As a subculture of Huaxia civilization, Fusang's mythical tales are not very complex.
Su Ziyu recalled some stories quickly and then looked in amazement toward Qing Ji not far away.
In the mythological system of Fusang, the status of Orochi is akin to that of Gong Gong or Xing Tian in Central Earth, but naturally, the two cannot be compared. After all, Fusang is just a small island nation, which inherently limits the emergence of very powerful entities. Much like their historically significant Queen Himiko, who was merely a queen of an island recorded in the Huaxia Three Kingdoms' Records of Wei.
Not to mention the Xia, Shang, Zhou, or even the Spring and Autumn Warring States periods, there's contention regarding whether civilizations existed in Fusang even during the pre-Qin era.
Back to the topic at hand.
In Fusang's mythology, there is a significant figure named Susano, who, after being expelled from the High Celestial Plain, moved from Chiyun Kingdom to a place called Bird Hair. He stood near the Fat River wondering where he should go, then saw a pair of chopsticks float downstream.
It is widely known that chopsticks originated from Huaxia, yet in the earliest myths of Fusang, chopsticks already existed during Susano's time.
This period roughly marks the later stage of Fusang's creation mythology.
Susano followed the river upstream and soon saw an old man and woman sitting around a young girl, the three holding hands and crying. The girl appeared to be around sixteen or seventeen, beautiful and attractive. Susano found it odd and approached, asking, "Who are you? What happened?"
The old man, seeing someone inquire, stood up and replied, "I am the son of the Mountain God Oyamatsumi, ruling over this land, named Ashinamechui, and my wife Shoumingchui, with our only daughter named Kushinadahime."
"Why are you crying?" Susano asked again.
The old man sighed deeply and replied, "Originally, we had eight daughters and lived harmoniously as a family. But who would have thought that nearby, in a place called Takosu, resides a monster named Orochi. Each year it comes to wreak havoc, each time devouring one of my daughters. Now, it's time for that monster to appear again. The thought of losing our last daughter also is unbearably sorrowful, hence the tears."
"What does that monster called Orochi look like?"
"It looks incredibly frightening. Its eyes are blood-red like holly berries, it has eight heads and eight tails, covered in green moss and grown with cypress. Its body is enormous, able to stretch across eight valleys and eight hills, its stomach festering and constantly dripping blood." The old man described while trembling uncontrollably.
Susano, hearing this, showed no fear, and told the old man, "Don't be afraid, let me subdue this monster. But can you give your daughter to me in marriage?"
The old man replied, "If you can vanquish that monster, I shall present my youngest daughter to you. But may I ask your esteemed name?"
Susano responded, "I am the younger brother of Amaterasu, just descended from the High Celestial Plain."
The elderly couple were greatly astonished: "We didn't expect such a revered deity to arrive, forgive our rudeness. We will present our daughter to accompany you."
Then, Susano cunningly got Orochi drunk and killed it with the Ten Fist Sword. While handling Orochi's corpse, Susano discovered the Kusanagi inside its tail, which is one of the Three Sacred Treasures in Fusang's lore.
One white and six blues.
Exactly seven people, and they were all female, looking very similar, akin to sisters.
Qing Ji said Orochi ate her and her sisters.
The answer is quite clear!
Qing Ji and her six sisters were all Kushinadahime's elder sisters, descendants from the Mountain God during Fusang's era of co-existence between humans and deities. There were eight sisters total, Orochi devoured one each year until it wanted the last one but encountered Susano, who defeated it.
No wonder Qing Ji's power exceeds other demons!
Su Ziyu doesn't know why Orochi ate Kushinadahime's sisters, but he guesses it relates to divinity. It happened to have eight heads, wanting to eat eight maidens, all Mountain God descendants. Originally, Orochi had the Demigod label, but after Qing Ji saved her sisters, the Demigod label suddenly disappeared from Orochi.
"Husband! Now is the perfect time to kill it!" Qing Ji's figure soared up, instantly unleashing a ghostly blue flame onto Orochi.
Her six sisters also attacked simultaneously, their gaze, however, occasionally landed on Su Ziyu.
In an instant.
Su Ziyu felt overwhelmed; just one Qing Ji was difficult enough, and now with one white and six blues, should he escape immediately after defeating Orochi?
Having lost the Demigod label, Orochi directly lost its resurrection ability. One of its snake heads had been sneak-attacked and killed by Nurarihyon before but had quickly resurrected seconds later. Yet now, its left head was jointly slain by Yama and Aoandon, and despite considerable time having elapsed, there were no signs of revival, its massive head falling to the ground, completely devoid of life.
As long as Orochi remains unrevived, so many great demons present will surely find ways to wear it down.
