"Simplify!"
Lin Chang'sheng instantly reached out and tapped the 'Yes' button.
[Great Dao is Simple: Simplifying Tiger Roar Fist... Simplify successful... Tiger Roar Fist == Beat Up Tigers!]
Lin Chang'sheng waited for just a moment before the panel notification chimed.
"Simplified into beating up tigers?"
Seeing the prompt, Lin Chang'sheng was a little stunned.
There's no shortage of tigers in this world, but Mu Nan City is a big city—any tigers here are already dead and shipped in for sale. Getting a live one would be tough.
Unless he went up into the mountains to find one, but who has that kind of time?
"Hmm?"
"It just says 'beat up tigers,' not alive or dead. If I grab some tiger meat or a tiger pelt and smack it around a bit, maybe I can rack up experience points?"
A thought sparked in Lin Chang'sheng's mind.
Whatever, I'll just buy one along the way. As long as it gives me experience points, I'm good.
Martial arts, the more the merrier. Whenever the time comes, I'll just fuse them all and they'll help me forge an even stronger technique!
Right now, Lin Chang'sheng had lost all interest in sticking around at the Tiger Roar Martial Arts Hall.
Tiger Roar Martial Arts Hall only had the Minor Circulation Breathing Method and Tiger Roar Fist. Those were what Li Tianhu put on the table, and even if there were other techniques, they probably wouldn't teach him. For now, Lin Chang'sheng needed to find ways to collect more cultivation techniques to fuse, so he could gain even stronger ones.
Lin Chang'sheng told Instructor Zhang a few words, then strode out the main doors of Tiger Roar Martial Arts Hall.
"Huh? Those two guys have tailed me for two whole streets—what's their game?"
Lin Chang'sheng arrived at a market in South City, where animal pelts were sold—stalls all over, shops too—and he noticed two men around thirty years old had followed him the whole way.
Those two trailing him were both third-class experts.
Lin Chang'sheng stopped in front of a shop selling furs. Inside, tiger skins, deer hides, cow hides, sable pelts, and even feathers hung from the walls, the air thick with a funky musky odor.
"Hey there, what are you looking for?"
The chubby shopkeeper waddled up to greet him.
"I'm looking to buy some tiger skin. Just browsing first."
Lin Chang'sheng headed inside, found a tiger pelt, and rubbed it, but nothing happened on his panel. After a flick of the wrist, a red notification popped up.
[Tiger Roar Fist (Entry Level 1/500)]
"Oh? It does give experience!"
Lin Chang'sheng perked up, immediately pointed to the tiger skin before him, and asked the shopkeeper, "How much for this one?"
"That's an adult tiger pelt, perfectly intact. You know how tough tigers are to hunt, so a complete pelt like this goes for 50 taels!"
The chubby shopkeeper held up one hand.
"Too expensive."
Lin Chang'sheng shook his head, glanced off to the side, and saw a basin with some dried, wrinkly, palm-sized claws—looked to be tiger claws, with tufts of fur still stuck on.
He grabbed one right away, flicked it twice, and found his experience points jumped by 2. His eyes lit up and he asked, "How much for this one, shopkeeper?"
"For the tiger pelt, how much are you offering? If you buy the pelt, I'll throw in a couple claws for free."
The shopkeeper hesitated, then said.
Those tiger claws were leftover after skinning—just a few claws without much meat on them, nobody wants them for soup.
"I'll just buy one claw."
Lin Chang'sheng picked up the claw, dead serious.
"Uh...."
The shopkeeper was dumbstruck. Thought he had a hundred tael payday, now he's looking at just a couple copper plates. The letdown was real. He sighed, "Give me 5 copper plates and take it."
"Deal."
Lin Chang'sheng cracked a smile, took out 5 copper plates, grabbed the claw, and walked out. The shopkeeper chased after him, sleazily said, "Hey buddy, we've got tiger penises and bull penises too, want one?"
"Yeah, I think I'll pass on that..."
Lin Chang'sheng waved him off and didn't look back.
"Since you guys insist on following me, might as well hand over your lives!"
