After their conversation, Forbes returned to the dockyard with a calm expression. He had already confirmed that they had enough space to live in the city, and they just needed to pay the taxes and find work in the city in order to blend in properly.
The meeting with Magnus had gone better than expected. They had been granted entry. Monitored, yes… but they were ultimately safe and that was enough.
Of course, he swiftly spread the news to everyone.
The three airships they brought had carried more than just the Order of the Lore Hunters.
Eighty members of the Order were present, all trained Elementalists from multiple elemental paths. But alongside them were over three hundred others who were part of the Elemental Arts Faction..
A hundred of them were children. The future of the Elemental Arts Faction.
Two hundred were young Arcanists, most of them still in training. The rest were crew members and support staff who had kept the airships running during the long journey.
Forbes stood at the center of the dockyard, watching the unloading process.
There were crates of preserved scrolls, containers of elemental cores, personal belongings, and many others. Everything was being sorted by the workers quite efficiently.
The dockyard itself was massive. Dozens of other airships were docked nearby, some bearing the crest of the Shadow Domain, others marked with neutral symbols.
They seemed to be trade vessels, courier ships, or even patrol crafts.
Clovis City was clearly active in trading…
Forbes turned to two young Elementalists standing nearby. They were Riven and Emra. Both were in their early twenties. Riven specialized in wind manipulation, while Emra had a strong affinity for earth-based constructs.
"Let's explore," Forbes said. "We need to understand this place."
They nodded at the respectable Arcanist and followed him.
From the dockyard, they moved through the main corridor that led into the city.
The streets were clean, paved with dark stone, and there were even glowing lanterns powered by low-grade crystals to light them up.
Although it was not as great as the Elemental Arts Faction's Prima City, this place seemed decent in their eyes.
The first place they passed was the Arcanist Guild branch of the city.
It was a large building with several bulletin boards outside.
Arcanists of all types gathered here to accept tasks, escort missions, resource collection, spell testing, and more. It was clearly one of the busiest hubs in the city.
"The Academy probably uses this place to train students in real-world applications… just like the one in Prima City." Riven noted.
Forbes nodded. "We'll need to register here eventually."
Next, they passed the Arcanist Dueling Grounds.
It was a wide, open structure built with Formation Arrays that they could sense even from the outside…
"Impressive… Divinity even seemed to be involved when this structure was built." Forbess muttered as he noticed and layered the Formation barriers that were applied.
They looked around for a bit and confirmed that the arena was divided into multiple platforms, each surrounded by barriers to prevent stray spells from damaging the city.
Several Arcanists were already engaged in duels, casting, countering, and testing their Spell Models in controlled combat.
Some of them looked young, so they were probably students from the Marshall Academy nearby… While others looked like independent practitioners.
Riven paused. "Hmmm… There's no Elementalist here."
Forbes also looked, but he shook his head.
"There are… Their Academy teaches Dark Arts, Mystic Arts, Psychic Arts, and Elemental Arts… I heard that they were also teaching Holy Arts. They're probably just practicing elsewhere… Somewhere with more Elemental Energy."
Forbes also watched silently as he saw a young Mystic Arts practitioner clash with a Dark Arts Practitioner… The Spells they were using were quite basic, and he couldn't help but sense that their younger generation would enjoy staying here.
After all, there were a lot of talented Arcanists they could train with if they stayed in the city.
The third location that caught their interest within the city was the Library of Clovis City.
Only members could enter…
But it was said to contain numerous Spell Models, research papers, and experimental logs, and many of them had even come from the Immortals…
Although the most important ones could probably be found only in the Marshall Academy, the ones within this library could still not be underestimated.
A few Lore Hunters would likely be assigned here.
Just like that, the small group continued exploring the place…
The fourth was the Market District.
Not just for food and supplies, this area sold alchemy ingredients, enchanted items, and rare materials. Forbes saw a vendor selling Spirit Talismans, while another was offering services to drive out evil spirits or curses.
The fifth location was the Sanctum of Recovery.
A medical facility for Arcanists. It specialized in treating Arcanists with arcane instability, spell backlash, and ritual damage.
Forbes noted the presence of many Mystic Arts practitioners and even a few Holy Arts healers.
The sixth and final location was the Marshall Academy.
It wasn't technically inside the city, but it was part of the city, and it could be seen from a distance that was built on elevated ground…
"That's where you'll be sent," Forbes said while looking at Riven and Emra.
Riven looked at the structure. "It's smaller than the Elemental Temple."
"But it's filled with true Immortals…" Emra replied. "And it's protected by Dragons. That's what I heard."
Forbes smiled and was about to lead Riven and Emra toward the Academy's outer gate when the sky cracked.
It wasn't thunder… It wasn't a spell.
It was a clean, vertical slice that was cutting through the clouds like a blade through parchment.
Everyone in the plaza stopped…
'Chaos Immortal? Are we under attack? They dare to attack the Shadow Domain when they barely managed to defeat our Holy Land?' Forbes was confused.
Then, the air trembled as the pressure dropped.
Forbes narrowed his eyes and looked above. Above Clovis City, a rift had opened.
It was not a portal but a tear in the fabric of space...
From within, a figure stepped out.
Clad in black robes that seemed to swallow any form of light, the man hovered in silence.
It was quite unusual since even the sunlight bent around him.
Soon, an angel appeared above Clovis City to face the Immortal who had arrived rudely.
"An angel?!" Forbes was shocked as he didn't expect that the Domain had an Angel at all!
However, he was even more shocked when he heard the Angel address the man in black robes.
"Void Immortal… What brings you to our skies?"
