Guarding the River of Time

Chapter 35: The Four Emperors: Behaving Honestly Pleading for Mercy

Upon seeing this figure, the Bone Emperor's mind suddenly flashed back to that familiar silhouette from the past, and his heart skipped a beat.

Behind him, the Three Emperors were also on high alert, staring fearfully at the approaching figure.

Weren't they saying that in this Time Mist, one must not move carelessly, with no superfluous movements allowed? So what was the deal with this figure? How could they freely traverse the Time Mist unaffected?

The most crucial part wasn't even that. How could this figure walk on the waters of the River of Time?!

As the figure drew closer, they could feel the waters around them suddenly becoming static; they were frozen in place, unable to advance or retreat, completely at the mercy of the approaching figure.

The river's surface was so quiet that the only sound was their own rising and falling breaths.

Finally, when the figure was about ten meters away, they could clearly see the figure's features.

It was a young man of the Human Race, with striking features, a tall and sturdy build, and wearing a simple blue-white long robe exuding endless Immortal Charm. The most terrifying part was... the surrounding Time Mist seemed to silently embrace him!

With mist gathered around, walking on the river's surface, traversing through time itself, what kind of existence was this man!

The Bone Emperor's pupils contracted sharply as the silhouette he once deduced gradually overlapped with the figure before him, giving rise to a deep-seated fear he couldn't control.

It had been a long time since he felt this soul-deep fear.

Because... he had never seen any creature walk freely upon the River of Time, never!

Even when he saw an existence above an Immortal Emperor, that supreme being didn't dare, and couldn't, tread upon the Water of Time.

He didn't even dare to probe this man's cultivation because, based on the aura, the pressure coming from this man wasn't strong; it was actually quite weak.

But the weaker it seemed, the more uneasy he felt. A true powerhouse's cultivation is something you cannot discern; what you see is only what they want you to see.

To stand upon the River of Time, what realm could this man have reached?!

At the very least, he must be above an Immortal Emperor, but as for what realm beyond that, they didn't know and didn't dare to overly inquire.

Not to mention, even an Immortal King could crush them like ants.

...

Su Mu sized up these four seemingly unintelligent fools.

When he saw the black coffin beneath their feet, Su Mu's face darkened instantly.

Good heavens!

He suddenly recalled that someone had been tossing coffins into his river upstream, along with corpses, which had made him quite angry.

This coffin was identical to the one he had sent back a while ago.

So it was these four fools who did it.

Did you really have to throw corpses into the river??

A stomach full of anger had no target, and now it had just conveniently shown up; if he didn't teach them a harsh lesson, he wouldn't be able to calm his mind.

.....

"You four, did you really have to throw corpses into my river?"

Su Mu crossed his arms over his chest and questioned the four standing on the coffin.

His words made the Four Emperors' hearts skip a beat, and they swallowed hard involuntarily.

There was a lot of information in that one sentence!

His river?

Also... it turns out that the terrifying existence who returned their black coffin upstream was indeed this man before them!

The Bone Emperor lost his temper at once; before coming, he said if he encountered the one who sabotaged his plans twice, he'd teach them a lesson.

Now that he saw the man, his temper vanished completely; he didn't dare have any, and now he sought mercy.

.....

"Senior, we didn't mean any offense...." the Bone Emperor said weakly after calming down.

"Didn't mean to offend?"

"What's inside this coffin of yours?"

Su Mu stared at the black coffin beneath them and asked.

"Well..."

The Four Emperors looked at each other, not knowing how to answer.

"What? Is it a hard question to answer?" Su Mu frowned, his tone somewhat displeased.

"No, no, it's not hard to answer."

"Actually, we don't know what's inside. We're just following orders and have no idea what's inside."

The Bone Emperor wasn't lying.

Because he really didn't know what was in the black coffin, only the Venerable Lord knew.

"Don't joke with me; it's not funny,"

Su Mu didn't believe their nonsense.

Upon hearing this, the Dark Emperor quickly thought on his feet, took a deep breath, and said, "Senior, actually, inside is my father's corpse."

Hearing this, the other three emperors cast shocked and grateful glances at the Dark Emperor.

Dark Emperor, the organization will appreciate your efforts, even bringing your father who died thousands of years ago to cover up the truth.

Upon this, Su Mu nodded slightly; he didn't really care what was inside the coffin; he just wanted to know why they kept throwing coffins into his river.

"Since it's your father's corpse, why not lay him to rest in the ground?"

"Why throw the body into my river?"

Su Mu asked once more.

Upon hearing this, the Dark Emperor was at a loss for words. Indeed, who would bring a corpse to the River of Time?

One lie leads to countless others to cover it up.

While the Dark Emperor stammered, unable to give a reason, Su Mu waved his hand and said, "Enough, there's no need to explain."

"If you must do a water burial, do it downstream, bury it further away, and definitely not here, where it obstructs my view."

These words brightened the Four Emperors' spirits immensely.

They had originally planned to go downstream in the River of Time, seven thousand years ago, just as they had wished.

Although they didn't understand why this man was here and why he claimed ownership of the River of Time, they weren't going to ponder it for now; they were focused on getting through, as they had already spent too much time on the River of Time.

The time on the River of Time is disordered, and who knows how much time has passed since their Venerable Lord's battlefield; missing the best time could be disastrous.

So, they could not waste any more time on the River of Time.

"Thank you, Senior, thank you, Senior."

The Four Emperors quickly expressed their gratitude.

But they noticed as long as this man stood in front of them, the water in this area would stop flowing!

Such power was beyond their imagination, to make the water in the River of Time stop flowing... what realm must he be in to achieve this??

"Senior, could you please move aside?"

The Bone Emperor forced a smile and asked tentatively.

"I can, but there must be a fee."

Su Mu said slowly.
