Rotting Land: Survive

Chapter 207: Fierce Battle Against the Corpse Dog Pack (18)

Watching the leaping Corpse Dog vanish before Wang Qiang's chest, Tang Xiaoquan finally relaxed his tense heart.

His plan had succeeded, although the process was extremely perilous, the final result was nonetheless satisfactory.

"Whew~" Wang Qiang exhaled a long breath, and with this release, his chest began to heave violently uncontrollably.

No wonder Wang Qiang appeared so disheveled; if Wu Chao had been a few seconds slower, he feared he would have been petrified by the charging Corpse Dog.

Clearly, the resurrected Wang Qiang was brimming with anger, and once his breath was evened out, he turned his attention to the "damn bastard" Wu Chao had smashed into the car.

"Woof!" The Corpse Dog was equally enraged. It had clearly touched the prey's coat but inexplicably found itself distanced from its target.

It desperately leapt around, attempting to use the height of the seats to jump out of the carriage.

Unfortunately, its physiological structure meant it could only barely cling to the roof window with its forepaws at best.

Undoubtedly, the Corpse Dog posed no threat anymore; it was truly, as the saying goes, "a turtle trapped in a jar."

Although during the entire hunt, the Corpse Dog's innate hunting instincts led it to perform astonishing feats, its wisdom was ultimately insufficient compared to humans.

Wang Qiang swiftly aimed at the moment when the dog's paw reached for the car roof, decisively stomping down and pinning it there accurately.

Transforming from prey to predator in such a short time, Wang Qiang took less than a minute.

However, just stepping on a dog's paw and hearing its howls wasn't enough to quell the anger in Wang Qiang's heart at that moment. He held his Snake Spear expressionlessly and stabbed at the Corpse Dog barking "woof" at him in the car.

The spear tip plunged down through the open mouth, immediately causing black-red blood to gush out from the Corpse Dog's throat.

Such a cruel torment it was; even for Wang Qiang, the executor, it made him uncontrollably feel like something was churning in his mouth.

He spat, realizing that the inherent closure of the dog's mouth had prevented him from withdrawing the Snake Spear.

Unwillingly, Wang Qiang exerted more force, but the Corpse Dog's strong jaws were like a giant clamp, resisting all attempts to sway or forcefully pull the spear out.

Beyond that, Wang Qiang even saw that where the dog's teeth clamped down, the thick wooden pole was wearing away at a visible rate. It was evident that given enough time, the beast could use its sharp teeth to gnaw through the stick.

Horrified, Wang Qiang's fury was only further fueled.

"Damn, you dog can really take it! Fine! Let's see how much more you can take!" As he spoke, Wang Qiang glanced back at Tang Xiaoquan and shouted, with eyes like burning flames, "Give me your kitchen knife!"

Slightly stunned, Tang Xiaoquan was pondering their next moves, and Wang Qiang's shout caught him off guard.

But before he could say anything, a robust figure approached from behind, "Brother Wang! Use mine!"

A coarse, large hand, holding a blood-stained blade, reached out to Wang Qiang.

This time it was Wang Qiang's turn to be a bit dumbfounded; the speaker was none other than Wei Dazhuang, who had just carried out the beheading operation.

"Da... Brother Zhuang..." Wang Qiang responded unconsciously, his voice trailing, clearly not expecting Wei Dazhuang to initiate a conversation with him.

What shocked him even more was that the latter used the term "Brother Wang," making Wang Qiang doubt his ears.

After all, there was a deep-seated conflict between him and Wei Dazhuang, a rift that he believed the latter would absolutely not, and could not, forgive or forget any time soon.

What Wang Qiang was unaware of was that his resolute words when Wei Dazhuang was at a critical juncture had unwittingly touched the latter's heart, which had long been closed off.

"Brother Zhuang! You focus on your task! As long as I'm here, not even a damn beast will get near you!"

Noticing Wang Qiang hadn't moved, Wei Dazhuang repeated more forcefully, "Take it! Brother Wang!"

This time his tone was noticeably more assertive.

"O-okay!" Prompted by Dazhuang's insistence, Wang Qiang instinctively took hold of the Scythe.

Now gripping the handle firmly, he heard Dazhuang's low voice instructing, "Finish that beast!"

"Mhm!" With a decisive nod, Wang Qiang knew exactly what he meant.

Gripping the Scythe, he turned back around; inside the car, the Corpse Dog continued its futile struggling, though now the Snake Spear lodged in its mouth hindered its movements.

Wang Qiang didn't delay any further; he had already given the beast too many chances to breathe, so now...

He crouched down, and upon seeing its prey approach voluntarily, the Corpse Dog was agitated with excitement.

Watching the bloodthirsty greed in the Corpse Dog's eyes, Wang Qiang's lips curled into a sinister smile.

"Want to eat me? Heh, let's see if you have what it takes!"

With that, the uniquely curved blade of the Scythe wrapped around the Corpse Dog's neck, Wang Qiang gave a slight lift, and when the inner blade touched the dog's neck skin, he suddenly exerted force and then fiercely pulled, creating a shocking blood trail along the Corpse Dog's neck.

In an instant, a large pool of blood gushed down like a breached flood, staining the Corpse Dog's rotten black skin vivid red.

Wang Qiang had no interest in torturing the Corpse Dog, so after bleeding it dry, he raised the knife and ended the poor creature's miserable life.

By then, all five beasts were dead; the survivors' achievements were impressively rich.

However, the price they paid for it was also incredibly steep!

Under Tang Xiaoquan's guidance, the weary and exhausted Wang Qiang finally descended into the factory.

Meanwhile, Lin Junfu hurried to have the factory doors opened, bringing the stalled Buick GL8 back inside.

After all, the vehicle was currently just against the wall, and if a few more beasts attacked, they could use the Buick's roof to breach the factory.

When everything was sorted and the factory doors tightly shut once more, all survivors involved in the harvest mission exhaled deeply with relief.

Each of them understood in their hearts that surviving this mission was nothing short of a blessing.
