Gourmet: Midnight Vending

Chapter 93: Screams Are Normal in the Inpatient Department

1:30 in the morning, a time for deep sleep.

But for LuLu, who just started live streaming, it was just the beginning, especially since her stream's theme was to find Boss Xiao Chen.

She couldn't find Chen Mo at either the bridgehead or the sports academy, so LuLu wandered around dejectedly, chatting idly with her live audience.

A buzz from her phone.

"Huh?" Upon seeing the message, LuLu perked up, "Why the heck is Boss Xiao Chen setting up a stall at Huimin Hospital?"

The fans in the streaming room, many of whom were also in the second intelligence group, exploded with activity upon getting the info.

"Streamer, shouldn't we go intercept Boss Chen?"

"Du Gong must be kidding; he was just cursing Boss Xiao Chen in the stream, and now he's found him? Is he trying to trick the streamer?"

"I think Du Gong is tricking the streamer too. How could the hospital allow vending? And even if they did, would there be any business?"

"Streamer, don't go. Du Gong is up to no good!"

LuLu pondered for a moment and forwarded the message to the first intelligence group.

There were only a little over thirty people in this group, all old acquaintances from the bridgehead.

Unexpectedly, some people were still awake when the message was sent out!

Fang Zhizhong paved the way with a 100-yuan red envelope before speaking.

"How did Boss Xiao Chen end up at a hospital stall? Is this information reliable?"

The power of the red envelope was immense, as a dozen people grabbed it immediately, and then everyone felt obliged to join the chat.

Dunzi: Really? I spent an hour squatting at the sports academy today; I'm starving. If he's really at the hospital, let's go right away.

Fang Zhizhong: If it's true, I want to go too. Just came back from drinking; it would be nice to have some noodles to chill out.

Zhang Feng: Envious. I'm sealed in my quilt already. Remember to take pictures when you eat!

He Chunming: Huimin Hospital? Do you think the patients there will want foot massages?

At present, group members were eager to eat but fearful of misinformation, not wanting to make a pointless trip in the middle of the night and be left wide awake.

LuLu considered it and decided to DM Dunzi.

"Brother Dun, shall we go check it out together?"

Dunzi replied swiftly, "Absolutely! Where are you? I'll pick you up."

Dunzi was purely idle, with some family money he couldn't possibly spend. His parents advised him to do whatever he wanted, just not start a business.

So after buying a Kai CT6, Dunzi gradually lost his goal in life, indulging daily in foot massage parlors.

But now, Dunzi was a changed man!

"I'm still on Xuefu Street. Shall I wait for you?"

"Sure, I'll be there in five minutes!"

Dunzi's driving skills were masterful. In the downtown area of Jingzhou City, where there were few cars at night, he sped when necessary, slowed down when needed, and arrived at Huimin Hospital in just twenty minutes.

"Where's the inpatient department?"

"Go straight; I have the navigation on."

LuLu guided Dunzi with her phone's navigation, weaving through the hospital until they reached the inpatient department. They got out of the car and walked, eventually rounding a corner.

"Wow, he's really here!"

In the narrow corridor, the large yellow food truck was huge under the dim light, and Dunzi squinted in confusion, "Boss Xiao Chen got a new truck!"

"Oh my, is vending really this profitable? It's only been a few days, and he already upgraded. That's impressive!"

LuLu rushed over, peering through the glass window but seeing no one inside.

Dunzi, being sharp, figured it out, "Here he is."

Dunzi knocked on the glass, "Boss Xiao Chen, Boss Xiao Chen~"

Chen Mo, half-asleep, heard some creepy voice cursing him, and even felt it coming down from the upper floor, "What the... who!"

Opening his eyes, he saw a chubby face pressed against the window, "Dunzi, you jerk!"

Chen Mo, annoyed, put on his shoes and jumped out of the truck, stunned to see LuLu holding a phone, "Wait, how did you... how did you know I was here!"

LuLu giggled foolishly, unwilling to expose her intel sources, and spoke before Dunzi, "Oh, I wasn't feeling well, so I came to the hospital. Didn't expect to bump into you here. Hey, Boss Xiao Chen, got any food?"

Chen Mo glanced at his phone, thinking he'd slept for ages, but it was only 2 AM.

An hour to go until 3 AM, and since the food was already half-prepped, it would be wasteful to let it go.

"Alright, what do you want to eat?"

Dunzi immediately pointed to the steamer, "Start with two buns, gotta fill up the stomach, I'm starving."

LuLu noticed something different about the menu, "Braised Chicken? Let's have a serving of that."

It was only then that Dunzi saw, "I want Braised Chicken, Ma Po Tofu, noodles... Oh, just get on with it!" Dunzi was annoying himself. "Okay, two bowls of noodles, two buns, one Ma Po Tofu, one Braised Chicken, two servings of rice."

He glanced at LuLu, "Shall we share?"

"Sure," LuLu agreed readily.

The live stream viewers were shocked; they didn't expect Boss Xiao Chen to actually vend inside a hospital, shattering their previous perceptions!

In the intel group, several people started moving, not fearing the 2 AM timing at all, except for He Chunming, who was hesitant.

Would patients really feel like getting a foot massage?

Chen Mo started bustling in the food truck; Ma Po Tofu was his specialty, with hot, spicy tofu ready in no time, as Dunzi and LuLu began eating eagerly.

Fortunately, the food truck always carried small tables and stools, allowing them to enjoy a hearty meal in the corridor.

When the Braised Chicken was served, LuLu was a bit taken aback, raising the same concern as previous customers, "Boss Xiao Chen, how come the Braised Chicken has no veggies?"

Chen Mo didn't know how to explain.

In theory, if there were vegetables, it would involve a "simmering" step, but this version of Braised Chicken lacked any "simmering," resulting in thickened sauce poured over the meat.

Ultimately, Chen Mo made something up, "You're talking about Braised Chicken Rice, this is authentic Braised Chicken, just enjoy it."

"Oh!"

LuLu and Dunzi each took a piece of meat, popping it into their mouths.

The tender chicken completely redefined Dunzi's understanding of "chicken" as an ingredient!

There were no chicken fibers, as if the piece was a cohesive unit, each bite tender and refreshing, while highlighting the savory flavors characteristic of Lu Cuisine.

LuLu dipped her chicken piece into the rice before eating the chicken first, and then a spoonful of rice.

Wow, delightful!

They were thoroughly enjoying their meal when suddenly a scream came from upstairs!

It sounded terrifying, a heart-wrenching scream of agony!

Dunzi, looking knowingly, remarked, "Some inpatients feel miserable at night; screaming gives them some comfort."

LuLu thought Dunzi's explanation made sense, relaxing her previously tense heart a little.

She took another bite of chicken just as the eerie wailing intensified.

The screaming was accompanied by curses.

"Chen Mo, damn you! I hate you so much!"

LuLu was dumbfounded, looking at Brother Dunzi as if asking.

Is this still normal?
