I Pick Up Talents on the Interstellar Battlefield

Chapter 313: Demons as Sacrifice

Under the dark purple sky, a black silhouette shot across the low sky like an arrow leaving the bow, the Night Demon Wings spreading currents of air, carving fleeting white streaks through the demonic Qi.

Li Qi bit down hard, tasting a faint bloodiness on his tongue — the wound on his back was still seeping blood, left by the scrape of a Silver-winged Demon's sharp claw.

"Damn it!" he growled, his wings suddenly accelerating, leaving afterimages in the air.

Yet those dozen silver lights behind him clung to him relentlessly, the frequency at which the Silver-winged Demons flapped their wings was astonishingly fast, the sharp sound of wing tips tearing through the air like countless small knives slicing by his ears.

When the demon tide erupted, he was lurking in a crevice on the cliffs outside the Demon Cave. Initially utilizing the cover of boiling demonic Qi, even High Tier Demons found it difficult to detect his presence, but a damn internal conflict among those demons had a beam of destructive demonic light explode outside the crevice, shaking him so violently that his Qi and blood surged, causing his Spiritual Energy to involuntarily fluctuate for a moment.

That momentary fluctuation was like a torch igniting in the night, instantly sparking the bloodlust of all the surrounding demons.

The demons who were tearing each other apart suddenly halted, turning in unison toward the crevice, and in the next moment, the entire demon group rushed towards where he was hiding.

Li Qi rapidly burst out of the crevice, immediately gathering the Night Demon Wings to ascend into the sky.

He dared not linger for even a moment, nor did he dare look back — under the boost of the demon tide, the auras of those demons were several times more violent than usual, just the dense red heat source dots within his sensing range were enough to make his scalp tingle.

But he miscalculated this group of Silver-winged Demons.

This group had faces as black as ink, with eyes a poisonous green, and silver wings behind them as thin as cicada wings, yet sharp enough at the edges to split rock.

Their speed defied logic, even with Li Qi pushing the Night Demon Wings to the limit, he could not shake off the Silver-winged Demons.

"Fufufu—"

A strange laugh came from behind, like rusty iron sheets rubbing together, with a creepy mockery.

Li Qi abruptly veered sideways, barely avoiding a slashing claw of demonic Qi — the claw marks left three charred streaks in the air in front of his chest, and the scorching pain was perceptible even through his clothes.

Just as he was about to flip around to counterattack, the corner of his eye glimpsed a shadow flashing past low on his left.

Three wingless Magma Demons crouched on the rock wall, spewing three magma pillars, the sulfur-flavored flames cutting three arcs through the demonic Qi, precisely sealing off his escape route.

"Damn!" Li Qi's heart sank, as he was forced to ascend abruptly, but that half-second lag allowed the Silver-winged Demons behind to catch up.

"Slash!"

A Silver-wing sliced across his back like a blade, his night-prowler clothing instantly slashed with three deep cuts down to the bone, fresh blood spraying out, drawing a scarlet trajectory across the night sky.

The agony made Li Qi's wings tremble, his flight path momentarily disrupted.

This disruption became a fatal flaw.

A booming of wing flaps suddenly came from his right, another seven Silver-winged Demons rushing in from the flank, surrounding him in a fan shape, their wings interlocked to form an impermeable silver net trap.

Their claws shone with a ghostly blue demonic light, evidently laced with poison.

Even more terrifying was the ground — countless Demonized Worms burrowing up, spewing mucus that turned into toxic webs in mid-air; dozens of horned demons wielding giant axes, roaring deafeningly into the sky, with demonic Qi condensing into spheres above their heads, clearly preparing a range attack.

Within Li Qi's perception, the dense red dots had already merged into a solid mass, trapping him in the center like a death net about to close.

"Boss, I can't hold on much longer!" he shouted frantically, his face pale with fear.

The leader of the Silver-winged Demons behind let out a shrill screech, all Silver-winged Demons accelerating simultaneously, the sharp sounds of claws tearing through the air merging into a death overture.

