It was nearing evening when Caius exited a Portal Gate Arlette had opened in her home to deliver him directly into Lochxen Corridors.
The sun beginning to set really put into perspective just how much time had passed. The Mid-Semester tests had started quite early in the morning, and as much danger as there had been, it had lasted only a few hours at best and ended before Noon. More hours had passed since that ending. Hours that Caius had spent either unconscious or awake in Arlette's company.
Speaking of Arlette, she had had the same look as Caius when he picked up his torn uniform off the ground and put it on. The look that she didn't want to let him go but knew it had to be done. Because they both had responsibilities.
Arlette was taking a bit more time in her private Residence at the moment but she was sure to dress up soon so she could meet with the other Professors. The meetings to be had couldn't happen on the screen interface of the 'Staff Room'. They had to be in person.
Plus, the Lochxen Headmistress was said to be on the way back to the Academy and was sure to want to speak to the Professors as well as the students.
"The Headmistress?" Caius had said as he buckled up his Pants.
Arlette nodded solemnly.
"She's usually not at the Academy and leaves a lot of her duties to her Deputy. Not today though."
When Caius looked at Arlette, she took it as a question and clarified,
"Professor Melvin. He's Deputy Headmaster."
Caius laughed a little.
"Of course he is," he said.
He had indeed forgotten that Professor Melvin held such an important post. It hardly ever came up in a real way to let him know. Whatever administrative duties Professor Melvin took on in the Headmistress's absence, happened so much behind the scenes, it might as well be nonexistent. To Caius anyway.
The courtyard at the First Year section of the Academy was crowded. The entire school might just be gathered there. Talking among themselves with their voices raised in noise that Caius found annoying.
And that was before someone yelled out.
"Hey, it's Von Helsing!"
Everyone looked then and soon, they were coming over. Caius's eyes widened at the horror of their approach. Fortunately, Arlette had dropped him off quite close to the infirmary and so before the crowd got within five feet of him, he had turned the necessary corner and grabbed a door handle, twisting it open.
He walked in and the infirmary was almost as crowded as the courtyard. This time though, Caius wasn't quite so averse to it. If anything, he felt a bit of shame. Inside the Infirmary were the First Years who were spotting various levels of injury and fatigue.
Mending Potions are often only a first-aid kind of solution. For humans/humanoids anyway. You drink it to heal some of your injuries and boost your body to continue the process while gaining the strength to continue the fight or move over to where you can get a thorough check-up.
The truth is, healing, even in a world of Magic, is not really so instantaneous. Especially if the injury is caused through magical means. So while everyone in the infirmary had been given potions and tended to, the vast majority were not yet at one hundred percent.
The moment Caius opened the door, the noise from the outside poured in, drawing attention to him. And when he closed the door, the attention didn't go away.
For a second, no one said a word.
And then someone—Doran?—called out.
"There he is," he said, "Our Savior!"
It sounded so cheesy. Especially when he started to clap. And yet, no one opposed. Hell, they all joined in and clapped as well. Creating an environment almost as chaotic as the one outside. Even some of the Healers standing by joined in.
Caius's heart sank.
'Well, fuck,' he thought while standing in place.
When someone drew close and patted him on the shoulder though, he knew to move quickly and find who he was here to see before too many people got a chance to touch him.
"Well done, Von Helsing!"
"Way to keep Demon butt!"
"Hey, be honest, Delia did most of the work, didn't she?"
"Nah, I bet it was Aurelius. That golden genius. You helped too, I'm sure."
Caius shut all that aside. But he did notice the few who didn't clap. Namely, Baler Khione and one other guy, whose name Caius didn't care to know. But even they had looks of mild respect.
Never had Caius thought he'd prefer the look on Baler's face as well as his reaction to that of everyone else.
And then Doran was in front of him.
"Kaya and the others right?" He asked and then grabbed Caius's arm before he could even say a word.
Doran led Caius through the infirmary and despite how crowded it looked, it was actually very spacious. At the very end, there was a partition with curtains and when Doran stopped, Caius knew they had arrived.
Doran stepped aside. He seemed to know he wasn't to enter with Caius.
And so, after taking a breath, Caius pulled the partition of curtains aside, and behind it was a bed. Lying on that bed was Kaya whose face brightened at the sight of him. Her slightly pointy ears also twitched a bit.
Standing by her bed were Eloise and Aylin and they both already had their eyes toward the entry like they had been expecting him. And of course, they had. They surely must have heard people chant his name.
There was a thrilling sound and suddenly golden-brown hair covered Caius's vision as Eloise's arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him into a hug. She pressed her face into the crook of his neck while saying in a voice muffled by her mouth's contact with his body,
"You're okay. Thank the gods!"
Caius laughed and wrapped his arms around her as well.
"I should be the one saying that," he said.
Eloise pulled back then and kissed him gently. Or at least it started gently and grew more passionate of her own volition. It had been so hard for her to stay in here when she first heard Doran call out his name. But she had stayed because she believed that if he came here, then they could have privacy for her to do this.
The kiss would have gone on for so much longer had Aylin not cleared her throat as though to remind Eloise that while they were indeed in private, Caius and Eloise were not alone.
Eloise pulled away then.
"Oh, right," she said in her sing-song voice and with her beautiful face flushed red.
Of course, Aylin hadn't been seeking modesty. She had only wanted her turn as was clear when she was quick to replace Eloise and wrap her arms around Caius's neck. Her large breasts were pressed hard into his chest as she shoved her tongue as deep into his mouth as it could go.
She got carried away even more than Eloise and raised one of her legs to wrap around Caius to pull him even harder against her body.
Eloise's mouth fell open then like she was stunned by Aylin's audacity to call her to order only to be a lot worse. She cleared her throat many times but the Ice Mage didn't pull away. If anything, whenever Eloise cleared her throat, Aylin got more excited and intensified the kiss.
The only thing that broke through the haze of pleasure that had swarmed Aylin's head was when she heard a laugh. A carefree and beautiful laugh that did cause her to feel a little bit of shame.
The laugh had come from Kaya who had sat up on the lone bed within the partition. And who, among all three ladies here, deserved her moment with Caius the most?
Only that laugh could curb the spell of desire Aylin was under as she extricated herself from Caius through much effort, and stepped aside so he could check on the beautiful half-elf.
