Ascendant Path of a Lustful Vampire

Chapter 339: I’ll do better *

Minutes passed after that, and while the narration's energy remained one of excitement with the ladies, Caius could not quite match it. Especially not when the ladies began to talk about the last combat situation they experienced and what Kaya had to do to keep the Beasts at bay.

It was so worrying to hear about it—even though it was now in the past—that it almost overshadowed the incredible news that Kaya could now call on the power of Nature.

Caius hadn't known Kaya had made that much progress with her magic. She was far ahead of schedule in that regard. Still, there was a limit and he knew that.

Essentially, at the moment, all Kaya could do was use the power of Nature to support her limited Mana reserves. So the power of the magic she could create from this was still largely dependent on what she herself was capable of.

I.e At the Fourth Circle as she was, even if she could keep a spell going indefinitely, the strength of said spell would still be at the Fourth Circle. And it also wasn't indefinite. As proven by how she had gotten tapped out and nearly burned her life force to buy the First Years some time.

"Caius, what about you?" Kaya asked then.

"Hmm?" Caius answered with a raised brow, "What about me?"

"How was the fight within the Sealing Cube?" Kaya asked with an expression that the others matched. It was excitement tempered with reservation.

They believed that, as stressful and scary as their experiences might have been, Caius must have faced worse. After all, he, Delia, and Aurelius actually faced off against a Demon. Surely, nothing the trio of ladies had faced could compare to that.

Caius looked a little confused now.

"Did Delia not tell you?" He asked.

He had assumed that in the hours he had spent in Arlette's residence, Delia would have been tended to and at some point, regaled the ladies with all the details.

Kaya got a look on her face.

"What?" Caius asked her and turned to Eloise who had a similar look.

It was Aylin who answered Caius's question before he asked it again.

"Caius, we haven't spoken to Delia yet," she said, "Last we saw of her, she was getting lifted out of the Forest. Her and Aurelius. We didn't see you at all."

'Because Arlette got to me first and smuggled me away to keep my Vampirism secret,' Caius thought.

"I see," he said out loud.

"We heard they're fine though," Kaya piped then, "They're keeping them somewhere else for… reasons, I don't know. No one is telling us anything."

"So it really was a Demon?" Eloise asked then, in a low voice. It was all known to everyone now but she seemed to he hoping Caius would say something different.

He didn't.

"A Fiend, actually," Caius said and nodded, "But essentially the same thing. So yes, a Demon."

"A Demon—Fiend—from Hell?" Eloise said, her voice even lower now as she tried again for a varying opinion.

"Yep," Caius answered.

"What was it doing here?" Aylin asked with a furrowed brow and her arms folded beneath her large breasts.

"I heard Demons feed on souls. Maybe it wanted ours," Eloise said then and shivered a little.

"Really? Where did you hear that?" Aylin asked with a scoff.

"Somewhere," Eloise said in a sheepish voice.

"Yeah, right," Aylin said with a little laugh.

Caius listened to the little back of forth and then his eyes moved and he saw Kaya had been observing him. It was clear by the look in her leaf-green eyes that she was piecing a few things together.

Whether she was going to question him about it or not wasn't clear because right as she opened her mouth, the noise from outside flooded into the Infirmary to signal that someone had opened the door.

There was the sound of boots hitting the ground in quick, sure strides as well as the First Year Students greeting and saying 'Professor' over and over again.

The Professor arrived at the partition and a large hand reached out to grab the curtains before pulling them aside to reveal the large and ever-enthusiastic face of Raoul Raoul.

"Caius," he said with a grin, "Heard you were here."

As happy as Raoul looked to see Caius, stress was so clear to see all over him. The past few hours didn't seem to have gone all that smoothly for him.

"Professor," Caius greeted. The girls chanted the same greeting.

"Hello ladies," Professor Raoul acknowledged the greeting with a nod and then looked at Caius again,

"Von Helsing, come with me."

There was a brief pause before Caius looked resigned. He had expected this.

"Yes, Professor," he said, "But may I have a minute?"

"Sure," Raoul answered and stayed right where he was. But when four pairs of eyes began staring at him, he finally seemed to realize he was intruding on the moment.

He nodded and cleared his throat.

"I'll be right outside," he said and let the curtain fall back in place to block him from view.

Caius smiled a little in amusement and when he laid his eyes on Kaya, the smile became even wider as he moved up until his face was right in front of hers where he took hold of her delicate-looking chin in a gentle grip.

He touched his lips to hers. The kiss was light, intimate… gentle.

Kaya groaned. It wasn't a sound of pleasure but rather one of annoyance. She pulled back so her lips were free to move and she could speak.

"I'm pretty sure I told you I was fine," she said.

"You did," Caius admitted.

"Then why are you kissing me like you're afraid to break me?" Kaya asked with a raised brow and an annoyed whisper.

Caius laughed a little.

"I suppose I did do that, didn't I?"

"Yes, you did."

"I'll do better," Caius promised.

"You'd better!" Kaya answered with a hand raised to the back of his head.

They kissed again and true to his word, Caius did do better. In fact, he might have done too well. As Kaya pulled him up onto her body. Her chest heaved, pressing her breasts against him as she began to writhe and did nothing to hold her moans and groans back.

As carried away as Eloise might have been earlier and as 'aggressive' as Aylin may have been, Kaya was three times 'worse' because at least the other two remembered where they were and kept it in mind.

As far as Kaya was concerned however, everything outside the partition didn't quite exist. The fact that the entire class was out there didn't matter. The fact that the Mage-Knight Professor was right outside the curtain was unimportant.

To his credit, Caius got carried away as well. One of his hands was moving down Kaya's side, working its way behind her to rub across her back and down to her wonderful ass before he was brought back to his senses.

He laughed a little into the kiss and gently grabbed both sides of Kaya's face to pull her away from him. Or at least indicate they should stop for now so she could allow herself to be pulled away. Otherwise, he wouldn't put it past her to bind him to herself with vines.

He and Kaya separated with a crisp and very audible sound. Caius looked around and Eloise and Aylin had watched the whole thing—of course, they had—and had looks that were a mix of desire and jealousy.

"I have to go," Caius said with a little smile and then said with a somewhat stern voice, "Rest. I'll see you later."

Caius stood up then and noticed the looks on both Eloise and Aylin's faces were getting so intense that they might just jump him right there and then. He decided not to tempt them further. He was pulling aside the curtains and walking out of the partition before the 'evil' plans in their heads could take root.
