The SOS signal has been sent out for three whole days.
Pasha doesn't know how much longer the group can hold out, but everyone's spirit is already extremely tense, and at any moment, someone might completely break down under those eerie whispers.
Will the Brotherhood come to save them?
Some answers Pasha doesn't even dare to think about, because she fears that doing so might really drive her mad.
In the vast wilderness.
Su Ziyu stopped the car and then opened the trunk to refuel. The two little girls went along and down the other side of the slope; they needed to relieve themselves.
He realized at this moment that bringing Matty was an incredibly wise choice. If Matty wasn't around, sometimes it would indeed be a bit inconvenient for him to be alone with his daughter. After the great disaster broke out, desertification signs were apparent in the global climate environment, but fortunately some mutant plants survived tenaciously, and now some areas have regained greenery.
At this pace, maybe in hundreds or thousands of years, Earth will fully recover, since after all this time doesn't count to it as anything significant.
But humanity's future isn't so fortunate. Radiation pollution continues to affect human reproduction; those alive have accumulated a certain pollution value in their body, and as long as they live long enough, it could erupt at any moment.
But who doesn't want to live a little longer?
It's not far from the Corpse Demon Club now, Su Ziyu set off directly after the two little girls returned.
Some roads of the Old World are still preserved; it seems the tycoons have somewhat maintained them after all. They need transportation to control other places, and almost every few dozen kilometers there's a roadside sign, and sometimes there are sun-exposed corpses.
Years ago, there were many highway scavengers.
Later, some Highway Knights appeared, specializing in hunting these scavengers, and the tycoons offered certain bounties. After about seven or eight years, the number of scavengers decreased significantly. More importantly, the order in the Wasteland World gradually restored; compared to robbing, many people prefer to work to sustain themselves.
Elk Camp's Max was a very famous Highway Knight back then.
"Daddy!"
"Look! A big rabbit!" The little girl's voice awakened Su Ziyu's spirit.
He turned to glance, chuckled and said, "Darling! That's not a rabbit, that's a big kangaroo!"
"(⊙o⊙) Oh." The little girl was momentarily confused, and Matty couldn't help but laugh.
Many wild animals have mutated.
Some survived, while others gradually went extinct.
After driving for more than ten minutes, a road sign over three meters tall appeared in front of him, beside a small fork road, seemingly not built long ago. At the top of the road sign is a dried-up Corpse Ghost head, below is a dissected skeleton, integrated directly with the road sign, a white bony arm pointing towards the fork, and at the top is a line of words.
— "Corpse Demon Club!"
The road sign in front seemed very horrifying.
Normal people seeing it would probably not want to go there, but for those strolling in the gray areas, such places are their haven.
Because the Corpse Demon Club is a lawless illegal zone.
"Are we really going there? I heard there are bandits and scavengers there." Matty couldn't help but say while looking at the eerie road sign.
"Yes." Su Ziyu nodded, saying, "Don't worry. I'm here."
Vroom.
He started the car and turned directly; soon the scenery changed entirely as he saw many abandoned burnt-out vehicles. These scrapped cars were thrown randomly at the roadside, many cars still had dense bullet holes, and occasionally you could see uncollected bodies, already sun-dried for who knows how long, now just empty skeletons.
There used to be fierce firefights here, later it seemed to have become a dumping ground.
Su Ziyu drove further ahead; another hanging wreck appeared in view, with a small sign next to it, with a line written on it.
— "Theft is punished by death, robbery isn't."
Soon.
Su Ziyu came upon a reasonably large settlement, where from afar, noisy voices could be heard. In front of the camp stood a clown-like statue, with a bizarre smile painted with Corpse Ghost makeup, gesturing as if welcoming on a sign.
— "Welcome to the Corpse Demon Club!"
A heavy iron gate appeared ahead, with a group of fierce-looking guards with various strange tattoos beside it, one of whom, a mechanically modified man, stretched a hand blocking Su Ziyu's car, glanced inside it, and coldly said, "Entry is five Bottle Caps."
They're actually charging here.
Su Ziyu casually threw five Bottle Caps over, and the man waved his hand, quickly raising the roadblocks.
After Su Ziyu's car passed, a tattooed man chuckled darkly, "Coming here with two young girls alone?"
"Is it a human trafficker?"
"The older one has a fine figure; should we ask the price later?"
The guard captain glanced coldly at him and calmly said, "If you want to die, go ahead and try."
A filthy and chaotic spectacle.
Everything Su Ziyu saw here seemed like a carnival of demons, their mechanical modifications differing from the norm, as many appeared to be disguised scavengers, with most modifications illicitly done, weapons directly attached to their bodies. One fierce guy even replaced his left arm with a chainsaw, who knows what good such modifications aside from intimidation could do.
"Follow me. Don't wander off." Su Ziyu turned to the two little girls and sternly said.
"Mm." The little girl nodded obediently.
Beside her, Matty seemed somewhat nervous, and only after a while, said, "They look scary."
Bang!
A muffled sound rang out.
Su Ziyu saw not far off in a fenced-off area, two mechanically modified fierce men bare-knuckle brawling, with a big crowd surrounding seemingly placing bets. Neither used firearms, both were already bloodied, seemingly fighting till one's death settled the score.
Roar!
A hoarse roar made the little girl directly hide behind Su Ziyu.
As Su Ziyu reached the inn, he saw a Corpse Ghost locked up in a cage; it's unknown how long it had been there, the chains were covered in dried blood. Whenever someone approached, it roared, then quieted down again, slowly closing its cloudy eyes.
Are these people insane?
Su Ziyu's expression showed a hint of shock; he held the two little girls' hands and walked directly into the inn.
"Staying?"
"Standard room: five Bottle Caps, deluxe room: twenty Bottle Caps." A languid woman sat at the counter, heavily made up, smoking homemade tobacco, and upon seeing Su Ziyu's visage, her eyes brightened and she flirtatiously winked.
Su Ziyu glanced at the inn's furnishings and said, "A deluxe room."
Here, he certainly wasn't reassured about letting the two girls stay alone, but fortunately, he was leaving after a day, regardless of finding the Corpse Ghost Doctor or not, he was definitely leaving tomorrow.
"302. Here's your key." The woman scratched Su Ziyu's palm as she handed him the key, leaned close with a soft chuckle, "If you need other services, come find me, I'll give you a discount."
Su Ziyu didn't respond and took the key to leave.
While going upstairs.
He heard gunshots from outside; just one shot, then silence followed, with no ensuing turmoil because the place was already chaotic.
"Daddy, I don't like it here," the little girl whispered.
Su Ziyu smiled, ruffled her hair, crouched down and said, "Neither do I. We'll leave tomorrow, alright?"
"Mm." The little girl nodded obediently.
