Facing the Apocalypse with My Other Selves

Chapter 97: You Should Become the New Emperor!

Acosta was certain he wasn't mistaken; he had deeply participated in the research of this technology, and many of its critical breakthroughs had been made by him personally.

He had also been guiding many developmental directions for the technology.

So, at the very first glance, Acosta almost thought this was a piece of magic technology from the future!

Something the Magic Empire must have developed, pooling all its mages, consuming decades or even longer, to create.

It was entirely along the trajectory they had envisioned.

Yet the truth was, this magic technology had actually been invented by the mage before him, right in front of his eyes, using nothing but some scraps of their previous design, and completed in a shockingly brief time!

"Even the gods couldn't do something like this." Acosta stared at Wizard Shen Yu, his eyes filled with nothing but awe—and a deep, soul-rooted tremor of fear.

The greatest pride of a mage is magic—and the power to invent magic.

In the hearts of many mages, they may not match the gods in power, but in creativity, the gods can't compare at all.

Knowledge is the pride of mages.

But at this moment, that pride was utterly shattered.

"At some tiers, the gap isn't just about power anymore." Wizard Shen Yu said casually, then picked up speed: "Now that we've got the plane technology, don't waste time—people on the other planes may already be dying en masse!"

"Let's begin immediately." Acosta nodded firmly.

Reality proved that the Magic Empire's efficiency was nothing short of incredible.

Using magical messaging, within just about ten minutes, the Magic Empire's grand hall was filled with mages.

Many of them Shen Yu recognized, or at least knew of.

Some were even his teachers from school days.

Mages famous throughout the Magic Empire, even the entire world—Great Mages.

But right now, every single one looked exhausted; clearly, Acosta was right—they'd assembled the Great Mages to break the plague.

And when these people saw Wizard Shen Yu, their spirits soared.

Obviously, they all knew Shen Yu had produced the cure.

Some couldn't hold back their excitement, speaking out:

"What technology did you use to make that cure?"

"It doesn't seem to work for other pathogens."

"There isn't even a trace of magic power in it. That's incredible."

"You've opened up an entirely new field of cures!"

"..."

Wizard Shen Yu himself wasn't sure if their excitement was about defeating Divine Punishment or about the new technology.

Maybe, it was more the latter.

Mages in this world truly are scholars more than mere power wielders.

Then again, those who only chase after power don't need to research new magic.

If one perfects and drills a certain magic—like Enhanced Magic for the body—that's what warriors do.

"Quiet." Acosta called out, suppressing the noise in the hall. "I've gathered you for something more important. Mage Ao Yu has presented a cross-plane teleportation technology—we need to link with the Elta Plane immediately, over there..."

"Cross-plane teleportation!"

Acosta's voice was drowned out by an even louder shout.

Mages all acted staggeringly over the top.

In other kingdoms, it's hard to imagine the emperor being interrupted so rudely.

Yet in the Magic Empire, it's commonplace.

Acosta himself is more a mage than an emperor.

And even Acosta, knowing the true story, was this shocked—let alone these mages who knew nothing yet.

The commotion could not be stopped.

"Is it really cross-plane teleportation technology, and not cross-plane communication?"

"Even communication, if it's perfected, would be astonishing."

"Cross-plane teleportation? We're at least five hundred years too early for that!"

"How in the world did Mage Ao Yu do it?"

"..."

Voices came in waves. Even as Acosta spoke again and again, he couldn't silence them—evidence enough of the mages' shock.

At last, Wizard Shen Yu simply called, "Silence."

Using a bit of Gray Mist, every mage felt their emotions cooling instantly.

"I have my reasons, but now isn't the time for that." Wizard Shen Yu held up the Technology Crystal, floating it before them all. "Channel magic power into it, learn the spell, then cast it together—once we've saved the Elta Plane, you'll have all the time in the world to research."

This time, no one spoke.

Instead, Acosta watched the now solemn Wizard Shen Yu, deep in thought.

And once every mage had absorbed the new technology, their faces showed yet another wave of shock.

Yet under the strange power maintained by Wizard Shen Yu, that shock didn't erupt into emotion.

Right there, the mages began to jointly cast magic.

Magic power surged and gathered throughout the grand hall.

The first step: contact.

From within the hall echoed a clear, but weary female voice.

"Mages of the Magic Empire, is there an emergency? We are striving with all our strength to research Divine Punishment, and have little energy for anything else."
