Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy

Chapter 1182: Observer

The classroom was soon filled with anticipation. Since they had no seniors in this Holy Arts Curriculum, they did not have anyone to ask about these spells.

They were the first batch of Holy Arts students, and whatever spells they were about to learn, they couldn't help but feel that they were just being experimented on by the Immortals of this territory.

After hearing about the foundational spells of the Sentinels, the Church, the Paladins, and the Sanctum, the students were eager to know what the Academy itself had chosen.

Professor Yena's smile lingered as she asked, "Well then… what do you think the Academy's three foundational Holy Arts spells are?"

Hands shot up immediately.

"Holy Sun Ray, surely! It's a complicated Holy Spell, despite being a low-tier."

"Radiant Shield, Professor. It has to be a shield spell."

"No, it must be Solemn Hymn. The Academy would want us to learn something inspiring first."

The guesses poured in, one after another. Some students even tried to combine spells from different organizations, hoping the Academy had created a hybrid model. But Yena shook her head each time…

"Professor, it must be Blessing Dew! My mentor said it's a beginner's healing spell that summons droplets of holy water to mend wounds."

"No, no… I've read about Halo Ward. It creates a faint ring of light around the caster. Surely the Academy would want us to learn something defensive like that."

Another student raised his hand as he wanted to be the one to guess it right…

"What about Chant of Serenity? It calms the mind and strengthens focus. Isn't that perfect for beginners?"

A boy at the back scoffed. "Too weak. I bet it's Smite Spark… a tiny bolt of holy energy. It's simple, but at least it can attack."

"Or maybe Sacred Ember," a girl suggested after some consideration. "A flicker of flame said to burn away corruption. That would make sense for the Academy."

The guesses kept coming, each more imaginative than the last.

"Prayer of Dawn! It's symbolic, right? The first light of morning, guiding us forward."

"Virtue Seal… I heard it can lock away minor curses. That would be useful for us."

"Grace Hands. It's a soft glow that protects the caster from evil spirits and could also be used to attack. Many don't know about this, but this Holy Spell is useful."

Some students even tried to outdo one another with elaborate theories.

Seeing that Professor Yena was still not giving it away, they continued to discuss.

"What if the Academy created a hybrid spell? Like Healing Flame, combining the Church's Healing Prayer with the Paladins' Flame of Benediction? I heard that the Academy is famous for its Fusion Spells. It's not surprising if our first spells would be that hard to learn."

"Or Star Hymn… If I'm not mistaken, it's the fusion spell of the Echo of Grace and the Sacred Chant, right?"

Professor Yena listened patiently, her smile never fading, but she shook her head each time.

Galatea and Irene exchanged a glance. They understood the eagerness of their peers to prove themselves clever. But deep down, they suspected the Academy's choices would be far simpler, and far more profound, than any of these flashy guesses.

The classroom finally quieted as Yena raised her hand.

"All wrong," she said softly. "The Academy's introductory Holy Arts are not what you expect. They are not chosen for spectacle, but to ensure your solid foundation... Listen carefully…"

"The first spell is Holy Hands." She said…

This shocked everyone as they knew about this spell. It was actually quite cheap, and they could purchase the Spell Model from many stores!

However, Yena showed the Spell Model to everyone by controlling her Arcane Energy and forming it on her palm…

As soon as the model appeared, they knew that it wouldn't be so easy to record. However, they probably only needed a week or two to record such a Spell.

Yena nodded after seeing their expression, before she continued.

"This spell creates an invisible hand of holy energy. It is not meant for combat, but for support… lifting, steadying, or assisting. It teaches you precision and control, and more importantly, it trains your Spirit Strands to extend beyond your body. Do not underestimate it. A healer who cannot control their reach is no healer at all."

The students exchanged glances. Some looked disappointed while the others nodded as if they understood her.

"The second spell is Faith Pulse."

The spherical Spell Model shifted into a more complicated one.

"This is a detection spell, but unlike common detection arts that sense flesh or body, Faith Pulse detects spirit and soul. It allows you to perceive corruption, hidden intent, or even the signature of another's energy. It is subtle, but it is one of the most important tools of a Holy Arts practitioner. Without it, you are blind to the true nature of those around you."

Gasps echoed through the hall. Several students scribbled furiously in their notes. The idea of detecting souls instead of bodies was new to many of them.

They didn't expect that after a disappointing Holy Hands, they would give them something so amazing…

"And lastly… Holy Light."

The model on her palm changed once again.

Hearing that it was Holy Light, many students gently nodded. It seemed to be their only offensive spell.

Of course, it could also be considered a support spell depending on how the caster uses it.

"At first glance, it seems harmless or simple light. But this Holy Light does not target the flesh. It targets the soul. It can soothe, strengthen, or, when necessary, strike at the soul directly. This is the spell that teaches you the true weight of Holy Arts. Light is not always gentle. Sometimes, it can burn…"

The students sat in stunned silence.

One boy whispered… "Holy Hands… Faith Pulse… Holy Light… They sound so simple, but I like them!"

Galatea and Irene also agreed. Both of them understood immediately. These spells weren't chosen to impress. They were chosen to build foundations that would last a lifetime…

Still, they couldn't help but feel curious about the gaze they were getting from someone hidden within the room…

'Who is this observer?'
