Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy

Chapter 1208: The Mystic Arts Tower

Lisa had tried really hard this time, and she could no longer contain it.

Tears welled in her eyes as she clung to him.

"I did it, Vale! I'm not just a Vampire Descendant anymore. I'm now the owner of the Dark Arts Tower!"

Odessa stood nearby, stunned. She had expected Lisa to emerge changed, perhaps stronger, but not like this, not with such raw emotion.

She couldn't help but smile after seeing her like this. She was indeed still young, and she hoped that Vale would accept her feelings…

Well, Lisa didn't even acknowledge her presence, but Odessa didn't care. All that mattered was Vale's response to this.

Then, Odessa watched as the avatar remained still with his expression almost unreadable, but his aura pulsed faintly in response to her embrace.

It was not warmth, nor rejection, but simply acknowledgment.

Lisa noticed this as well and smiled through her tears…

"Ahem… I guess you're not going to ask me for payment, right? You can still use the Tower even if I own it now. I'll never waste it."

"I'm not concerned about that… I'm sure you wouldn't be so cruel to the students who needed this tower. I'm just curious what you found inside." Vale said.

"It's a long story…" Lisa said as she planned to have Vale visit the tower later. For now, she didn't want to return.

She had been stuck there for a while and wanted to get some fresh air.

"Well, Tower Master Lisa, what do you plan to do now? Can you open it for the students?" Odessa asked from behind.

Lisa stepped back and smiled at her. "Haha… Of course! You can have all the students return here. I will give them more opportunity to get stronger inside!

Odessa couldn't help but envy Lisa a little.

'So she truly succeeded and became the master of the Tower. I wonder what more she can do with it.'

Lisa seemed to have read her mind as she quickly spoke.

"Right… You must send more people to other Arcane Arts Towers. Challenge them to reach the highest floor they could, and they might get accepted by the Tower Guardian and receive the Tower itself." Lisa reminded.

Vale and Odessa nodded as they already guessed this much.

Since Lisa could obtain this Tower with her talent and skills, the others might also have their chance to do so.

Just like that, Vale used his telepathy to inform a few Immortals in his command to visit the Arcane Towers. He also informed them what happened to Lisa and as expected, they were all looking forward to that…

Even if they fail to conquer it, perhaps this would also motivate the students to work harder and obtain one of the 16 Arcane Arts Towers!

"Wait… Vale. What's going on? Why are there so many Chaos Immortals and even Void Immortals lurking around Clovis City? Is there a truce happening?" Lisa asked after noticing several hidden immortals.

Vale was impressed that Lisa noticed that, but he shook his head.

"There's no official truce, but I already attacked their base and caused huge damage to their side. As for the Void Immortal. I'm just letting him be, as we might get a clue. I'm still searching for Lust, one of the Seven Sins, rescued by one of their kind."

"Ahhh? That Lust isn't dead yet? I think you're looking your edge, Vale." Lisa was shocked.

"Hey… It's not like I'm focusing on that thing. That Evil Entity is in Palham Empire too… That's too far even for me." Vale said as he waved his hand.

Also, the fact that Lust was protected by a Void Immortal made it even more complicated.

In the meantime, far to the west, beyond the fertile plains and the bustling cities, the desert stretched endlessly.

It was a land of silence, broken only by the howl of the wind and storms that sometimes appeared without warning.

At the center of this desolation was Zarall, one of the Celestials Vale had awakened from slumber in the mausoleum.

He was not a man easily forgotten. His tall frame was draped in robes of mystic silk that could not be easily destroyed by his special ability.

At this time, his hair was already long and white, flowing like lightning itself.

Among all the Celestials that Vale awakened, he was the one with the highest mastery over Elemental and Mystical Arts.

When Zarall raised his hand, clouds gathered, thunder roared, and bolts of lightning arced from his fingertips, striking the sands and turning them to glass.

He was basically the true Thunder Emperor, though few knew it.

