Traveler of the River of Time and Space

Chapter 48: The Promise [End of Volume 5]

"Mm." Su Ziyu nodded gently.

For a moment, he didn't know what to say.

He wasn't sure how much Qing Ji remembered about what happened in the True Dream Realm. When he awoke, he was a bit confused himself. This dream should be a Legendary Level Domain Ability, and only the Dream Eater would know what exactly happened inside. But now Su Ziyu couldn't find the Dream Eater anywhere; he could only vaguely guess that Qing Ji remembered the last dream, because in that one Su Ziyu was indeed trying his best to dispel the hatred in her heart.

Is this really the Qing Ji from the dream?

That Qing Ji's change would be so significant after resolving her obsession and hatred?

If it were in the True Dream Realm, Qing Ji would have already burned Su Ziyu to ashes. But now, she was very calm, in a gentle and lovely manner, carefully brewing tea for him.

"I..."

Su Ziyu finally decided to go through with it, inhaling deeply and speaking in a somewhat tense voice, "I'm leaving..."

The room seemed to freeze all of a sudden.

Qing Ji's hands, which were brewing tea, paused. She didn't immediately look up, but instead spoke in a voice that sounded a little pitiful, a little lost, and a little helpless, "Husband, where are you going? Can't you take me with you? I can serve you no matter where you go!"

"You promised in the dream that you would marry me."

A gust of cold wind swept through.

As a chilling sensation emerged, ghostly blue flames ignited behind Qing Ji, and the air around seemed to solidify, carrying an overwhelmingly oppressive feeling of unease.

Su Ziyu couldn't see Qing Ji's expression, but in the reflection on the tea's surface, he saw a pair of eerie pale-golden vertical pupils.

No rage?

However, the extremely tense atmosphere made Su Ziyu develop an intense survival instinct after risking everything. He knew that if he didn't answer properly, everything that happened in the True Dream Realm might play out again.

Preserving his life was critical. (dog-head)

Su Ziyu thought for a moment, organized his words, and then picked up the teacup before him, pretending not to see Qing Ji's eerie pale-golden vertical pupils. This change implied her emotions were on the verge of being out of control, and a slight misstep could lead to disaster.

"I am not from this world." Su Ziyu's eyes were calm, but he started with a shocking revelation intended to shake Qing Ji's mind before continuing.

Sure enough.

His words left Qing Ji stunned, her expression filled with disbelief. Qing Ji looked up with some confusion, her eerie pale-golden vertical pupils gazing at Su Ziyu in front of her, speaking softly, "Husband? I do not quite understand."

Good.

Successfully diverted her attention.

On the verge of losing control, Qing Ji was drawn to Su Ziyu's words, her mind becoming much clearer as though she were pondering the meaning behind them.

"This is just one of many worlds. I actually come from another world." Su Ziyu paused, then spoke slowly, "In fact, I am currently performing a Space-Time Inspector task."

"The reason I came to this world is simply because something happened here that could lead to a major disaster."

"Before this."

"I've been to many worlds and faced terrifying beings similar to Orochi."

Orochi?

Though Qing Ji didn't fully understand Su Ziyu's words, she could tell that Su Ziyu had previously faced enemies as frightening as Orochi. Her worry quickly overshadowed other thoughts, and she looked up at Su Ziyu, "Husband. Although I don't quite understand."

"But if you are going to deal with such terrifying beings as Orochi, you absolutely must take me with you."

Su Ziyu didn't respond to these words.

In that moment, he did feel a bit soft-hearted, but once he contemplated the increasingly dangerous worlds he faced, many of which weren't like Medieval Civilization worlds, he realized Qing Ji, being a demon, might not adapt well to future high-tech worlds. While her power was formidable in Medieval Civilization, once she stepped into future technological worlds, there were too many weapons that could threaten her.

Moreover, Qing Ji's nature wasn't sufficient for dealing with various unexpected situations. Taking her along wasn't the best choice.

At least not for now.

Su Ziyu paused for a moment, as if telling a story, and spoke softly, "Not long ago, I went to a world that was already a Wasteland. Humanity had destroyed their world with their own weapons, and the land was filled with terrifying radiation and mutated monsters."

He began to recount some of his past experiences bit by bit.

Meanwhile, Su Ziyu also produced his Anti-Material Sniper Rifle out of thin air, offering it to Qing Ji and saying slowly, "This is a weapon acquired from that world."

"I used it to kill the Jorogumo."

Having shared some experiences from the Wasteland World, Su Ziyu then continued to describe events in the Dream Realm, which quickly captivated Qing Ji's attention. When he spoke of Ragnarok and of the Dream Serpent, Jormungandr, sprawling over the entire Dream Forest, Qing Ji couldn't help but cover her mouth in astonishment, realizing that she had never imagined there could be such a colossal creature in existence; Orochi seemed as insignificant as an ant in its presence.

After discussing the Dream Forest events, Su Ziyu briefly talked about the Demon Hunter nation, and then began describing the monsters within the Abyss.
