Rise Of The Death Monarch

Chapter 70: Sit Back And Watch

Dante watched the metal tub shake as the green liquid bubbled just when a groaning sound echoed out, Lilith's eyes widened in shock, muttering. ''What creature are you making, Death?''

''I'm not to sure myself,'' he responded.

A few heartbeats later, the green liquid the massive tub began to drain, swirling down, letting out a low gurgle that echoed through the chamber. As the stuff vanished, a heavy grinding sound echoed through the air, and the metal door slid open with a slow hiss. His breath caught in his throat.

His jaw fell as a colossal figure emerged from the shadows. The creature towered at an imposing twelve feet, its form a grotesque parody of humanity, sculpted from rippling, corded muscle that seemed to pulse thanks to his death mana. Its humanoid shape was creepy, broad shoulders and thick arms but something was profoundly wrong.

Its skin, if it could be called that, shimmered with an metallic sheen, and its red eyes glowed with a faint, unsettling glint. The proportions were off, and a face that was both familiar and alien, as if it had been carved from a nightmare. Each step it took shook the ground, and the air grew thick with an primal dread.

Dante got excited at the sight but before he could move a heavy leather coat covered the being, acting like armor. He shook his head and scanned the beast using Death Eyes to see what rank it was.

[Death Tyrant - S-Rank]

His eyes widened, prompting him to buy two more.

[Death Points: 27,000>17,000]

[Dead Bodies: 325,230>285,230]

Moments later, the tub close the door as the first Tyrant stepped toward a nearby wall and stood there like a statue. Lilith watched this with awe on her face, he leaned over and teased the Death Witch. ''Amazing isn't it? I bought two more to destroy the incoming Darkmoore soldiers. I'm sure it will shock everyone if three of these monsters chagred toward them.''

The blonde trembled at his words, a bright smile stretched across the older woman's face. ''I can't wait to see what they can do,'' she excitedly said.

Following that, the lab got to work making the other two Death Tyrants that took about an hour thanks to another metal tub appeared beside the first. Once the creatures were created he had them wait by the wall. Once that was finished, Dante looked at the other monsters on the list and decided againt buying anymore, he needed to save the points.

They returned to the room where Luna was waiting by the window, glancing out as her tail swayed side to side. Her ears twitched before turning to them. ''Looks like the first battles have began, Everwest have lost so far, the battered soldiers are returning to Rockhearth.;;

This caught Dante's attention, prompting him to approached the window only to see a column of injured humans trailing through the quiet village. Their commanders looked worn out as the other soldiers carried the injured. ''Looks like the kingdom is close, should we test the new weapons Lily?''

When the Death Witch heard this, her red eyes lit up but Luna's curiousity was too much, forcing her to ask. ''What weapons have you got now, master?''

''You'lll see, my wolf,'' he replied.

After this, they packed up and made their way downstairs only to realize people were taking cover in the inn. Dante pushed his way through the crowd as the two women followed until stepping outside. The trio headed toward the battle and it wasn't hard to find thanks to the black smoke in the distance.

While walking, Luna appaeared beside him as she asked in a hopeful voice. ''Can I join in on the fight? I want to have some fun.''

Dante glanced at her, a knowing grin crossing his face. ''Weren't the other night good? I thought you enjoyed it?''

After the older woman listened to his words, her blue eyes widened in surprise as she quickly explaned. ''I didn't mean that! I want to fight, will you let me?''

He chuckled at her reaction before respondin to his wolf. ''Yes you can. There will be many enemy soldiers to kill, but remember? Collect the bodies for me.''

Luna got excited just as the three stepped out of the north gate, ignoring the guards warnings. When outside, Lilith spoke up. ''Do you want me to take the Death Wyvern to scout out the numbers?''

''Yes,'' Dante nodded.

Following that, he summoned the giant beast once they were far enough away from Rockhearth. The blonde climbed on it's back before the Wyvern took off, flying toward the incoming Darkmoore army. Once she was gone, he turned to Luna. ''You can transform now, scouts will be heading our way.''

Just as those words left his lips, several human riders appeared in the distance, heading straight for them. When the older woman saw this, her smile grew wide as she began to shift into her giant Dark Wolf form. She charged toward them, leaping through the air and taking one of the enemy's out by snapping her jaws around him.

Dante's crimson eyes blazed as he launched himself forward, his body was a blur of motion while charging toward the enemy commander. With a thought, he summoned his twin daggers. Two of A-Rank knights, clad in heavy armor, moved to block him, their swords slashing through the air.

His movements were a dance of skill; he dodged their strikes. Moments later, he drove one dagger into the skull of the nearest knight, the blade sinking deep with a sickening crunch. Without slowing down, he hurled his second dagger, the weapon spinning before embedding itself in the chest of another foe.

Both knights collapsed, lifeless, Dante's momentum carried him ever closer to his true target, the scout commander. His boots struck the earth as he closed the distance to the human, who faltered for a fleeting moment, he registered the demon-eyed warrior barreling toward him.

The commander raised his broadsword and barked orders to his remaining men. But Dante was a force unbound, his lips curling into a feral grin as he summoned his daggers from the dead knights. With a sidestep, he avoided the man's desperate swing, the heavy blade cleaving only air.

Seconds later, Dante vaulted forward, driving both daggers into the commander's chest, pinning him to the ground. The man's eyes widened in shock, a gurgling gasp escaping his lips, he twisted the blades, making sure the human died. With a final snarl, the body went limp, the enemy's weapon clattering uselessly to the dirt.

Behind, chaos erupted as Luna, tore through the remaining enemy ranks. Her black fur gleamed under the fading light, each stride shaking the ground, paws crushed stone and bone alike. The older woman's blue eyes glowed as she with a deafening roar, she lunged, jaws snapping shut around an unfortunate scout, his armor crumpling .

Another soldier raised his spear, only to be swatted aside by a swipe of her claws, his body sent hurtling through the air like a ragdoll. Luna's howls reverberated across the battlefield, a symphony of destruction that drowned out the screams. Dante yanked his daggers free, wiping the blood on his sleeve, he glanced back at Luna.

She was killing the remaining scouts just as one fled into the distance but the Death Wyvern crashed down, crushing the human under it's claws. The monster began eating the horses around it.

Lilith jumped off the creatures back as she rushed over to them, revealing. ''There are tens of thousands of soldiers, they beat the Everwest armies and now heading here to take the borderlands.''

''Good,'' he replied, grinning. ''Now we can gain more bodies for the Death Army.''

Dante sent the Wyvern back to the Domain as he brought out three chairs, placed them in the middle of the road. He sat down surprising the two women as Lilith questioned, her voice barely restraining her excitement. ''We waiting for them? This is going to be good.''

Luna had returned to her humanoid form and slumped down, pulling out a cup of hot chocolate. She began drinking just as the sound of drums echoed across the landscape, causing the older woman's ears to twitch. ''They're close, Dante. Should I transform again?'' she asked.

Dante shook his head. ''No need, just sit back and watch.''

He waved a hand and opened a portal to the Domain as the three massive Death Tyrants stepped out, shocking Luna whose tail went stiff when looking at the creatures just as he ordered. ''Wipe out the human army, and make sure you do it close enough for us to watch.''

The creatures nodded in agreement, stepping in front of them as the wolf woman looked at him, speaking. ''I'm guessing the Death Goddess gave you some other power to cause chaos?''

''Yes, it's part of the Domain,'' he answered. ''It's going to make things easier from now on.''