The one who currently bore that title in the mortal world was merely his disciple, and was even known as the Bandit King as well.

Zarall had trained him long ago, shaping his path, but never revealing his own existence to the wider world.

Most of the time, Zarall remained in the western deserts, communing with the storms and tempering his Celestial essence.

He was a being of tempest, and he was content to watch the world from afar. Yet when Vale had awakened him, Zarall had bowed his head, acknowledging the Immortal's strength and vision. Since then, he had become one of Vale's most loyal subordinates.

On this day, as lightning danced lazily across his palm, Zarall felt a ripple of telepathic energy. Vale's command reached him clearly…

"My subordinates, practice within the Towers. Conquer them if you can. Each Tower may choose a master, and those who succeed will gain dominion over its secrets. If you are near one, do not hesitate."

Zarall squinted as he heard this. Then, a faint smile tugged at his lips.

'So… Vale wishes us to test ourselves against the Towers. Interesting.'

Then, Vale continued to inform them about Lisa's success with the Dark Arts Tower.

"She is a Tower Master now?" Zarall gently nodded after realizing this.

If she, once the weakest among them, could rise to become its master, then perhaps he too could claim one. The thought intrigued him.

Without hesitation, Zarall turned from the desert.

His body blurred into lightning, streaking across the horizon faster than the eye could follow.

Whoosh!

The sands trembled as he departed, leaving behind only the echo of thunder.

His destination was obvious. It was the Mystic Arts Tower, the nearest Arcane Tower…

The Mystic Arts Tower was a colossal structure with crystals and dark stone on its walls.

There should be a few higher-year students of the Academy practicing there right now, but it didn't matter.

It was said that the Tower tested not only strength, but wisdom, perception, and the ability to discover the unknown.

When Zarall arrived, the guards at the base immediately recognized him.

His aura was unmistakable… As a matter of fact, even the storm itself seemed to follow him. They bowed deeply, opening the gates without question.

"Lord Zarall," one of them greeted nervously. "Are you here to enter the tower?"

Zarall nodded…

He stepped inside, and the Tower responded instantly.

As soon as he did so, he immediately felt that the first floor up to the fourth floor was already open for him…

Well, it was one of the perks of being an Immortal.

Soon, the staircase rose before him, glowing faintly with mystical formation arrays...

Then, he ascended without pause, reaching the fourth floor.

The chamber was vast, filled with mist and shifting lights.

At first glance, it seemed empty. But as Zarall walked forward, the mist coalesced into forms and dozens of figures, each resembling him, each wielding lightning.

'The first test in the fourth floor...'

They attacked without warning, bolts of thunder crashing toward him.

Zarall raised his hand, and the storm answered.

His lightning clashed with theirs, and just like that, energy exploded across the chamber. Yet he quickly realized the trial was not about brute force. Each illusion mirrored his own techniques, his own tempest.

To defeat them, he would need more than power, he would need to surpass himself.

'What a cliche...' Zarall mused, since most illusion tests had this concept. There must be something different.

He closed his eyes, focusing.

The storm within him shifted, becoming sharper, purer. When he opened them again, his lightning no longer arced wildly. It condensed into spears of precision, piercing the illusions one by one.

Well, he didn't improve himself. He simply controlled his ability with more precision. It was something he didn't need before due to the difference of strength against most of his opponents.

Soon, the next path opened...

Zarall smirked.

'Good. I would expect nothing less.'

He ascended to the fifth floor, where the trial changed.

This time, the chamber was filled with riddles carved into the walls, glowing faintly. Each riddle was a paradox, a mystery of the Mystic Arts.

To proceed, he had to solve them, channeling his Celestial essence into the answers.

Hours passed as he studied them, lightning flickering around him as his mind worked. Slowly, one by one, the riddles were being solved...

However, as he was about to complete the last task, something unexpected happened...

He opened his eyes and found himself outside the Mystic Arts Tower! He was actually thrown out!

"What the heck?!"
