Car Racing without Money

Chapter 143: A Truly Audacious Career Plan (Part 3)

Two Renault Grand Prix victories, and one Grand Prix F3 victory are not enough.

"No problem, let's first take advantage of Xiangbei's role as a test driver and test last year's old F1 car. Use the test lap times to prove his strength, and at the same time, accumulate the 300 kilometers required for the application of the Super Driver's License."

"Then look for an opportunity to substitute in an F3 event, make a stunning impression through a support race, and gain enough exposure and fame."

"Finally, find a major sponsor entrance and use capital to push Xiangbei into F1!"

Odetto has worked in the Formula paddock all his life, and is very familiar with the processes and methods of joining an F1 team.

He directly stated his feasible plan, with everything going smoothly, there's at least a ninety percent chance to leapfrog!

[crazy]

The word "crazy" emerged in Stan's mind, even though he experienced the "leapfrogging" wave of the 1990s, he still felt shocked by Odetto's plan.

"Odetto, don't you think this is somewhat too idealistic?"

Staler tactfully raised his doubts; Odetto's plan has three requirements, none of which are easy to achieve.

"Which one is idealistic?"

"Let's not talk about the funding issue, but what kind of standard does the racing test performance have to meet in order to prove Xiangbei's strength to each F1 team?"

"The standard of the top F1 drivers."

"How is Xiangbei, as a newcomer, going to test an old car and meet the standard of top F1 drivers?"

"If he can't attain it, what's the basis for leapfrogging?"

With this rhetorical question from Odetto, their argument came to an abrupt end.

It seems the logic is correct; Chen Xiangbei himself wants to leapfrog to F1, so without meeting this standard, why would an F1 team sign him?

"Xiangbei, what do you think?"

Staler no longer spoke much, handing the choice over to Chen Xiangbei himself.

"I want to give it a try."

Without much thought or hesitation, Chen Xiangbei gave his answer.

He had already recovered from the shock, regardless of whether Odetto's thinking is radical, at least in F1 history, there's indeed no concept of leapfrogging from Renault to F2.

Either leap, or leap to the very top of F1.

Furthermore, the difficulty of leapfrogging in this era is far less exaggerated than in later generations, with F1 teams being quite receptive to leapfrogging newcomers.

Half of the current-generation active F1 drivers in a decade have had leapfrogging experiences from F3, which draws a conclusion from this point.

Additionally, conducting racing tests earlier would greatly help Chen Xiangbei become familiar with F1's driving operation. His current achievements are based more on past experiences, and he is completely blank in the Formula One field.

Even if a conservative plan is chosen, participating in F3 events to win the championship before leapfrogging, and relying on short winter testing periods to improve proficiency, Chen Xiangbei worries that there's not enough time, which would affect his debut in F1.

It's important to know that many times, the first impression often determines public opinion.

A debut earning points versus a debut at the bottom can produce vastly different impacts on a career's trajectory.

"Okay, let's decide this way then."

Odetto nodded, then said to Staler: "You go settle the Brown GP Team, I'll persuade the Super Dream management, return to Europe and directly head to the Brown GP headquarters to commence Xiangbei's F1 professional training!"

To be honest, even without leapfrogging, Odetto had already thought about having Chen Xiangbei "change places."

The reason is simple, the Super Dream Base really has nothing!

Claiming to have demoted from the F1 paddock, in fact, it's just an empty shell, not even comparable to many small F3 teams in Europe.

At least other teams would have a racing simulator.

Chen Xiangbei should have better equipment conditions to freely showcase his racing talent, the Super Dream Team clearly doesn't meet this requirement.

"Hmm, I'll settle it."

Staler nodded, since a decision has been made, they should fully execute it.

After formulating this crazy career plan, Odetto called the crew members into the conference room as the team leader, announcing this news to them.

Just like when Chen Xiangbei heard it earlier, Liang Chi and others were stunned when they heard it, still not having fully accepted and digested the joy of winning the Grand Prix, feeling like a dream.

Now Odetto says Chen Xiangbei is advancing to F1?

In line with Odetto's personality, he naturally wouldn't do much more explaining, once announced he left the conference room, leaving the crew members bewildered.

Everyone could only look at Chen Xiangbei, hoping to hear the rationale from him.

"Well... it's hard for me to explain to you, anyway, after returning to Europe, we'll directly head to the Brown GP Team for F1 professional training."

After throwing out this sentence, Chen Xiangbei also left the conference room in the same manner.

Indeed, the story behind leapfrogging can't be explained in a few words, even Chen Xiangbei himself needs some time to process it, it can only be told slowly later.

...

After a night had passed, when crew members met in the restaurant the next morning, almost everyone had dark circles under their eyes.

Whether due to the excitement of winning the Grand Prix F3 championship or the shock from Chen Xiangbei's F1 advancement, everyone found it hard to sleep.

After finally falling asleep in the middle of the night, before dawn, a noise appeared outside the hotel's window, forcing everyone to wake up early.

As for the source of this noise, it was because Chen Xiangbei suddenly became famous!

Last night, CCTV took advantage of Chen Xiangbei's championship win to broadcast a previous interview with him.

The championship heat, combined with CCTV's influence, undoubtedly made Chen Xiangbei's name soar.
