Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy

Chapter 1089: Change of Target

Arin didn't wait for Nyssa to recover her balance…

As soon as Haruo disrupted Nyssa's gravity dome, Arin charged forward again, this time with both arms cloaked with Chaos Energy.

Suddenly, this energy started spinning with a mass of corrosive energy spreading around it… Then, it formed a wide net or mantle meant to engulf Haruo's wings!

Haruo realized that they were just planning to humiliate him by capturing him like a bird!

"Fool…"

Haruo thought as he reacted instantly. He raised his arms and summoned a radiant shield of Holy Divinity, a barrier made of compressed Holy Energy and Divinity was the best method to defend against such attacks instead of forming a Spell...

The mantle or net collided with the shield, and for a moment, the sky lit up with clashing energies… One seemed pure, and one looked so unstable as it was twisting the surrounding space.

Boom!

The shield held, but only barely. Cracks formed along its surface, and Haruo was forced to retreat upward to avoid being overwhelmed.

Nyssa reappeared above him, having repositioned during the clash.

Her hands moved a barrage of Chaos needles formed around her…

At this point, she was already aware that the Holy Divinity was just too good against Chaos Divinity… Relying on spells alone would be difficult so they had to be forceful…

'No wonder you're confident fighting the two of us… However, you made a miscalculation…' Nyssa thought…

Each one of her Chaos Needles was designed to pierce through Divinity and disrupt internal flow. She launched them in a wide spread, forcing Haruo to maneuver defensively.

Haruo spun through the air, wings folding and flapping in rhythm, dodging most of the needles. A few grazed his armor, leaving trails of corrosion that sizzled against the Holy metal.

He then retaliated by releasing a burst of Holy pressure, a wave of holy force that pushed Nyssa back and cleared the immediate area.

But Arin was already closing in again.

This time, he didn't aim for Haruo's body. He targeted the space around him, manipulating Chaos currents to distort the wind and compress the air.

Haruo's wings faltered for a moment as the environment turned hostile. His flight pattern broke, and he was forced to descend to stabilize.

Nyssa seized the opportunity.

"Angel! Show us something more! If you're only this strong, you'll die!"

She then activated a Chaos Art that bent the light around Haruo, creating illusions of herself in every direction.

Haruo tried to focus, but the spell disrupted his perception. He struck at one illusion, then another, but each vanished before contact.

The real Nyssa appeared behind him and unleashed a concentrated blast of Chaos energy directly into his back.

Bang!

Haruo's body jerked forward and his Divinity was triggered to protect his body in response. He turned mid-air and countered with a Holy Lance, a condensed projectile of radiant force aimed at Nyssa's chest. She deflected it with a Chaos barrier, but the impact still forced her to retreat.

Arin didn't give Haruo time to recover.

"We've seen enough, Angel… I guess you're weaker than that Asura."

He descended from above, both fists wrapped in Chaos flame.

"Hmph!"

Haruo raised his arms to block, but the force of the impact shattered his defensive posture. The flames didn't burn… They corroded his defense, eating away at the Divinity that protected his body.

Haruo staggered as his glow in his wings dimmed.

He tried to summon another Holy spell, but his flow was disrupted.

The earlier needle barrage had done more damage than he realized. His internal channels were misaligned, and his casting rhythm was broken.

Nyssa reappeared at his flank and struck with a Chaos pulse that targeted his core directly.

BOom!

Haruo's body convulsed as the energy tore through his defenses. He tried to retaliate, but his spell collapsed mid-formation.

"Goodbye…"

Arin followed with a final strike… It was a Chaos chain that wrapped around Haruo's torso and dragged him downward. The chain didn't bind his body. It bound his Divinity!

Haruo struggled as he tried to summon more energy, but the pressure was too much. His body was still intact, but his casting flow was sealed. He couldn't summon another spell. He couldn't fly freely. He couldn't fight anymore!

Kent watched from below and nodded.

"He's done," Neylan said.

Kent nodded. "He lasted longer than I expected."

Above, Haruo hovered weakly, suspended by the Chaos chain. His wings dimmed, and the radiant glow around him faded. Arin and Nyssa didn't strike again…

They didn't need to since the duel was over.

Haruo had been defeated.

Kent then looked at Euphemia City… It was now being attacked by the Chaos Beast.

The city, of course, had its defenders ready. The Arcanists, Magic Automatons, and soldiers with their cannons and siege weapons were fighting against their beasts.

Looking at it, he knew that even if they conquered the city, there would be thousands of Chaos Beasts that would die at this rate… After all, he noticed several Elemental Arts Practitioners focusing on Fire and Lightning were present.

There even seemed to be a figure who was a Grandmaster Level in terms of Lightning Spells.

"Is that the Thunder Emperor?" Kent mused as he recalled from various informants about the top Arcanists of the Continent…

Aside from the Thunder Emperor, he heard about other renowned Arcanists like Isaac Vermont the Necromancer, Gale Evans the Executor, Grand Knight Rose, Aura Master Kai, Clyde the Red Nightmare, and lastly, the duo, Clare and Teresa of the Untainted Sentinels…

These people aren't Immortals. However, they could be considered at the peak of humanity below the Immortals.

If even one of them was present in the city, the Chaos Beast would certainly take a lot of time and make a huge number in order to take over the city.

Kent then turned to Haruo… Now that they captured the Angel, it means that he would have to join their cause…

"Hmm… Let's put a seal on him. For now, it's better not to kill his apprentices… It will be easier to control him if he didn't have a deep grudge against us."

Nyssa and the others agreed since there was a limit to a seal they could put on an immortal.

"Alright… Redirect the beasts. Pull back from Euphemia. Full focus on Clovis."