Li Qi spun abruptly, crossing the Night Demon Wings in front of him as a shield, channeling his remaining Spiritual Energy into the wings — he knew he couldn't escape, all he could do was use his last ounce of strength to buy even a second for Qin Tian's arrival.

Just as the silver wings were about to reach him, he vaguely saw a silver light illuminate from the side.

Poof~

The expected agony did not come, instead a gentle energy flowed through his meridians, and the wounds on his back began to heal visibly.

Li Qi absently opened his palm, noticing the residual light green glow on his fingertips — he knew whose power this was.

He turned his head to see Qin Tian hovering nearby, countless dark green vines weaving into a semi-transparent shield, blocking the claws of the Silver-winged Demons and the magma pillars of the Magma Demons.

"Boss," Li Qi said, bowing his head in shame, the tips of his ears burning. If not for Qin Tian's timely arrival, he might already be the demons' prey; what was supposed to be covert reconnaissance had turned into a joke.

"You go first." Qin Tian's voice was calm, but his hand gripping Li Qi's shoulder was undeniably firm, "Leave the rest to me."

Just as the words fell, Li Qi felt a flash of silver light before his eyes, and suddenly he was tossed into a rotating Void Gate.

The Void Gate closed in an instant, and the green vine shield scattered, turning into floating points of light.

Qin Tian turned slowly, the black sniper rifle "Shadowstrike" crossing his chest, its barrel exuding a faint sense of excitement as dark golden patterns flowed over its surface.

He glanced around, a dozen Silver-winged Demons hovering high in the sky, the poison dripping from their claws sizzling in the air, while on the black earth below, the Demonized Worms' webs formed a dome, and the horned demons wielded their burning giant axes, growls of impending rage rolling in their throats.

The dense red dots bounced in his heat sense vision like a searing giant net, sealing off the sky completely.

Seeing this, the corners of Qin Tian's mouth slowly curved into a smile, his dark purple eyes shone brightly amidst the demonic Qi:

"Finally, I've arrived at the perfect battlefield for me."

Boom!

As his words settled, the surrounding demonic Qi was drawn as if by an unseen vortex, frantically flowing into his body.

The black airflow formed a visible cyclone around him, pouring into his body — this was the Blue Talent of Demon Physique Hardening in operation.

Though this talent couldn't enhance his Physique, it perfectly simulated the aura of a demon, leading the horned demons below to hesitantly halt their actions, their eyes showing less hostility and more kin-like scrutiny.

At that moment, two thick black fog explosions erupted behind Qin Tian.

As the fog dispersed, a pair of enormous Demon King's Wings unfolded, spanning five meters, twice the width of Li Qi's Night Demon Wings.

The membrane of the wings was a deep dark purple, covered with lightning-like golden demon patterns, pulsing gently with his breath, flowing with life-like luster. Each wing bone was as sturdy as ivory, crowned with razor-sharp hooks that gleamed with the threat of rending space.

With a slight flap of the wings, a massive pressure rippled outwards, momentarily stalling the wingbeats of the high-flying Silver-winged Demons.

Their emerald eyes showed doubt for the first time — the aura emanating from these wings was even more terrifying than their leader's!

Qin Tian's fingers lightly moved on "Shadowstrike," the gun emitting a faint hum as if responding to his desire to battle.

"Today, with your blood..."

Qin Tian murmured, his dark purple eyes reflecting the mass of demons below, his smile growing increasingly cold, "I will awaken the Gun Spirit within my Shadowstrike."

Nurtured by the two Purple Talents, Soul of the Gun Body and Master of Arms, Shadowstrike's performance soared, with a faint Spirituality already born within it.

It was the embryonic form of the Gun Spirit.

However, for this Spirituality to evolve into a true Gun Spirit, a bloody sacrifice was needed.

And the demons of the Demon Suppression Abyss made for the best offering.
