Traveler of the River of Time and Space

Chapter 6: Expansion 1_2

Advancing from a Little Demon to a Sharp Claw Demon no longer requires spending Soul Value; it only needs consuming 20 points of Power of Slaughter.

Currently.

The resources that Su Ziyu possesses are — 60 points of Soul Value, 9 Demon Gene Points, 20 Insect Race Gene Points, 5200 points of Power of Slaughter, and several other Soul Crystal Stones.

Soul Value signifies the amount of population.

And Power of Slaughter is used to advance the troop types. The stronger the demon, the more Power of Slaughter is consumed. Advanced demons even need to consume Demon Gene Points.

Currently, only 2 Demon Gene Points were consumed when incubating an Enchanting Demon.

"With more Soul Value, we can have a population burst."

"With more Power of Slaughter, we need to improve the quality of the troop types," Su Ziyu contemplated, resting his chin on his hand.

Thinking along these lines.

If the target of hunting is the Insect Race, then we can quickly accumulate a large population, but the Power of Slaughter given by the Insect Race is not much, and it might not be possible to hatch many powerful demons. If we choose to hunt elemental life forms, we get a lot of Power of Slaughter, but not enough Soul Value, so the population might not be improved much.

"Without considering casualties, dealing with elemental life forms is definitely a bit more cost-effective," Su Ziyu thought to himself.

Time is limited.

He must quickly decide whether to target the Insect Race or the elemental bodies, considering issues of distance and search, efficiency must be the highest priority.

.........

"It would be great to encounter a wave of wild Abyssal Worms again," Su Ziyu remarked a bit regretfully.

A wave of wild Abyssal Worms could provide dozens of populations.

With just over a thousand points of Power of Slaughter, dozens of Sharp Claw Demons can be incubated, and the number of demon populations can quickly explode.

In any case, troops need to continue to explode in numbers.

"Incubate 50 Sharp Claw Demons."

"Incubate 10 Frenzy Demons."

The hard-earned resources from a day's accumulation were quickly consumed, as one gruesome tumor after another emerged, and a large number of Sharp Claw Demons appeared around the Abyssal Blood Pool.

A Little Demon needs 10 points of Power of Slaughter.

However, a Frenzy Demon requires 300 points of Power of Slaughter. Though they are both low-tier demons, a Frenzy Demon costs 30 times as much as a Little Demon and 10 times as much as a Sharp Claw Demon, but when it comes to real combat, a Frenzy Demon may not necessarily be able to beat 30 Little Demons, and certainly has no chance against ten Sharp Claw Demons at the same time.

There is strength in numbers.

The nature of demons seems to be that the more numerous they are, the higher the morale.

However, Frenzy Demons have an advantage, which is their tough and thick skin, making them excellent as front-line tanks and cannon fodder.

For demons, quantity is very important!

Su Ziyu also reserved some Soul Crystal Stones to exchange when the Power of Slaughter is insufficient.

Additionally.

He wanted to see if he could encounter a Night Witch. Now that he was also considered wealthy, he hoped to buy Abyssal Worms directly from the Night Witches with Soul Crystal Stones.

The scale of his forces quickly expanded to nearly two hundred.

Su Ziyu had to admit that the ability of demons to spawn troops is really terrifying. It was only a single day; the sky hadn't even fully darkened, and the forces he possessed were enough to capture a large human town.

The construction of the Blacksmith Shop would still take one or two days.

However, the Ant Race had already collected a lot of minerals, and the Abyssal Kobolds were busy working. He didn't plan to take these vassal races out because, if they died, it wouldn't be easy to recover.

He discovered an issue.

The days in this world are very long, and the nights are short, about five to six hours before dawn, and at night the heavens are a dark red, with relatively high visibility; it's not a situation where you can't see your hand in front of your face.

The Enchanting Demon adjutant brought back another five or six Kobolds.

However, this time her expression was a bit hesitant, and she softly said, "Those Kobolds seem to have noticed something's wrong. Capturing them has become much more difficult."

A large number of people disappeared suddenly.

Kobolds still have some intelligence and will certainly notice something amiss.

"Then be careful," Su Ziyu said in a deep voice. "If it's really impossible to capture them, just let it go."

