Traveler of the River of Time and Space

Chapter 43: One White Six Green_2

"Can he handle so many Qing Ji on his own?" a Yin Yang Master marvelled as he watched the group depart.

Abe Yoshihiko turned and glared at him, reprimanding, "Don't talk nonsense."

"Keep it up, and you'll be punished yourself."

The Yin Yang Master looked a bit aggrieved as he turned away and muttered in a low voice, "We're usually almost out of mana just nurturing one or two Shikigami; Master Su seems so effortlessly at ease nurturing so many Shikigami. I was just saying it casually."

Rashomon.

After passing through the Ghost Gate, Su Ziyu led Qing Ji and the group into the Ghost Capital.

Upon arrival, Su Ziyu noticed Aoandon and the hundreds of Night Patrol creatures behind her, some of which had rather familiar faces — likely those of the Yin Yang Masters who perished last time.

"Master Su! You've finally arrived," Aoandon said, with eyes slightly narrowed as she scanned Qing Ji, then extended her hand and said, "Yama has asked us to follow your command tonight."

Command what? Just push through.

Looking at the Night Patrol creatures and then at Qing Ji and the six Snake Princesses behind him, Su Ziyu thought tonight's battle shouldn't be too difficult.

"The Slippery Ghost said he would assist tonight too," Aoandon whispered, "There should be no problem."

Unusual for that old bald guy to show up.

He's usually nowhere to be found when you're looking for him.

Su Ziyu wanted to ask if he knew where the Nightmare Tapir was, figuring the True Dream Realm's impact on reality could likely only be explained by the Tapir.

The group marched on triumphantly.

Ghost Capital wasn't far from Danbo Mountain, merely the distance of a county town. Jiutun Tongzi had rallied over a thousand evil spirits and occupied the area as a king. Although their numbers weren't vast, the population of Fusang at the time was merely about one or two million, and the combined forces of the Netherworld's Ghost Messenger totaled around seven or eight hundred, which might not even outmatch Jiutun Tongzi.

Fusang's population only exceeded ten million by the 17th century.

"Master!"

"Up ahead is Danbo Mountain," said a ghost who looked like a Military General as he approached Su Ziyu.

Su Ziyu looked up, using Spiritual Vision to see only a surge of blood-red light soaring to the sky. Jiutun Tongzi was revered as the Leader of the Ghost Race, allegedly one of the most powerful demons of the time.

"Prepare to attack," Su Ziyu said slowly.

The other evil spirits were negligible, as the Night Patrol creatures had some level of strength.

Upon hearing this, the Ghost General stepped forward, drew his weapon, and pointed ahead, declaring, "Everyone! Charge with reckless abandon!"

"Catch them off guard!"

"Charge!"

In Fusang, there was an intimidating yet foolish tactic famously known as the "reckless charge," also dubbed the "meat bomb tactic."

Simply described as storming forward head-on.

Wild boars in Fusang were considered relatively fierce, with few other dangerous beasts in the area due to limited space. Watching wild boar charges inspired Fusang's Ancient Generals to invent the reckless charge, which emphasized boldness and the courage to press forward like a wild boar. Being called a "Boar Samurai" in Fusang was a compliment, acclaiming a warrior's bravery.

Though the reckless charge seemed foolish, when executed successfully, it proved to be a highly formidable method.

At least, the current situation looked better than Su Ziyu anticipated; these warriors charged straight into Jiutun Tongzi's den, resembling a maddened boar as they were led by the Ghost General tearing through enemy lines, decisively routing the evil spirits outside.

If this fellow were still alive, he'd be considered a renowned general in Fusang just based on this reckless charge.

Boom!

With a loud noise, the Ghost General rushing ahead was intercepted. In Su Ziyu's view, a giant ghostly hand emerged and crushed the Ghost General into fragments, followed by the appearance of several demons.

— "Ibaraki Douji."

— "Two-mouthed Woman."

— "Ba."

— "Gluttonous Ghost."

— "Mountain Child."

— "Crow Tengu."

— "Celestial Evil Spirit."

