The most memorable time was a few months before my daughter was born in 2021.

During those seven or eight months of pregnancy, my wife still rode an electric bike to work daily because my savings had been exhausted, and we couldn't afford the mortgage anymore.

I said to her, maybe I should give up. I'm probably not cut out for this, maybe I should just find a regular job.

She said: "You've persisted for more than a year now, giving up now would mean all previous efforts and accumulation go to waste."

"Hang in there a little longer, the baby's about to be born, believe that she will bring you good luck."

Listening to her, I gritted my teeth and persevered.

In September, our daughter was born, her jaundice was too high and she had to be hospitalized, requiring a deposit of four thousand.

Yet at that moment, I didn't even have five hundred dollars to give.

That moment, the joy of being a new father was slapped hard by reality, when asking my sister for money, feelings of helplessness, shame, and frustration surged up.

Later, I met some like-minded friends who said my personality was suited for writing historical stories.

Luckily, I'm someone who listens to advice. I spent a long time intensely studying Spring and Autumn and Warring States history, the Qin Empire Trilogy, and finally when my daughter was born, I earned some money through a story about Qin.

In early 2022, I wrote another Qin history book on Feilu and made it to the so-called top list, earning an unimaginable manuscript fee.

At that moment, I truly felt my daughter was my lucky star.

But good times didn't last, Feilu gradually declined, and my friends all moved to Starting Point.

I didn't dare try it easily because, in my heart, Starting Point was a hall of online literature—a place where experts gathered and where you prove yourself to become a god.

So I dawdled on Feilu for another year until early 2023, and finally, unable to stand it, I mustered the courage to move to Starting Point.

At Starting Point, I wrote about six or seven books, but none achieved ideal results.

It wasn't until that day in March, after being ruthlessly rejected by the editor for two openings, that I stumbled upon a family cultivation immortality story.

That very day, I started writing, penning the opening of this story.
