Becoming a Saint by Touching Corpses

Chapter 242: Grandmaster Huang

But none of the people lying down found it strange; they were all clearly used to it.

"Great Immortal, I can confirm.

Each of them carries a strong scent of the Holy River, which wouldn't be so intense unless they'd been on the river for more than ten days."

The speaker, with half-white hair, wore a Beast Robe and was barefoot.

It was none other than the Shen family elder, Shen Shu, who had invited Lou Yi and his group to stay in the village.

However, the simple and friendly demeanor was gone from his eyes, replaced by an attitude of humility and eagerness to please the Weasel.

"Good, if you can extract the secret of crossing the Longjiang River from them, I'll reward you handsomely!" The Weasel grinned broadly, "Your family's taxes can be wholly exempted, and you might even gain an audience with the King."

Hearing this, the Shen family elder was overjoyed and kowtowed repeatedly.

Beside him, the young girl Nini also knelt with a blank expression, but a trace of struggle flickered in her eyes.

"Great Immortal, the leader of this group is residing in my house. Let me take you there to capture him." The Shen family elder hesitated, then reminded, "However, this guy is rather fierce, having once killed a wolf with a single stone. Great Immortal, you should be cautious."

"What, you dare to compare me to a clueless beast?" Upon hearing the warning, the Weasel became infuriated.

Its mouth gaped open, revealing grotesque, sharp teeth, causing Shen Shu and the other villagers to prostrate themselves on the ground, trembling with fear.

"I wouldn't dare, I beg your pardon!" Shen Shu kept kowtowing, "It's only out of concern for your safety, Great Immortal. Please forgive me!"

Hearing the elder say this, the Weasel retracted its fierce expression and said calmly, "Merely a martial artist; this immortal can easily capture him. No need to worry."

With its forelimbs behind its back, it swaggered after the villagers to the doorstep of Shen Shu's home.

"Great Immortal, he resides on the second floor," Shen Shu said.

"Watch how this immortal captures him!" The Weasel sneered, then snuffed its nose twice.

In an instant, its nose swelled several times larger.

From its black nostrils, a thick yellow mist spewed forth, lingering in the air.

Then, under the deliberate control of the Weasel, the mist rushed into the second floor of the Shen household in a single breath.

More than ten seconds later, the yellow mist returned and was entirely inhaled back into the Weasel's nostrils.

"Let's go. Having inhaled this immortal's poisonous smoke, no matter his abilities, he'll obediently surrender!"

The Weasel confidently headed up to the second floor of the house, but its expression changed upon arrival.

"Where is he?"

"Are you playing me!?"

"Spare us, Great Immortal! Before leaving, I truly saw this person staying in the house," Shen Shu's sweat poured like rain as he lay prostrate and kowtowed.

Beside him, young Nini also knelt tremblingly, following suit in the same prostrating position.

"Hmph, I doubt you'd have the guts. This person must have been tipped off. Quickly, chase him with this immortal!" The Weasel huffed angrily and stormed outside.

Just as it stepped out the door.

'Wu wu wu!'

A chilling, wailing sound like ghostly cries pierced the air beside its ears.

The Weasel instinctively jumped to the side, yet still let out a deafening scream.

"Ah!"

One of its forelimbs was missing, with blood gushing frenziedly from the wound!

The Weasel looked up.

It found that the attacker was a black axe.

It had flown into the air, seemingly heading towards another household's roof.

Yet it suddenly halted mid-air, then inexplicably flew back even faster, spinning brutally toward where it stood!

"Help me!" The Weasel, scared out of its wits, turned and fled back into Shen Shu's house.

The surrounding villagers witnessing this were equally dumbfounded.

Fleeing for their own lives, how could they possibly concern themselves with the fate of their so-called Great Immortal?

'Wu wu wu!'

The axe followed into the Shen home, slashing through the Weasel again, cutting off its left leg.

The Weasel collapsed into a pool of blood, watching the axe fly back with panic, and shouted loudly, "Immortal Master, you can't kill me, I'm the adopted son of the Black Wind King..."

'Puh!'

Its words abruptly ended.

A yellow head detached from its neck, rolling on the ground of the Shen family's courtyard.

Lou Yi, Shi Caifeng, Daoist Xuanji, Chu Feng, and Zhan Weida all appeared on the scene, coldly staring at the panic-stricken villagers.

Previously, Lou Yi had detected a strange odor and sneaked out secretly, realizing something was amiss, and hastily returned to inform the others.

They intended to leave quietly to avoid conflict.

After all, a talking Weasel was unheard of and likely a demon, potentially more terrifying than the Beast King Winged Tiger.

Lou Yi, skilled and courageous, tested it before leaving, and unexpectedly, easily slew the Weasel demon.

Its strength seemed much weaker than he had anticipated.

And upon its death, it only provided him with thirty-five points of energy.

The Weasel demon was dead.

The group from Wangjiang turned against the villagers, led by the Shen family elder.

"We saved you, and this is how you repay us?" Shi Caifeng glared at Shen Shu, her eyes filled with murderous intent, "Helping demons harm your own kind—what's the difference from a traitor!"

Lou Yi's expression also turned cold.

If it weren't for his senses being far keener than ordinary humans.

Had he inhaled that poisonous smoke, who knows how it would've ended; he might not even have had the chance to use the Attribute Panel.

No matter how magical the Attribute Panel is, he needs to be conscious to operate it, right?

Shen Shu lay trembling on the ground, saying, "We, we're all servants of the Yellow Immortal, Loyalty comes first. Spare us, benefactor!"

He attempted to crawl over to Lou Yi to plead for mercy.

Yet, unexpectedly, a silver streak cut across his throat, and he clutched his neck, collapsing to the ground, his pupils dilating.

Beside him, Shi Caifeng already had her Silver Hooks out, her gaze icy.

"Grandpa!" The young girl Nini clung to Shen Shu's corpse, wailing, then viciously glared at Shi Caifeng, pulling a dagger from her bosom and charging at her furiously.

Shi Caifeng swiftly dispatched her to join her grandfather in the Underworld.

"Run!"

The remaining villagers were terrified out of their wits, fleeing in all directions.

Those close by were captured and killed, while those further away were spared the chase.

"Let's go, no need to linger here." Lou Yi said sternly, "Hurry and leave, before that demon's allies arrive."

Everyone grabbed their belongings, called the Black Bear Spirit from the dense forest, and headed southeast together.

After capturing a villager for interrogation, they learned that heading in this direction through the forest leads to a large town.

"Hurry up," Lou Yi urged everyone.

The Hawk in his mind suddenly squawked twice, seemingly warning him of impending danger.

Thus, Lou Yi didn't dare let down his guard even slightly.
