenses, but because sections of the walls where the undead gathered had collapsed.

The gaps caused by the collapse were exceptionally wide, utterly unrepairable, and the undead swarmed into the city through these gaps. Under attacks from both inside and outside, the walls quickly fell completely.

Hearing this, Han'er's expression turned particularly fierce, and he couldn't help but curse, "Beasts."

Sirena, seen as the Holy City by the kingdom's people, had its walls reinforced and was several degrees thicker than even the capital of the Mikel Kingdom. Moreover, pilgrims from across the nation would inspect the bricks and stones for damage and perform repairs voluntarily.

If no one had been sabotaging behind the scenes, the walls would never have collapsed, and the locations of the collapses were far too coincidental.

It was evident someone had first lured the undead to gather and then deliberately destroyed the walls!

The rescued pedestrian continued describing the city's situation.

After the undead entered Sirena City District, they began attacking indiscriminately, including the Spirit Medicine Sect; all major sect cathedrals not only failed to stop the undead but became an all-you-can-eat buffet for them instead.

This rescued group originally believed in the God of Wealth and intended to hide in the Business Church.

However, they saw from afar the undead rushing in droves into the Business Church. The undead blocked the entrance and exit doors, and the believers inside the church struggled desperately, yet no one could escape through the doors.

Seeing such a tragic scene, the group decided to change their destination.

They heard that among the entirety of Sirena City District, only the Soul Light Cathedral had not fallen.

The undead could not approach the area surrounding the Soul Light Cathedral, it was the only still safe place.

After listening to the pedestrian's account, the identity of the saboteur behind the scenes became self-evident.

After hearing the current situation, Erin's compassion swelled, and she immediately wanted to reveal the True Divine Body to clear out the undead in the city. Fortunately, Wu Chang's True Self was quick to act, pulling her back.

"If you had acted when the walls first collapsed, it would have been in time, but now that the undead are everywhere, with just you alone, even if revealing the True Divine Body, how would you be able to kill them all?"

Erin wanted to break away from Wu Chang's grip, but without revealing the True Divine Body, she couldn't contend with Wu Chang's 200 points of power. Revealing the True Divine Body, she feared harming Wu Chang, and could only say:

"But I can't just stand by and watch the tragedy unfold."

Wu Chang advised:

"At the rate the undead are attacking ordinary people, those outside the Soul Light Cathedral who haven't hidden are likely already dead. Those who survived the first wave probably aren't in danger for the time being. Going with me to the Soul Light Cathedral to ensure it's safe from undead attacks is the way to protect more people."

"Moreover, if you recklessly use power due to Fire Master being the cause, he might take the risk to sacrifice all believers and escape this plane. Only by eliminating Fire Master can we fundamentally stop this disaster and prevent him from turning more cities into another Sirena in the future."

Though Erin didn't want to let the undead rampage unchecked, she had to admit Wu Chang's words were persuasive to her.

Gods aren't omnipotent, and being in the Desolate Realm, she's also bound by its rules. Even transforming into a Power Angel, she couldn't instantly and precisely eradicate all undead without letting Fire Master escape.

After a brief hesitation, she could only endure it, following Wu Chang True Self and Han'er to escort the group of ordinary people toward the Soul Light Sect.

The group reached the Soul Light Cathedral and saw a dense crowd gathered around it, using the cathedral as the core.

The district where the Soul Light Cathedral stood seemed to have a boundary line. The undead feared approaching the cathedral and dared not step a fraction inside.

Those near death, occasionally collapsing and being suppressed after turning into undead by the Soul Light Knight, continuously reminded everyone that their current safety depended entirely on the divine might of the Soul Light Church.

The faith of the believers in the Soul Light Sect had never been as firm as at this moment.

Tens of thousands of believers knelt toward the Soul Light Cathedral, sincerely praying for a miracle to appear again, to dispel the Blood Moon and the undead.

On the viewing platform at the top of the cathedral, Fire Master stood beside the Tree of Miracles, gazing at the crowd below with intoxication.

He glanced at the swaying Tree of Miracles beside him and felt the time had come.

He waved his hand, and the Undying Soul Fire on the cathedral's top surged, accompanied by the majestic toll of the bell in the bell tower.

The bell and soul fire caused all kneeling believers to lift their heads and look toward the cathedral's top.

Soon after, they saw the Undying Soul Fire spread like a red carpet, slowly descending from the cathedral's height towards the center of the square. People in the square made way, creating space for the descending Undying Soul Fire.

Fire Master descended slowly along the red carpet formed by the Undying Soul Fire, appearing almost as a deity.

The believers had never seen such a scene; during the ascendance of the Great Sage of the Spirit Medicine Sect into the lunar sky years ago, it seemed no grander than this.

Praise for Fire Master erupted from the crowd, with many even viewing him as a representative of the deity.

Fire Master walked through the crowd, reaching the edge where the masses of undead outside were directly visible.

He turned with a smile and said to the believers, "Do not fear, the Lord will bless us."

Though his voice wasn't loud, every believer heard it clearly, and under his lead, they began praying together.

Meanwhile, Wu Chang's main body followed a cart transporting bricks underground and entered a special secret passage on the first level of the Soul Light Cathedral.

Only after entering the passage did he discover why the exterior of the Soul Light Cathedral had so few bricks imbued with Blood Moon Power, yet the entire cathedral exuded such a powerful aura.

It turned out the Soul Light Cathedral was divided into three layers!

Between the outer and inner layers, a secret interlayer was built, all its bricks made by undead, eroded by Blood Moon Power.

Most of the specially produced bricks from underground were transported to the interlayer through secret paths.

These Mikel citizens, once seeking eternal peace, were buried in the Kingdom's Great Cemetery, eroded by Blood Moon Power into undead, and reshaped by Fire Master into bricks of the Soul Light Cathedral, witnessing Fire Master's ambition and how he led Sirena step by step into the Abyss.

If Wu Chang were these undead, he imagined their spirits wouldn't find any peace.

He could feel these bricks yearning for true liberation.

Gazing at the almost completely built interlayer, Wu Chang took out the Soul Cleansing Banner.

How could Fire Master, having orchestrated all this, hide in his shell, waiting comfortably for a divine miracle?

Only by placing him in crisis, with no retreat, can Fire Master be better motivated, to spur him into pondering ways to trigger a miracle.

Through the True Self, he saw Fire Master leading believers in long prayers without truly summoning a miracle; each time reaching the climax, it stopped just short.

Is the plan not progressing?

Don't panic, I've come to assist you!
