Chapter 7: Lords of Cinder Who Refused Fire Transmission!

Clatter.

Su Ziyu's figure descended directly from the sky.

The newly resurrected Nun Fried seemed slightly bewildered, her gaze landing on Su Ziyu with a moment of confusion, but she immediately regained full consciousness. With a gesture, the strange pair of scythes appeared in her hands, and she politely stood up, slightly bowing her head towards Su Ziyu, her expression calm as she said, "Oh nameless sovereign."

"I didn't expect us to meet again so soon."

The opposite party appeared somewhat weakened. In the spiritual perception, Su Ziyu could vaguely sense that the nun's soul seemed like a hollow shell, as if something had been lost within.

It should be humanity.

Although the Undead can revive, each death causes them to lose some humanity and memory, eventually becoming mad wandering souls.

Humanity is a very complex thing.

It encompasses all human emotions, the seven emotions and six desires, and also includes various bodily perceptions like appetite, touch, and material desire. The two Undead Su Ziyu has encountered so far scarcely showed any sense of pain.

"Must we fight again?"

Su Ziyu's expression held a hint of helplessness as he sighed, saying, "Can't we just sit down and have a casual chat?"

Killing these Undead doesn't yield any Source Power Value.

In other words, they aren't pollution entities; they're merely tools to prolong the Age of Fire. These people die and revive, revive and die again, and during the Fire Transmission, they are dug up from their graves to continue the cycle.

Honestly, Su Ziyu found them quite pitiful.

The so-called mission to prolong the Age of Fire and the ideal of saving this world were completely imposed on these Undead.

Even if succeeded, what then?

They would still have to return to their graves, be reduced to ashes in the First Flame, and at most, they're revived as tools for the next Fire Transmission, wielding swords and weapons unknown how long sealed.

"Are you not planning to kill me once and for all?"

Nun Fried's expression held a trace of peculiarity, a mix of craving death yet fearing it. She looked at Su Ziyu ahead and said softly, "You are the King of Cinder."

"I am the Unkindled Ash."

"If you kill me thoroughly now, it'll mean one less enemy in the future."

I won't stay in this world for long.

Why get embroiled in a never-ending struggle with you Undead?

Su Ziyu shook his head and said, "Why must it be like this?"

"You attacked me because you're the Unkindled Ash, forced to carry out the Fire Transmission as a mission imposed upon you."

"I resist because I am unwilling, disinterested in that so-called mission."

"The title of the King of Cinder is just something imposed on me by some lurking entity."

"I will eventually find it."

Su Ziyu had long noticed a particular issue: the two Undead who attacked him seemed to harbor an odd resistance towards the Fire Transmission. Hawkwood just lost his will after a little suppression, while Nun Fried clearly had other means of battle, yet chose to clash head-on with Su Ziyu, giving off a faint illusion that she was seeking death.

Nun Fried, hearing Su Ziyu's words, appeared a bit puzzled, as if pondering, and slightly lowered the scythes she held.

At this moment, Su Ziyu asked the crucial question, stating solemnly, "Actually, you don't want to transmit fire either."

"Isn't that right?"

Upon hearing these words, Nun Fried trembled, raising her head to look at Su Ziyu without speaking, yet her teeth gently bit the corner of her lip, clearly caught in an internal struggle.

"The Fire Transmission ritual continues."

Su Ziyu's thoughts became more transparent. He looked at Nun Fried and said solemnly, "But this world continues to decay."

"The Undead souls grow in number."

"The living are nearly extinct, so what if this Fire Transmission succeeds?"

"Everything is merely prolonging its last gasp."

"In the end, it will completely decay."

Su Ziyu had spent over a day in this world, yet aside from the two Undead tasked with Fire Transmission and a monster slightly communicating through Human Pus pollution, he hadn't encountered any other normal person.

This world is nearly beyond salvation.

If transmitting fire truly could save this world, these Undead wouldn't lose their morale so easily. Just a tentative comment from Su Ziyu made Nun Fried lose her fighting spirit and left her mildly bewildered.

"What do you wish to gain from me?"

Nun Fried gently sat down by the bonfire, placing the peculiar pair of scythes by her side, seemingly unconcerned with Su Ziyu suddenly launching a sneaky attack.

She laid a pale hand over the bonfire; the flames touched her hand without leaving any mark, nor did they engulf her. Nun Fried indeed faced away from Su Ziyu, silently gazing into the bonfire, softly saying, "I am just an Unkindled Ash."

"Unable to offer you much help."