An Enchanting Demon requires 500 points of Power of Slaughter, plus 2 Demon Gene Points. He wouldn't risk an Enchanting Demon for a single Kobold.

"Don't worry, Master," the Enchanting Demon responded with a charming smile, "Those Kobolds can't do anything to me."

Another day passed.

Su Ziyu once again led his demon army to search for wild creatures. It seemed like the nearby Insect Race had been almost entirely wiped out, with no significant new findings. After all, this wasn't a game, it was a real world, and the creatures wouldn't respawn after being killed.

Furthermore, biological reproduction requires space for activities, which meant that Su Ziyu must explore more territory.

"Either continue exploring."

"Or we can only deal with those Wind Elements," Su Ziyu scratched his head a bit irritatedly.

Wind Elements can fly.

They seem to know some magic, which his demon army might actually not be able to defeat.

"Currently, only the Enchanting Demons can fly low," Su Ziyu touched his spine, feeling like there were demon's wings that hadn't grown out yet, but he also didn't have flying capability at the moment.

Where demons pass, no grass grows.

After spending some time, Su Ziyu finally confirmed that the wild creatures nearby were indeed all killed off.

He gave it a little thought and decided to explore further east.

The North is filled with the Undead, and there might be Giants in the South.

There is a confirmed Red Dragon to the West.

Since Wind Elements can't currently be fought, and new Insect Races haven't been found, he could only continue exploring to the East.

For Su Ziyu, the initial strategy relied on sustaining fighting through war. If his plan was to build up gradually, he would've started by stockpiling enough resources before directly upgrading the Abyssal Blood Pool's capabilities.

Soon enough.

Su Ziyu encountered some enemies.

He was pleasantly surprised.

He ran into some wild Sharp Claw Demons. They seemed untamable, so Su Ziyu could only command his demon army to overwhelm and completely slaughter them.

"Gained 1250 points of Power of Slaughter."

"Gained 50 points of Soul Value."

"Gained 35 Demon Gene Points."

The battle ended.

Su Ziyu glanced over the battlefield and found that three Frenzy Demons had died, the cause being that they broke formation and charged directly into the crowd.

The majority of battle casualties among the Frenzy Demons were for this reason.

They easily fell out of sync with the other troops, and on the battlefield, unless there was a decisive strength advantage, falling into an enemy encirclement meant certain death, with attacks from all sides ripping a Frenzy Demon to shreds.

"Discovered some wild Soul Worms."

This plot of land seemed somewhat different from other places. With a quick system scan, it was indicated as — 'Abyssal Erosion'.

It appeared that wild demons were emerging here.

He also discovered a cluster of Soul Worms, numbering roughly over thirty.

Just as Su Ziyu was preparing to take these Soul Worms back, a message was suddenly relayed by the scouting Sharp Claw Demons from outside.

"Master!"

"We've discovered a trading caravan!"

A trading caravan?

Su Ziyu promptly led his forces over. Soon enough, within his field of view was the outline of a trading caravan, and from afar, he could see a giant beast the size of a small mountain, which looked somewhat like an Earth Dragon, resembling a Triceratops in shape.

The caravan quickly halted upon spotting the demons.

The makeup of the caravan's guards was varied, and Su Ziyu could see the Undead, Goblins, Ogres, and even a creature standing about four meters tall that looked like a Giant.

"Hello!"

"Respected Demon Lord!" a slightly sharp voice called out from within the caravan. Soon, a humanoid creature emerged, holding a Magic Staff, wearing a long cloak, and addressing Su Ziyu from afar: "As you can see, I am a Plane Merchant."

"Specializes in selling some rare goods."

"I occasionally engage in soul trading."

The merchant gestured to a nearby Goblin, who quickly approached with a small sack, opened it, and said, "My name is Bird. I was once a Night Witch."

"I understand the rules of demons well."

"This is the protection fee we're paying to you. We hope that you will allow us to safely pass through this land."

Oh?

Someone's actually volunteering to pay a protection fee? Do demons have rules like this?

Su Ziyu gestured for a Sharp Claw Demon to go up and take the sack. After taking a glance inside, a smile flickered at the corner of his mouth, as he laughed, "Very good. You can pass through here safely."

"But I'm curious about the goods you have."

"Of course."

"I'm prepared to pay."
