Chapter 66: A Stroke of Creation! The Deal for the Celestial Melody Star Ancestral Land

"You lot better stay put in the Southern Barbarians. If you even think about invading Great Yu again, next time, it'll be your annihilation!"

Lin Chang'sheng swept his gaze over the many high-ranking figures in the Great Hall, speaking indifferently.

He noticed that the two with the highest cultivation here were Martial Arts Grandmasters: the Barbarian King seated at the head, and the white-haired Elder Barbarian Master.

At once, he paid them no mind. His divine sense spread out, enveloping the Holy Bone Chain.

"Hm?"

"This trip wasn't in vain after all! There's also a giant image within the Holy Bone Chain!"

The moment Lin Chang'sheng's divine sense shrouded the Holy Bone Chain, he found himself as if transported to a desolate wild land. A colossal giant, identical to the one within the bone club, gripped a long blood-red warblade and brought it down with a thunderous slash!

A blood-red blade aura, a hundred feet long, tore heaven and earth apart!

With a single strike, a hundred-foot peak was obliterated in an instant!

A hundred-foot-tall bloodthirsty great ape lunged forward, only to be cleaved in two with a single blow!

But—

There was no starlight flickering on this giant's shadow!

"I'll keep this and study it slowly!"

Seeing that the panel showed no activity, Lin Chang'sheng immediately withdrew his divine sense, swept his hand, and tucked the Holy Bone Chain into his storage bag. He glanced over the Southern Barbarians' many high-ranking members in the Great Hall, then strode dozens of feet in a single step, preparing to leave.

"Immortal Master, please wait. Might we make a trade?!"

Just then, an aged voice rang out.

"A trade?"

Lin Chang'sheng paused his steps and turned around, looking toward the respectful yet helpless-eyed white-haired Elder Barbarian Master.

"Indeed. The Holy Bone Chain and Holy Bone are relics of my Barbarian clan's ancestor, handed down for generations. The old ancestor's cultivation land contains his legacy. Yet we, his descendants, are inept—unable to comprehend its mysteries!"

"I can allow you, Immortal Master, to enter the Barbarian Ancestor's cultivation ground for enlightenment. I only beg that you do not take away the Holy Bone Chain. I beseech you, Immortal Master!"

The Elder Barbarian Master's face was bitter as he slowly knelt before Lin Chang'sheng.

Man Tuo knew—

If the holy relic were lost, how could they ever face the ancestors again?

Behind the Elder Barbarian Master, the Barbarian King Wumu and many other high-ranking barbarians also looked to Lin Chang'sheng.

"Oh?"

Lin Chang'sheng's expression showed interest upon hearing this.

This Holy Bone Chain also held an image of a giant, but there was no response from the panel. If he could enter the Barbarian Ancestor's cultivation ground, perhaps he might gain something and find the remaining techniques of the Barbarian Blood Technique?

"First, I'll place restrictions on all of you. As long as you truly take me to the Barbarian Ancestor's cultivation ground, I'll remove them and return the Holy Bone Chain when I leave. You had best not try to deceive me, or else…"

Lin Chang'sheng spoke coldly, an aura of Qi Refining Fourth Layer erupting outward.

With a flick of his finger, dozens of streams of fiery red magical power landed on the bodies of the Barbarian high-ups, vanishing in a flash.

"Never! We wouldn't dare!"

The Elder Barbarian Master was full of respect, bowing repeatedly. "Immortal Master, please, follow me!"

"Immortal Master's methods are truly godlike…."

Barbarian King Wumu was shaken to his core. Just then, that red energy entered his dantian, and his Martial Arts Grandmaster-level cultivation was utterly suppressed—he couldn't muster even a sliver of True Qi!

The group proceeded toward the place where the Barbarian Ancestor had passed.

...

Celestial Dragon City.

Fifty li outside the city.

"Finally got my hands on a suitable loose cultivator!"

"Better grab some barbarians for soul refining and strengthen my soul seed first!"

A young man in a black robe, a bizarre mark on his brow, glanced at the puppet-like middle-aged man at his side, seized him in one motion, and dashed southwest, toward the Southern Barbarians.

...

The place of the Barbarian Ancestor's passing lay in Barbarian King City, beneath Sword Barbarian Mountain.

Lin Chang'sheng followed Man Tuo along a stone path, traveling for half an hour or so.

What greeted his eyes was a thousand-foot cliff like a sharpened sword, its surface adorned with ancient green pines.

Beneath the cliff—

Stood a stone cave, three yards tall and two wide. Within it stood a massive stone door, thick with moss and tightly shut.

"Immortal Master, this is where the ancestor once cultivated."

The Elder Barbarian Master, Man Tuo, stepped forward and respectfully spoke to Lin Chang'sheng. "It will require two Martial Arts Grandmasters exerting strength together to open the stone door."

Lin Chang'sheng's gaze flickered as he followed Man Tuo's instructions, channeling magical power with both hands.

Bang!

Grind, grind, grind!

The stone door opened. Inside lay a deep passageway, dimly revealing a vast chamber. Man Tuo called for torches and led Lin Chang'sheng within.

