Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 192: My God Wants to Meet You (8000-Word Chapter)

Wu Chang returned home from the Red Wave Space to find Erin uncharacteristically not studying, but instead watching a movie.

Three sticky notes were affixed to the screen, handwritten with many names. The top of the sticky notes had a title: "Twenty Movies to Let You Experience the Varied Facets of Life."

"Erin, what are you doing?" Wu Chang asked curiously.

Erin looked away from the screen, glanced at Wu Chang, and said, "Studying humans."

Wu Chang sat down next to Erin and asked, "Why the sudden interest in humans? Is it because of me?"

He meant it as a joke, but unexpectedly, Erin answered seriously:

"It's because of you. When you read that thank-you letter from the survivor, you appeared very complex; I wasn't purely happy for the appreciation you received. I feel that this isn't good. I never experienced this before."

"Recently, I heard someone say that movies best express the subtle emotions between people, so I found some classic films to study."

Wu Chang found Erin's seriousness adorable and tried to suppress his laughter to avoid making Erin think he was mocking her.

Erin was actually analyzing herself over the Li Yubin matter. He wanted to tell her directly that Li Yubin, unlike others, was just lusting after him.

But he held back; maybe this was an opportunity for Erin to truly begin understanding human emotions. It's something only comprehensible when one figures it out on their own; interference from others can backfire.

"Good luck then." He shrugged, preparing to leave to improve his abilities, but something came to mind, and he turned back.

"By the way, if you're trying to understand your feelings for me, watching 'The Untouchables' won't help."

Although Wu Chang considered 'The Untouchables' a good movie, watching a streetwise black man take care of a disabled white man wouldn't enlighten Erin's current state. Instead of 'The Untouchables,' 'White Album' might be a better choice.

But Erin was as pure as a blank slate, too easily influenced. If it inadvertently opened a strange door for her, and she ended up watching 'School Days' and then stabbed him, that would be trouble.

After parting with Erin, Wu Chang sat alone in the training room, ready to upgrade the Thunder Skill Fragment.

The Thunder Skill Fragment was a product of merging two cultivation techniques, thus raising its cultivation level, making the cost in Rotten Silver Coins much lower than other techniques capped at Level A.

Even so, increasing the Thunder Skill Fragment from B to A required 150,000 Rotten Silver Coins.

It seemed expensive, but compared to the 120,000 needed to upgrade Space Magic from C to B, it was much cheaper.

Completing the Silent Route Dungeon left Wu Chang with 97,500 Rotten Silver Coins, seemingly still far from enhancing the Thunder Skill Fragment. However, now that the Thunder Skill Fragment had reached B-Level, moving beyond pure skills to a true cultivation technique, its benefits were apparent.

The transformation into a true cultivation technique enabled it to function seamlessly within the body like those in cultivation novels, allowing personal advancement through practice.

In the Silent Route Dungeon, Wu Chang used a modified baptism ceremony by Cui Chengze to absorb a significant amount of Mystical Energy from the Shipwreck Belt; in the final ceremony and the bloodline awakening ceremony, he absorbed a large amount of energy from the remains of the Evil God.

Unlike other Secret Magic Knights, Wu Chang absorbed these energies not by force but by converting and absorbing them through the training method found in the Thunder Skill Fragment.

Most of the energy was used for his reincarnation costs, but inevitably, some energy served as a toll, converting into Thunder Spiritual Power.

These two training sessions provided him with the equivalent of 60,000 Rotten Silver Coins worth of energy.

If not for the complete demise of the Evil God's remains and the consequent disappearance of the Shipwreck Belt, returning to the Silent Route Dungeon for several baptism ceremonies in the Shipwreck Belt might have allowed the Thunder Technique to automatically upgrade to S-Level.

If it were a few dozen days earlier, Wu Chang would have chosen to wait and see if the next Plane provided a training utopia, saving a sum of Rotten Silver Coins.

But now he couldn't.

With continuous actions from the secret organization, from causing dungeons to become uncontrollable to attacking the Four Major Organizations, he felt a massive sense of crisis looming behind him, compelling him to accelerate forward without any delay.

No one knows which will come first, an accident or tomorrow. He must ensure that when danger arrives, he is in his best state.

He hesitated for a moment, then gritted his teeth and chose to upgrade the Thunder Skill Fragment to A.

In the Abyssal Game, S-Level is a rarity, unobtainable for most players. For the vast majority, A-Level is the highest tier.

"You have upgraded the Thunder Skill Fragment to A-Level, reaching its limit. Your Life Attribute increases by 10 points, Energy Attribute by 20 points, Inspiration Attribute by 5 points, and Will Attribute by 15 points."

Upgrading the Thunder Skill Fragment to A-Level meant he had mastered the pinnacle of Thunder Technique in the Desolate Realm under normal conditions.

In a trance, Wu Chang's consciousness floated, similar to the time he broke through the Inspiration barrier, now entering an Out-of-Body Experience again.

Except this time, he didn't see a Plane barrier but five Thunder Realms brimming with lightning.

Knowledge from the Thunder Skill Fragment appeared in his mind; these five Thunder Realms represented the Five Thunders in the Daoist Technique.

The cultivation technique he obtained from Lei Hu was called the Commentary on the Fragment of the Five Thunders Technique. Upgrading the Thunder Skill Fragment to A-Level unlocked the new capability of the Five Thunders Technique.
