Zhang Zihao had no retreat path to take, so he chose to risk it all.
In three out of four directions surrounding his territory, large groups of Burrow Monsters were attacking.
The distance and speed of these Burrow Monster Swarms varied.
Yet even without these advancing swarms, his territory was already completely surrounded by a swarm numbering in the hundreds.
Within this swarm was a Death Knight, fully armored, wearing a skeleton spike helmet with a metallic texture, its chest armor decorated with a demon head relief with two sharp horns.
It rode a towering Skeleton Rhinoceros, standing high at the back of the swarm.
This swarm of hundreds of monsters besieging Zhang Zihao's territory was assembled with the sole purpose of breaching his land.
And other swarms in the three other directions were drawn as well, with two to three Burrow Heroes leading each large swarm, choosing a direction to merge continuously, expanding the swarm's scale, like a tidal wave sweeping along.
Such scenarios were playing out across the entire area, and the emergence of Burrow Heroes gave wandering monster swarms a clear intention to band together.
A thousand Burrows versus a total of seven to eight thousand Lords, even though the Lords fought tirelessly day and night, eliminating vast numbers of Burrow Monsters, after months of accumulation, 4 to 6 million Burrow Monsters still roamed the area, spread across 40,000 square kilometers of territory.
On average, there were 100 to 150 Burrow Monsters per square kilometer, while Lords were distributed at a density of nearly one every 6 square kilometers.
On average, each Lord needed to slay 600 to 900 Burrow Monsters. Of course, this was an average number.
Weaker Lords might kill 150 to 300 monsters daily, while mid-level Lords maintaining a regular defense could achieve seven to eight hundred kills, whereas high-end Lords, like Jiang Yi and Medina, could reach a daily kill count of 1500 to 3000.
As for Zong Shen, he killed a minimum of seven or eight thousand daily, and sometimes over ten thousand, alone eliminating the equivalent of the entire refresh amount of four to five Burrows.
But these glorious achievements were a thing of the past; now, within less than three hours of the Burrow Heroes' appearance, the entire area had obviously changed.
The originally scattered monster swarms began to organize.
If one could gaze down from ten thousand meters above, they would see the Burrows like irregular spots scattered across the entire area.
And the refreshed Burrow Monsters moved freely, each heading toward their attraction target, unconsciously meeting and banding together along their paths, forming a radial diffusion pattern overall.
Now, those radial patterns were rapidly disappearing throughout the area, replaced by tightly packed small and large swarms, like little and big spots.
These "spots" began roaming everywhere, with each Lord's territory becoming their wandering resistance.
The clash between the two sides transpired almost constantly, with small "spots" disappearing entirely from time to time, and large "spots" swiftly swallowing up and erasing territories.
The true Burrow Challenge began officially today at noon when the Burrow Heroes refreshed and appeared!
Fortunately, the two consecutive points exchanges and the accumulation of points in the first five days of the challenge bolstered most Lords' strength, although the pressure of the challenge in the entire area began to rise, it was far from defeat.
Eighty percent of Lords could resist those small "spot" swarms, while large "spots" were still in the minority state.
This is the current and most accurate state of affairs in the whole region.
...
Returning focus to Zhang Zihao's territory.
As he bravely resisted again, full of courage for five or six minutes, his soldiers started to suffer casualties because that Death Knight took action.
It struck a front-line Wolf Cavalry with a burning skull emitting green flames, dealing a fixed 100 points damage, rendering the Wolf Cavalry instantly dizzy, and simultaneously two Ghostly Demonesses appeared, effortlessly killing the Wolf Cavalry.
And just as Zhang Zihao began to suffer losses, the forward swarm from the approaching three other monster groups reached his territory, joining the siege swarm, thickening its mass and deepening Zhang Zihao's despair and fear.
Dozens of Gargoyles began to circle and scream in the sky, occasionally firing arcs of black blade light with piercing damage, while Ghostly Demonesses in the swarm were eager to attack, poised to deploy their howling skills, sneaking opportunities to occupy the warriors.
A Chaos Curse landed on Zhang Zihao's head, causing his attacks to lose control, often bizarrely missing their aim, and a disposable zombie seized the chance to bite his forearm. He wore a leather vest, his arm lacked protection.
Now with level six zombies, the damage was far more powerful than before, not only tearing off a small piece of flesh from Zhang Zihao's arm but also inflicting considerable damage value.
