My Cyber Psychosis is Task Prompt

Chapter 187: Failed Response

The side effects of Black Light's rampage almost killed John.

"Huff, huff—"

He was panting heavily.

Gray-black mud water flowed past his eyes.

The Messiah's eye pupil was filled with faint yellow lines on both sides.

"Hiss—"

A strong dizziness struck directly at John's head.

He arched his back, seeing double on the flooded floor, as if his brain was about to boil and explode.

Bolago Club's CCTV was already hacked.

John was sure no one could see him as he took a special inhibitor from the inner layer of his shirt to prevent accidents.

Whirr, click.

The sound of chip reading was heard.

The relief from the side effects was fleeting.

John felt a strange sense of exhaustion, his body losing control, with a faint piercing pain between the gaps of his bones.

Fortunately, this pain only lasted a few seconds.

John dared not delay.

He switched to the nearest CCTV camera.

The soldiers outside were somewhat apprehensive, pointing their guns at the refrigeration room, trying to contact the network team, while others were calling for reinforcements, reporting the situation, or preparing to forcefully break through with tactical gestures.

Data stream flickered in John's eyes.

Messiah's Eye activated scanning, extending a red data stream from the camera to mark Jingke Heavy Industry soldiers who had intruded nearby.

Smoke from grenades and gunfire had already been suppressed by the fire sprinkler.

Jingke soldiers held up their weapons to prevent anyone from coming out, water dripping from their muscles and suit edges,

Suddenly, a streak of orange sliced through the air, exploding into a crimson blood mist!

Bam, bam—

John pulled the trigger.

A security guard outside whipped up his head, his sunglasses shot off, with bullet sparks grazing the edge of his gun barrel.

The gunfire became regular and sustained.

John stood behind the metal bar, holding the rifle, Messiah's Eye glinting, repeatedly pulling the trigger at the wall full of holes.

The red outlines in his eyes fell one after another.

The intelligence advantage had reversed.

Black Light kicked out Jingke Heavy Industry's hacker, remote scanning was disabled, the CCTV cameras had become John's eyes.

Jingke security guards cursed, trying to resist.

Rumble—

Two stun grenades were thrown from the room, rolling to the center of the reception area.

They were what John found on the body blocking the door.

He too wanted these guys to feel the trembling of skulls.

Jingke security shouted to alert their teammates.

But still, some didn't manage to avoid and were blasted into a brief loss of sight and hearing by the strong shock.

John flashed out of the room in an instant.

Sprinkler droplets shattered against the surface of his skin.

Sianweistan left consecutive afterimages in the time-stop filter.

John dodged the chaotic gunfire lines, raising a Rapid Runner submachine gun with both hands—light blue smart bullets fine-tuned directions mid-air, landing on those stunned guards, turning into gushing blood plasma.

He landed and rolled forward.

A string of bullets immediately pierced the fragile partition, leaving wall dust and construction debris in the spot he had just occupied.

John released his hands, letting the submachine gun slide to the inside of the cover.

He himself seized the opportunity to get up, flipping over the sofa and greenery, seeing the Jingke soldiers hiding inside.

These brawny individuals, wearing tactical helmets, were not affected by the stun grenades.

John, in mid-air, pulled out a damaged smart revolver, pushing it against the ballistic glass visor, quickly pulling the trigger.

The caliber of the smart revolver bullets was quite large.

The pollutants mixed with fuel exploded at close range.

The sensation was like setting off a bright blue firework against the visor, not completely breaking through the defense but affecting the internal programs of the helmet.

The brawny man screamed, swinging back, his vision turned pitch-black.

John landed to pounce on him, both as a dodge from bullets fired at him from behind and to shove the scorching revolver into his throat.

Bam—

Pungent blood plasma spurted out!

The smart revolver given by Bone Shards was now completely wasted.

Its cartridge had been sliced open by Chuan's samurai sword, and the recent close-range explosion had broken the lock and magnetic components.

"Here!"

"Take him down!"

The last two soldiers in the room fired wildly at the sofa, the leather exploding into its core, the hidden light strips sparking and igniting the dust in the air.

Swish—

John stuck close to the ground, kicking out from the side of the sofa.

[Weapon: Faqi-Silence]

[Module: Level III Silencing, Advanced Penetration]

The soldiers' exclamations were stuck in their throats.

Bullets pierced through their foreheads and necks.

A ripple grenade slipped from a corpse's hand, rebounding after touching the floor, the powerful wave splattering the falling blood onto the chandelier.

The scene finally fell silent.

The reception room with its sophisticated style was in complete disarray.

The pressure of the sprinkler pipes gradually decreased, the accumulated water mixing with the overturned furniture and bodies, flowing over the black-gold floor in a complex hue…

John suddenly knelt on the ground and retched.

The "limit" the doctor mentioned became increasingly apparent.

The abnormal state quickly dissipated, the swelling veins calmed down.

John vaguely touched the boundary of death.

If he wanted to live, he had to figure out the mystery of the body-swapping. Current clues were to find Mr. Vito for weapon dealer's intel and to "visit" Bone Shards to inquire where his original body was.

[Mission Goal Updated]

[Speak with Vito Russell. (Unaccomplished)]

Things must be tackled step by step.

John, carrying Angelica, reached the corridor outside the reception area; the imagined situation of being heavily surrounded did not appear.

The fight had scared off other clients.

Jingke soldiers and Black Gold Gang members were nowhere to be seen.
