Rotting Land: Survive

Chapter 254: Car Key (Part 3)

Old Lin and Old Zhao also noticed Tang Xiaoquan's thoughts. They called him over, gathered in one place, and had a brief discussion about the current urgent situation.

"For supplies, in terms of food, we have 2 bags of instant noodles, half a bag of biscuits, and some small packaged snacks. As for water, apart from that moldy water in the thermoses, we still have about 3 bottles of mineral water and 2 cans of beverages."

After listening to Zhao Yunhai's inventory, Lin Junfu and Tang Xiaoquan both had a serious expression appear on their faces.

Undoubtedly, the situation was worse than they imagined! Leaving aside other things, just the scarcity of water already forced them to make a decision:

Either risk it all and fight their way out; or stay holed up in the City Management Bureau and wait until the resources run out.

But no matter which choice, for the current survivors, it was an endless darkness with no light in sight.

Sure enough, after discussing for a while, Lin, Tang, and Zhao still couldn't come up with a relatively feasible solution.

"Well! Things have come to this, in my opinion, we might as well rush out and take a chance!" Lin Junfu decided to just "break the jar" with no turning back.

To this, Zhao Yunhai also agreed, saying, "Yes! Old Lin is right, staying here is also death, we might as well give it a shot, maybe some of us can make it, and even if we all perish heroically, that's better than waiting here to die!"

Tang Xiaoquan looked at the two elders. To be honest, from his own mind, he was very reluctant to adopt such a near "suicidal" method proposed by them.

But the harsh reality forced Tang Xiaoquan to admit that "fighting" might indeed be their last way to find a "chance of survival."

The discussion fell into dead silence for a while, with King Tang, Lin, and Zhao all frowning and staying silent. Eventually, it was Lin Junfu who broke the silence.

"Alright! Things are what they are, let's not get too depressed, so we don't worry the others. How about this... let's each calm down and think if there's a better solution! If not, then we'll do what we just discussed!"

Lin Junfu tried to make his voice sound as calm as possible, but Tang Xiaoquan and Zhao Yunhai both understood that barring a miracle happening now, otherwise...

"Okay, let's leave it at that for now, um~ Little Tang, go tell Zhao Huilong to take a moment to go to the Water Room and take a shower, that smell on him..." With an exaggerated sweeping gesture, Tang Xiaoquan understood Old Zhao was trying to lighten the mood, so he immediately smiled and said, "Sure, I'll go tell him now."

Old Zhao nodded affirmatively, then pointed towards the path ahead and added: "Let's split up then, I'll go find him some clothes."

Zhao Huilong's condition was vastly better than Hu Xiaodong's, as he put it himself, he felt like he was reborn. Although a bit exaggerated, it reflected the miserable and horrifying time he experienced over the past two months from another perspective.

After a night of peaceful sleep, Zhao Huilong could now walk on his own, which was why Old Zhao felt confident enough to suggest he take a bath.

However, perhaps because he had been alone for too long, or because he was too lonely, since this morning, Zhao Huilong seemed like a madman, continuously pestering others for conversation, even though he was still breathing unevenly and would pant heavily after saying a few words.

So, most of the time, you'd see others talking and him listening, and for the currently besieged survivors, they mostly weren't interested in this, except for Wang Qiang, who was somewhat thick-skinned.

Sure enough, from afar, Tang Xiaoquan heard his brother's high-spirited talk, and from the excited and exuberant tone, it wasn't hard to guess that he was probably bragging about his "heroic deeds" again.

Shaking his head helplessly, Tang Xiaoquan walked to the door where Zhao Huilong was, and the two were indeed "happily knee-to-knee," so much so that they didn't notice a living person like Tang Xiaoquan standing at the door.

To this, Tang Xiaoquan could only respond with a helpless, bitter smile. He knocked on the door and cleared his throat a couple of times to signal his presence.

The sudden sound made Wang Qiang slightly stunned, as his just-raised right hand froze in mid-air. He looked at the door in surprise, and a faint blush appeared on his tired face.

"You~ oh, it's Quan, why are you here?"

Seeing his brother's slightly embarrassed expression, Tang Xiaoquan found it somewhat amusing. Clearly, the latter was ashamed of his "embellished" "speech."

So...

Acting as if nothing happened, Tang Xiaoquan walked up to Wang Qiang, feigned an innocent expression, and sarcastically said with a playful tone, "Why, can't I come? Or am I interrupting your lecture?"

The word "lecture" left Wang Qiang even more flustered, and his response was to push Tang Xiaoquan slightly, of course, not with much force, mainly to let the latter know the consequences of "speaking nonsense": "Alright! Don't look for trouble! So, what brings you here?"

Knowing his brother's temperament, Tang Xiaoquan knew the jokes should stop, or else given the latter's personality, he might truly become "angry out of embarrassment."

So without further ado, he got straight to the point about his intention: "I'm here for Brother Long. So, Brother Long, how's your recovery now?"

"It's okay, just a bit weak!" Zhao Huilong also responded honestly, and as he spoke, he got up and took a couple of steps, seemingly to prove his condition.

Seeing the latter still walking "comfortably," Tang Xiaoquan's last concern faded away. He then relayed Old Zhao's suggestion: "Since that's the case, go next door to Uncle Chao's for a bucket of water, then head to the Water Room for a simple wash, and Uncle Zhao will get you a set of new clothes."

Upon hearing this, Zhao Huilong instinctively raised his arm and sniffed his armpit. Honestly, being cooped up in a storage room full of filth for so long had made him accustomed to those nauseating odors, and he hadn't felt any discomfort from them until now.

However, "being human again," he gave an understanding and affirmative response.

Watching Zhao Huilong awkwardly walk out of the room, Wang Qiang felt embarrassed again, as the big words he had just spoken were indeed somewhat absurd.

Thinking for a few seconds, he also took the excuse of helping carry water as an opportunity to leave.

But just before reaching the door, Tang Xiaoquan suddenly grabbed his arm from behind and whispered with a bit of mystery:

"Qiang! Wait a moment!!"