Numerous Celestial Evil Spirits surged forth from an iron-constructed palace. Fusang lacked significant iron production at the time, yet Jiutun Tongzi somehow amassed that much iron to build a palace.

"Husband?" Qing Ji grasped the White Paper Umbrella and stepped forward, standing by Su Ziyu's side, tilting her head slightly in inquiry.

Su Ziyu shook his head to indicate she needn't act hastily, and then gazed at Aoandon beside him with a smirk. Aoandon, initially looking like a shy, non-combative woman, puckered her lips upon seeing Su Ziyu's expression. Then she rose lightly, raising her hand as ghostly fire surged from her lantern, transforming into phantom images of demons.

This woman was adept at lazing about and watching from the sidelines.

If not given due attention, she'd keep doing it.

"Let's go," Su Ziyu's figure rose into the air, taking Qing Ji and flying across.

Behind them were six eager Snake Princesses. At that moment, Wu Ji was particularly excited, shooting forth like a snake and cutting a demon in half in a flash of shadow. Nearby Yi Ji furrowed her brow, imitating Qing Ji's rebuke, "Wu Ji, don't be so brutal."

"Just burn them, like this."

With that, Yi Ji opened her mouth to emit green flames, instantly igniting a twenty-meter area around, causing nearby Night Patrol creatures to quickly evade.

Flames spewed from the Snake Princesses' mouths.

In an instant.

All of Danbo Mountain was aflame; even Liu Ji at the rear seemed intent to procrastinate, not particularly keen on fighting. Yet after receiving a glance from Yi Ji, even Liu Ji reluctantly opened her mouth to spew flames, unleashing a fifty-meter long fan-shaped blaze.

Her opening stunned the others.

If the Snake Princesses' flames were likened to Dragon Breath Spray, then the other five Snake Princesses were akin to adolescent Giant Dragons, but Liu Ji was entirely different; her breath was overwhelmingly superior, comparable to a mature Giant Dragon's Dragon Breath Spray.

Liu Ji just puffed once and stopped.

She touched her pudgy white belly, releasing a burp, seeming a bit hungry.

The six Snake Princesses charged forward unhindered.

Virtually matching Su Ziyu's motion, they advanced to the high ground, pushing straight toward the enemy's stronghold. Behind them lay a sea of flames. Not only were the evil spirits there, but even the Netherworld's Patrolling Ghost Messengers dared not approach. The six fire-breathing Princesses were almost burning half of Danbo Mountain with their moves.

No wonder the house was burned.

These Snake Princesses couldn't control flames as Qing Ji could — Qing Ji's fire only burned on people, whereas they set everything ablaze, especially Wu Ji, who took a deep breath and seemed unsatisfied, appearing to want to mimic Liu Ji's fierce blast but ended up choking herself.

A loud roar suddenly echoed.

Just as Su Ziyu's Meteor Longsword transformed into a bolt of lightning and shot forth, a loud roar erupted from within the palace, followed by a giant wine gourd flying out, accompanied by a rich aroma of wine and enveloped in red mist.

"Who dares disturb my drinking?" A drunken voice resonated, accompanied by an extremely arrogant tone as Jiutun Tongzi's figure gradually emerged.

It was unclear how much he'd been drinking.

Su Ziyu, even from dozens of meters away, could smell the strong scent of alcohol along with a faint whiff of blood. Jiutun Tongzi, with drunken, hazy eyes, slapped the wine gourd, watching the initially dispersed red mist retract as a cacophony of ghostly cries absorbed nearby ghosts and Yin Messenger into the gourd.

"Great wine!" Jiutun Tongzi shook the wine gourd and then tilted it, pouring out a stream of blood-red liquor.

All the absorbed ghosts and Yin Messenger vanished.

— "Jiutun Tongzi [Leader of the Ghost Race]!"

— "Demon Gourd [Soul Devourer][Refinement][Wine Spirit][Pollution]!"

Two red lights flared.

Su Ziyu originally expected just one boss, but he hadn't anticipated the wine gourd of Jiutun Tongzi was also a pollution entity!
