Belron's words sounded confident.
But Caius saw through it.
He saw worry.
There was no doubt about it in his mind, they had shaken the Fiend.
Further proof of this was when, despite its 'confident' grin, Belron coated itself with a shell of Demonic Energy.
The Fiend had had no issues with using just its skin to contend with Aurelius's attacks. But after a couple of hits of Delia's Warhammer and Caius's spells, it now needed extra protection?
If that wasn't a sign that they were doing something right, Caius didn't know what was.
Delia must have been of the same mind because she went at Belron as hard as ever. The Fiend faced her squarely, casting a Demonic Circle to rain down attacks.
Delia parried a good bit with Warhammer swings. Veins were popping out of her arms now as she called her muscles to action with the Von Helsing Regimen to grant her the strength for such easy wielding.
Most of her defense was with magic though and she didn't even have to form seals. She simply conceived the thought and spell circles spawned to appearance to deflect, absorb or just implode with attacks and keep her safe.
All around her now—compounded with the darkness thanks to Nyx's backing—Delia had a storm raging. It was always active. Only given specific instructions depending on her whim.
And the sounds that followed the execution of said attacks were so powerful that Caius was sure his eardrum would have been shattered if not for him being empowered as he currently was.
Spell casting from below wasn't going to cut it so Caius knew he had to get into the air as well. His shifted form would be frankly useless if all he planned on doing was casting spells at a distance. But of course that had never been the plan. He just needed an opening for…
A streak of light cut off Caius's thoughts and he watched Aurelius return to the fray.
Aether's apostle called on his Goddess's might—at least what he was allowed to call upon at the moment—and cast ~Freya's Benevolence.
A woman made of light appeared in the air and rained down rays of light that were meant to bypass the physical boundaries and attack something within. But they reflected off the shell of defense Belron had on.
Aurelius didn't allow himself to be disheartened. He got back in close combat with the Fiend, mixing in the occasional attacking magic spells, all of which Belron continued to shrug off.
Or so it appeared.
But Caius knew better.
"That should be good enough," he said and then bent down, tensing as every muscle in his body—those he had become aware of with the Von Helsing Regimen—allowed him to spring about ten feet into the air. He was just in range of Belron and now had a cloud of darkness at his feet, keeping him afloat.
He stretched out his hand and a spell circle appeared. It was a mysterious combination of tree colors; Green, Red, and Purple. Evidence of three elements included within; Wind, Fire, and Dark Magic.
~Dark Erratic Flame~
With a proper balance of wind swirling, fire blazing and Darkness empowering, a Dark flame flickered erratically with the same tell-tale inbuilt instability as the previous iteration; ~Erratic Fireball~.
The three separate spells Caius had used to create this unstable amalgamation were all at the Fourth Circle and what was born from that, easily surpassed the Fourth Circle. Going even further with Nyx's backing.
But Caius's wasn't done.
With one hand to keep the ~Dark Erratic Flame~ in check, he retrieved a weapon from his Storage Ring; A Dagger with a tear-drop shaped blade and a crystal handle.
It was the *Winter's Tear* he had won from Baler weeks ago.
There had been no way it wouldn't be useful but Caius had to admit he never planned to use it here.
But he had to.
It had just the power and natural opposition to what he had already made to increase the instability.
With that, Caius unleashed the Fifth Circle chilling energy within the Crystal handle of the dagger, controlling it to merge with the ~Dark Erratic Flame~.
The ice repelled the fire but Caius forced the symbiosis. Doing this on a whim would have been impossible and even deadly but he was empowered with Divine Energy.
He could handle this much.
He hoped.
Because he wasn't done.
"Aurelius!" He called.
The Light Mage turned around then.
"Cast a spell!" Caius yelled, "Cast it here!"
"Are you mad?" Aurelius asked with wide eyes as he watched Caius try to contain the unstable coalition of Elemental Magic in his hands.
"Probably," Caius admitted mostly to himself but insisted, "If you want to live, do it!"
Aurelius looked from Caius to Belron and back and then groaned as he stretched his spear, conjuring a spell circle marked with Divine Scripts that went on to merge with the unstable creation.
"~Warding~…" Caius whispered the name of Aurelius's Light Magic spell.
It wasn't a particularly powerful spell. It didn't attack. It didn't defend. It was only for warding off 'evil energies' which in this case would be demonic energy. Still, because it was weak, Belron wouldn't even need his Demonic layer to defend against it.
But Caius thought it was perfect.
The goal here was synergy. It wasn't about the most powerful spell but making them 'work together'.
On that note, Caius felt like his entire body was getting torn by impossibly opposing energies. Fire, wind, and ice were fine. Crazy but doable.
Dark and Light though… That was forbidden.
He could feel Nyx glaring at him with displeasure.
'Forgive me,' Caius said managing a smile through the dance destroying pain.
The forbidden nature was exactly why it needed to be done. The sheer impossible nature of it was what would do it. Caius just had to live long enough to make the attack.
"Delia!" He yelled then, "Hold it down!"
Delia sprang to obey. Belron aimed attacks at her to stop. It aimed attacks at Caius as well but Caius didn't care. The attacks didn't matter. Nothing else did besides what he had in his hands.
Still connected to the ~Warding~ spell he had added into the mix, Aurelius wasn't all that sure what Caius was trying to accomplish. He just knew he was right to think he was mad.
Still, he went in, swinging his spear at the attacks Belron aimed at Caius and deflecting or completely decimating them.
Caius completed the synergy. Using his Divine energy as the binding factor.
Nyx was vehemently against it. Against her power touching a spell born of her sisters. He wasn't connected to her but Caius was sure it was the same for Aether, the Goddess of Divine Light.
Still, it was his Divine energy. Nyx was backing it and giving it the required potency but the Divine energy was essentially still his. She could rage but unless she withdrew her backing, this was going to happen.
He hoped she didn't do that though. It couldn't work without her.
"Aurelius!" Caius yelled, "STEP ASIDE!"
And then he let the unstable multiple-compounded-Element spell go.
Delia had managed to evade all of Belron's defensive spells and she grappled the Fiend. The metal handle of her Warhammer was held to its throat while she wrapped them both with Lightning. She had an immunity to the element and added to the fact that it was conjured by her, it might as well have been caressing her body for all its violently crackling energy.
There was chaos within that Lightning. The very feel of it was vital to why Belron was held in place even if its attacking feel didn't get through the protective shell.
Still, the Fiend wasn't too worried. It had its defenses and no spell, even those coated with Divine energy had gotten past yet.
Alas, this one did.
The compound spell attack's insane instability vibrated it at such a frequency that it phased through attacks coming at Caius, phased through Demonic circles and shields.
And finally, it phased through the layer Belron had around itself, so the whole of that Erratic energy could enter its body.
Delia let the Fiend go then and joined Caius and Aurelius in watching Belron pause and twitch before its red furry hindquarters trembled and it opened its mouth to let out a yell that shook the Sealing Cube in its expression of pain.
"ARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!"
