Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy

Chapter 1138: Test and Visitors

'Seriously… A Void Arts Practitioner? Where did he even learn this? Is that guy Maya mentioned already spreading his teachings? Did she not mention he wanted to meet me? Is this how he wanted us to get to know each other? Through his disciple or something?' Vale had various thoughts after realizing the identity of Roland.

Still, he decided not to reveal this matter for now. Perhaps, bringing in a Void Arts Practitioner might actually be for the best.

Vale's gaze shifted. "Darius Kane. Your turn."

Darius grinned while drawing his twin sabers.

At the same time, his Aura sharpened into invisible blades that covered the blades in his hands.

"Please go easy on me…" Darius said with a chuckle as he knew that he was no match against an Immortal. Since Vale had Divinity, there was no way he'd get injured.

He was only worried that Vale would fail to control his strength and kill him instead.

Still, Darius needed to show his bravery…

He charged forward while resisting Vale's pressure with his own Aura.

Thud!

Vale parried with just a flick of his hand, and the clash rang through the hall.

Darius expected this difference, so he charged his Aura, and it started biting back, but Vale countered with another surge of Dark Energy…

The mercenary staggered but steadied himself…

"Awesome… but I'm not done yet, Lord Vale…"

He attacked again with his Aura, sharpening into a storm of invisible blades.

Vale raised his hand, deflecting the invisible strikes effortlessly. Sparks of energy scattered across the barrier as Darius pressed harder.

Vale gently nodded as he could already tell the limit of the man's strength.

"Your Aura is sharp, but it bleeds too quickly."

Darius growled, pouring more of his will into his sabers. He didn't mind even if he was spending a lot more Aura than necessary.

Soon, he unleashed a burst of invisible blades, each one striking against Vale's defenses. For a moment, the hall was still with a sharp Aura clashing against Vale's impenetrable aura.

Then Vale shifted his stance. With a single sweep of his arm, a wave of Dark Energy spread outward, forcing Darius back several steps. His boots scraped against the floor as he dug in, his Aura had also shited to resist the crushing force.

"Impressive," Vale said calmly. "But you're burning yourself out too quickly."

"I'm just doing it because my opponent is you, Lord Vale."

Darius panted as this wasn't his normal combat style if he was fighting against someone with similar strength.

"It's better to burn out than to look weak." He added.

Vale nodded as that certainly made sense.

Darius then continued as he still had something else he wanted to show…

He roared while channeling his Aura into a final strike.

"Alright… Show me."

Vale watched as he allowed the man to display his best move. Of course, Vale still released his Spiritual Pressure to try and weaken the man's resolve.

But as Darius reached the peak of his strength, he released his attack.

Both sabers crossed in a scissor-like slash, cutting through the pressure Vale had set before him.

Bam!

The cross slash struck and hit Vale's palm!

It stayed there for a few seconds before its strength dissipated.

"Hmmm…"

Vale lowered his hand, also signally the end of his test. "That's good enough…"

Vale then turned to the next.

"Aileen Cross. It's your turn. You mentioned you're called the Silver Tempest because of your fluid style or speed… I want to experience it."

Aileen bowed lightly, and soon, her Aura started flowing like wind around her.

"Ho~" Vale was a bit impressed since it seemed as if Aileen was using Wind Element. However, Vale could clearly tell that it wasn't the case.

'I guess this is a decent Aura Application… It will benefit the students if they learn to use Aura fluidly like this and not just for offense or defense…' He thought.

It really was just her Aura and it was a fascinating sight…

Soon, Aileen darted forward, slipping past the currents of Vale's pressure.

Her blade struck from unexpected angles, grazing the edge of his Dark Energy Barrier before she retreated. Vale blocked each strike effortlessly, yet her movements could force anyone to adjust their defense.

After a few more exchanges, Aileen paused, but her Aura was still swirling around her.

Vale raised his hand once more, pressing harder.

Aileen's eyes lit up before she vanished instantly. Then, she reappeared behind him, but her blade stopped short as Vale's barrier was triggered…

"Nice… That's enough. Your speed is elegant... Though it consumes much energy, it's understandable."

Aileen was happy with this assessment and nodded.

Finally, Vale's gaze fell on the last. "Yoru. Step forward. You called yourself the Lion of Ashbourne, right? I want to see what it's all about."

The chieftain of his land strode forward with his greatsword resting easily on one shoulder.

"I will not hold back." Yoru said as he released his Primal Aura. It was very different from the other Aura Masters just now.

It was not steady or solid like Roland and Darius. It was also not fluid and in a free form of shape like Aileen.

Instead, it felt more wild and oppressive.

Vale was already liking it since he was also unaware of the branches of Combat Arts. He only knew a single method of using Aura, but today, he has already discovered several methods.

Vale watched as Yoru charged forward and reached him almost a second after he charged… He then met the attack head-on using his Arcane energy to clash against Yoru's Aura… and his fingers against the greatsword!

Thud!

The Shadow Immortal caught the blade, but a shockwave followed. The impact echoed through the hall, showing how powerful the attack was…

Vale pressed harder, but Yoru held his ground…

Finally, Vale withdrew as he realized that the greatsword might get damaged if they continued.

"Enough…" Vale said. "Your power is overwhelming, but it lacks refinement… Still, you can surely teach a lot of practical combat skills."

Then, Vale continued his tests and felt satisfied with the result. He also confirmed their educational background, and as expected, they all studied in Langhorne, the Combat Arts Academy.

But as Vale was planning to get to his next appointment, he received a telepathic message from Constance that a few people from the Order of the Oracle Hivement from the Psychic Arts Faction were outside his Immortal Tower!

"Hmm? What are they doing here?" Vale was confused as he had no dealings with the Psychic Arts Faction.