Within the mountain, the chamber was over fifty yards wide. Nine massive stone columns stood inside, each carved with depictions of unknown barbarian beasts.

In the center of the stone wall was a carved portrait—a tall, muscular, imposing man. Below the portrait stood a stone platform, clearly meant for seated cultivation.

"Descendant Man Tuo pays respects to the ancestor! I beg the ancestor for judgment!"

"Paying respects to the ancestor!"

"Paying respects to the ancestor!"

"......"

The many high-ranking barbarians knelt before the portrait inside the cave, bowing deeply.

"Man Tuo, aside from the Holy Bone and Holy Bone Chain, does your Barbarian Ancestor have any other relics?"

Lin Chang'sheng frowned, looking at Man Tuo as he spoke.

This stone cave, aside from the portrait and the meditation platform, was void of all else.

"Reporting to Immortal Master, there are none."

"I received a message from a previous generation's Barbarian Master: the old ancestor was supremely powerful in his time, with methods spanning the heavens—he could not have left behind no legacy. Yet we are dull-witted and unable to comprehend…"

Man Tuo replied respectfully.

"Oh?"

Lin Chang'sheng glanced over the space, stepped up to the stone platform, and extended his divine sense over it—nothing happened. Somewhat disappointed, he moved to the portrait, reaching out to touch it, his divine sense enveloping the image.

"Eh!"

Suddenly, Lin Chang'sheng's eyes lit up. He found himself in another space, where the shadow of a tall, burly middle-aged man, a faint starlight between his brows, floated before him.

"So many years... You are the third cultivator to find this place. Unfortunately, your talent is mediocre, and your cultivation far too low!"

The shadow gazed at Lin Chang'sheng, speaking with a hint of disappointment in his eyes.

"You're the ancestor of the Barbarian clan? You aren't dead!"

Lin Chang'sheng looked at the middle-aged man, a wary look emerging.

The Barbarian Ancestor wasn't dead?

"There's no need to panic; only a trace of my soul remains."

The middle-aged man spoke calmly, as if it had been ages since anyone had talked with him. He continued, "The Barbarians are the children I raised in the Immortal Relic Land. Their descendants call me Ancestor."

"Immortal Relic Land? What do you mean?"

Lin Chang'sheng frowned upon hearing this.

Hearing him, the middle-aged man looked at Lin Chang'sheng deeply, fell silent for a while, and then smiled self-mockingly. "The Immortal Relic Land is the very place where you and I now reside. Back then, I was wrongfully accused in the Ancestral Land, my bloodline sealed, and I was exiled here."

"If your talent were high, you might have been able to take my remains back to the Ancestral Land and fulfill my final wish. But, alas…"

"Senior, are you saying that beyond our Great Yu, there exists an even vaster world?!"

Lin Chang'sheng was shocked at these words.

Great Yu was already massive enough—

And yet it was merely one of three kingdoms beneath the Liuyun Immortal Sect. Never had he imagined there was yet another Ancestral Land beyond this world!

"Great Yu? Heh… A frog at the bottom of a well—the sky is but a circle a few feet wide!"

The middle-aged man fixed Lin Chang'sheng with a deep stare. Suddenly, his eyes widened in disbelief. "Barbarian Blood Technique! You… how do you know the Barbarian Blood Technique from my Ancestral Land?"

"Barbarian Blood Technique?"

Lin Chang'sheng's mind stirred. "By chance, I acquired a massive rib bone. I glimpsed a giant's shadow within and gained a diagram of how to circulate Qi and blood—I just cultivated according to it."

"What?"

Hearing this, the middle-aged man was visibly shaken, muttering, "To comprehend the Barbarian Blood Technique from that rib—for your comprehension… perhaps, in time, you may well break out of the Immortal Relic Land!"

"My comprehension?"

Lin Chang'sheng laughed inwardly.

All he did was cover the bone club in divine sense and see the giant's shadow—a streak of starlight tracing the diagram, fleetingly caught by his panel's detection. Still, he supposed it counted as understanding it himself.

"Brother, would you make a trade with me?"

The Barbarian Ancestor gazed at Lin Chang'sheng with hope in his eyes.

"What kind of trade?"

Lin Chang'sheng asked.

"Being falsely accused and exiled from the Ancestral Land is the regret of my life. My wish is to have my grievance cleared and my soul return home. If you can take my remains back to Celestial Melody Star's Ancestral Land, and hand them to the Gusha Fairy, I will grant you a great fortune!"

The Barbarian Ancestor said gravely.

"Ah? Take you to Celestial Melody Star? The Ancestral Land?"

"With my current cultivation, that place is far beyond my reach. I may not be able to do it. Besides, in your state, that Gusha Fairy is probably already…."

Lin Chang'sheng shook his head at these words.

"No, her talent is extraordinary. With her lifespan, she would not have passed away yet!"

"With such comprehension as yours, though your talent is ordinary, your future is not yet decided. Besides, my divine thought cannot last many more years!"

The Barbarian Ancestor shook his head, his eyes distant with remembrance.

That misunderstanding all those years ago—he'd never had a chance to explain to her fully. The Grand Elder sealed him and cast him into the Immortal Relic Land. Barbarian War's final wish was simply to see that one person again!