Lin Chang'sheng stepped out of the fur shop and saw the two men still lurking at a distance. With the tiger claw in hand, he walked and flicked as he headed toward an alley deeper in the city.
The whole time, his experience points kept rising.
South City.
Lin Chang'sheng ducked through the alleys, stepped into a rundown courtyard, sat down on a stone, and before long, a fat and a skinny youth walked in, heading straight for him, icy sneers on their lips, eyes like vultures sizing up their next meal.
"Why are you tailing me?"
Lin Chang'sheng locked eyes with them, his look cool and unbothered.
"Heh, kid's got a good nose, but why bother asking when you're about to die?" The fat one's eyes flashed, slid his hand to his belt, whipped out a dagger, and lunged at Lin Chang'sheng!
The skinny one followed suit, flashing his blade, pressing in on Lin Chang'sheng.
Both trying to kill Lin Chang'sheng.
"Swish!"
"Ah! You... how—?"
Lin Chang'sheng snatched up some stones from beneath him, flung them out with qi force blasting, and shattered the two men's kneecaps in a blink. Both screamed and collapsed on their knees, staring up at Lin Chang'sheng, eyes filled with disbelief and terror.
They hadn't expected to hit a solid brick wall.
This supposedly weak Tiger Roar disciple actually had insane skills!
"Who sent you?"
Lin Chang'sheng stepped forward, fixing his gaze on the skinny one.
The skinny youth remembered what Senior Brother Zhuge had told him. He hesitated for a beat—too long, because Lin Chang'sheng promptly smacked him on the skull. Crack!
The skinny youth's eyes bulged, his skull smashed, with half of it rammed into his chest!
The burly youth watched Lin Chang'sheng, with not so much as a word, kill his partner dead. He instantly freaked, wet himself, and collapsed in a stinking heap.
"Talk. Patience isn't one of my virtues."
Lin Chang'sheng looked at the burly youth, speaking blandly.
"I... we're from Mad Blade Martial Arts Hall... S... Senior Brother Zhuge sent us..."
"Mercy, please!"
The burly youth shook like a leaf, hands scrambling behind him, teeth chattering, desperate to live as he pleaded with Lin Chang'sheng.
"Mad Blade Martial Arts Hall?"
Lin Chang'sheng's eyes narrowed. He remembered how eight regular disciples were killed at the martial arts hall last night. Now these two Mad Blade Hall disciples were here to take him out—guess he's their ninth target!
"Shouldn't have messed with me, not my problem! Nice timing though, my Thunder Shock Slash is ready to level up!"
Lin Chang'sheng's eyes gleamed, stepped forward, and smashed the burly youth's head like a watermelon with his Iron Sand Palm before turning and leaving.
He knew that Qian Wantong, the Mad Blade Hall master, was a first-class peak powerhouse, but he still planned to wait a bit and get stronger before making a visit over there.
Gotta play it safe.
Lin Chang'sheng knew.
The Mad Blade Hall was pulling these tricks to trash Tiger Roar Hall's name and snatch business.
But man, their methods were straight-up vicious.
Piss me off, and it's on you.
......
Yu City.
Princess Mansion.
Rear hall.
A woman in a white palace gown, breathtakingly beautiful, sat behind her desk piled with reports, a black parcel sitting beside her.
"Princess, news just arrived: suspected experts sent by King Qi went to Mu City, but they missed their target. Young Master Lin has already left Mu City for Min Nan City, and that assassin is now chasing him to Min Nan."
Just then, a black-clad figure slipped into the hall, bowed, and reported.
"Min Nan City..."
Yu Wenjing nodded, then said, "Black Eagle, go to Min Nan City and deliver this Cloud-Piercing Bow and package to Young Master Lin!"
When she finished, Yu Wenjing handed over a long, black parcel to the black-robed agent.
"Yes, Princess!"
Black Eagle nodded, respectfully backed away, and turned to leave.
"Chang'sheng... such a shame you can't stay by my side. For now, this is all I can do for you. Take care... I hope, someday, fate will bring us together again."
Yu Wenjing gazed at the night sky outside the hall, muttering softly.
