Traveler of the River of Time and Space

Chapter 1: Coffin! Chimes! The Nameless King's Soul!

Can a soul be picked up on the roadside?

Su Ziyu had never experienced such a world before, and it was somewhat overturning his previous understanding.

—"About to dissipate soul (refinable): Refinement will yield 5 points of Energy Value."

That high?

Su Ziyu took out the Demon Gourd, raised his hand, and absorbed the soul into it.

"This world might be even more dangerous than I imagined!" If Su Ziyu remembers correctly, in the world of the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons, a Lamp Ghost Spirit could only refine 5 points of Energy Value, and here he picked up a soul about to dissipate on the roadside, it could also refine into 5 points of Energy Value.

Judging by the equipment on the corpse, it was likely just a regular Warrior.

Could a soul left by a regular Warrior about to dissipate be this strong?

How strong was he when he was alive?

A Lamp Ghost, no matter how weak, is still a sort of spirit, yet here it's equal to a soul about to dissipate found on the roadside.

Su Ziyu became much more vigilant.

The place where he was located seemed to be halfway up a mountain, with a distant view covered in gray mist and vague remnants of buildings. The surroundings were dead silent, hardly any small animals could be seen, everything visible was marred with a bleak, decayed aura, barren trees seemed to have died yet still growing wildly, each twisted and clawing at the air, uncomfortable to look at.

Crunch, crunch.

Su Ziyu heard some faint sounds. He frowned and cautiously moved closer, passing through a narrow path, where a cloaked figure appeared in his view, the clothing covered in dust and stains, not having been cleaned for an unknown time.

The way this figure moved was somewhat peculiar, their body extremely stiff, from behind, one could see dried bloodstains on the cloak dragging along the ground.

This didn't look like a living person.

Clang.

Su Ziyu drew his Meteor Longsword from his waist; in such a bizarre world, it was wise to be slightly cautious.

The figure seemed to notice Su Ziyu's presence, as they turned around, Su Ziyu saw the face, it was a decayed dried face, which once belonged to a woman judging by the features, holding a strange Ritual Dagger, her hollow eye sockets glowed faintly red as she noticed him, immediately, she lunged at him with surprising speed different from her prior movements.

Undead? Living Corpse?

Clang.

Su Ziyu slightly stepped aside, using sword techniques to block her attack, the force transmitted through the blade made his brows crease, it was stronger than anticipated, with a flash of cold light, she lifted her leg to kick his abdomen as Su Ziyu blocked, the dagger then swiftly slashed toward his throat.

Clang.

Su Ziyu raised his sword to block then struck downward aiming for the opponent's head.

But the living corpse suddenly rolled to dodge, utilizing quite skillful techniques to avoid, followed by a cold gleam from below stabbing toward Su Ziyu's kidney area.

Clang.

Su Ziyu deflected the attack once again, immediately bending slightly to crash into her torso, accompanied by flashing sword light, the downward strike became a horizontal slash, directly cleaving the enemy in half.

The enemy's body twitched briefly on the ground, then quickly lay still.

No Source Power Value prompt.

Not a Pollution body.

Combat techniques were very proficient, even as an undead retaining fighting instincts from life, preliminarily assessing she had skills equivalent to White Crow Swordsmanship LV2.

If she were alive, her combat capabilities likely would have been much stronger.

Faint strands of gray light seeped into his body.

Su Ziyu felt an indescribable sensation, realizing he could easily perceive souls here; at the moment of killing the enemy, he actually felt his own soul seemed to grow slightly stronger.

The Ritual Dagger had lost its luster, seemingly turning directly into a piece of scrap metal.

Su Ziyu examined the corpse, confirming she had been dead for a very long time, yet for some reason turned into an active undead. This plane was strange everywhere, having just arrived, he had no clue what was going on; he needed to gather intelligence first to understand the situation.

Upon re-entering the mission plane, Su Ziyu's abilities showed some improvement.

Charm Enhancement became LV4, whereas Time Acceleration hadn't changed, possibly reaching an auto-enhancement limit requiring Divinity Value to further upgrade.

Gale whistled.

Su Ziyu levitated using Telekinesis, situated on a nameless peak, he could see a severely derelict Monastery in the distance; nearby, plenty of wandering undead similar to before roamed aimlessly nearby, if Su Ziyu approached even slightly, they would attack.

No living being in sight.

Su Ziyu flew a circle, finding no trace of a single living person, yet heavy tombstones laid everywhere here, no idea how many were buried.

"1 point of Source Power obtained."

The sudden prompt made Su Ziyu pause momentarily, then react, feeling a heartwarming flow within.

Little girl.

His daughter.

Su Ziyu still floating in the air, acquiring Source Power didn't result from killing monsters but came from his daughter; just moments ago, Su Ying, still in the Wasteland World, gained Source Power, with part of it channeling back to Su Ziyu. Previously, Pasha mentioned intending to have the little one hunt mutant creatures with protection once she got familiar with her power, training her combat prowess.

After all, she is that world's Plane's child, destined to shoulder the world's responsibilities.

Warm streams surged from his heart.

Su Ziyu suddenly noticed his body beginning to restore little by little, originally for unknown reasons, he had turned emaciated like a dried corpse, appearing skeletal.

But now, his body was gradually recovering, though not returning fully to the previous state, he looked slightly more substantial.

"Human nature revival!..."

"Alert! Alert!..."

"Current plane hosts unknown erosion!... Extended stay may lead to gradual loss of human nature!..."

"Hourglass of Time auto-activated!..."

"Space-Time Mark activated!... Sealing own human nature!..."

An hourglass-shaped mark appeared on Su Ziyu's back, as sparks ignited, Su Ziyu felt a force emanate from the Hourglass of Time forming an invisible shield over himself.

Loss of human nature?

Su Ziyu's heart skipped a beat; he hadn't felt any mental anomalies except the odd changes to his body.

What's wrong with this world?

Why does it cause the loss of human nature?

What happens if all human nature vanishes, would one become a living corpse soul wandering aimlessly like these monsters below?

Su Ziyu felt a wave of anxious pressure; it's the unknown he feared most.

The loss of human nature halted.

Su Ziyu noticed his Life Force within, even faintly perceived his own soul; this Plane was odd, enhancing his soul perception significantly. Yet, Su Ziyu didn't know why, his body surface showed tiny sparks, akin to fire light dots swirling amidst a burning bonfire, flickering mildly throughout his frame.

Plane Law assimilation?

Frowning, Su Ziyu descended from mid-air directly approaching the dilapidated Monastery before him.

No matter what.

Better see what's inside first, perhaps finding some needed intel, maybe a living person if lucky.

Meanwhile.

In an immensely ancient sacrificial site, several mighty thrones stood atop; unfortunately, no figures occupied them, merely an empty scene, a faint bonfire burned in the center, amidst its flickering flames, phantoms vaguely appeared, followed by a low, female voice:

"The Nameless King's Soul has arrived!"

"Ashen ones without fire!... Go forth! Find this stranger king from alternate dimensions!... Bring back his soul!...He will serve as the finest fuel for this era!..."

"The continuation of the Fire Age requires his power!..."
