Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree

Chapter 109: Earth Breathing Technique

Reela had previously advised Duke not to mention this matter.

Hela's spiritual power was inherently unstable and quite susceptible to emotional influence.

Duke didn't expect the Magic Potion Notebook to be tied to this matter and dared not bring it up again.

Fortunately, Hela didn't seem too affected, and after a moment of silence, she continued with her potion refining experiments in the lab.

Duke glanced at the Skill Tree, which now included four skills related to magic potions.

[Basic Magic Recovery Potion: Level 2 (9/40)]

[Starlight Meditation Potion: Level 2 (12/40)]

[White Orchid Antidote Potion: Level 2 (23/40)]

[Mud Corrosion Potion: Level 2 (15/40)]

Lately, most of his time was spent hurriedly refining the White Orchid Antidote Potion and Mud Corrosion Potion.

With the levels of these four potions increased, Duke experienced slight improvement in spiritual power, albeit only 0.1.

His current spiritual power was at 22.5, and further increase had become increasingly challenging.

If Duke relied solely on Meditation Techniques to gradually enhance his spiritual power, it seemed unlikely he'd ever reach the status of an Official Wizard in this lifetime.

This indicated that his wizard aptitude was subpar; if his aptitude were better, spiritual power would grow swiftly with meditation practice.

This aptitude isn't reflected by spiritual power and can't be tested. Only through practical meditation can its effects be observed.

There's generally a pattern; those from Wizard Clans progress quickly with meditation practice.

Duke also learned from Vivian that she was considered to have good aptitude, showing decent spiritual power growth during meditation.

Despite her innate spiritual power not being high, this merely represents a starting point and doesn't tell the whole story.

For most Official Wizards, inherent spiritual power isn't critically important.

No Official Wizard discusses their initial spiritual power, much like how people stop discussing college entrance scores after ten years post-graduation.

Duke had nearly completed all his orders, but proficiency in those two potions wasn't yet enough to level up. He would need to buy materials later to increase proficiency.

A dilemma here was that the Mud Corrosion Potion was hard to market.

Even selling it to the Giant Rock Magic Potion Shop wasn't feasible as they wouldn't buy much due to lack of market demand.

For potion shops, stocking such potions ends up being idle inventory, leading to loss over time due to storage costs.

With so much inventory, they prefer storing more valuable items.

Duke realized that potion selection must consider sales potential in the future.

He planned to increase proficiency by refining potions in bulk, far beyond personal use, hence needing to sell them.

Without sales, he couldn't afford refining potions; the cycle of creating and selling them enabled proficiency increase.

...

After completing Hela's order tasks, Duke went to Academy Island to sell magic potions refined recently from his Space Ring at the Giant Rock Magic Potion Shop.

He was familiar with a few shop hands, facilitating swift transactions.

A glance at his Space Ring revealed he now had fifteen hundred Level 1 Magic Stones.

Post potion sale, Duke went to the town square to browse stall areas.

Occasionally, he visited to check for valuable second-hand items.

Just as Duke was about to leave, something caught his attention at a stall.

It was a book.

"Earth Breathing Technique..." Duke murmured, stopping to ask, "May I look at this?"

"Feel free," the stall owner replied indifferently.

A Knight's Breathing Technique didn't have much value here, and the owner didn't expect it to sell.

Duke skimmed it and confirmed that it was indeed a genuine Knight's Breathing Technique.

Being a Great Knight, he possessed sufficient discernment skills.

"Interesting piece. How much?" Duke casually inquired.

"Two minor Magic Stones, take it if you like," said the stall owner.

Duke pondered briefly, then procured two minor Magic Stones to purchase the Breathing Technique.

Back at his dormitory, Duke delved into the Breathing Technique book, aiming to master its content.

For other Wizard Apprentices, the Breathing Technique held little practical use, serving mostly as a hobby or exercise to stay physically active.

Many Female Wizards practiced Breathing Techniques, primarily for maintaining a perfect physique.

The Breathing Technique's diverse movements effectively exercised most muscle groups, being excellent for physique maintenance.

Vivian exemplified this, boasting an almost perfect figure, something Duke had witnessed firsthand.

Duke quickly finished reading the Earth Breathing Technique, noting its nine levels comprising seventeen movement sets.

He commenced practicing its content, executing various high-difficulty movements synchronized with specific breathing methods and rhythms.

Recalling his initial Breathing Technique learning, Duke struggled greatly with the first movement, managing only a minute at best.

Currently, performing these actions seemed effortless, smoothly completing all seventeen movements.

[Earth Breathing Technique: Level 1 (1/1000)]

Seeing the Earth Breathing Technique branch on the Skill Tree reassured Duke.

He had long considered gathering various Breathing Techniques, maxing their proficiency to possibly gain aptitudes.

However, every since joining Black Sail, he had been busy learning and enhancing various skill proficiencies, leaving no time for Breathing Techniques.

Encountering the Earth Breathing Technique by chance, Duke decided to occasionally substitute normal physical activities with it.

The proficiency requirement for Earth Breathing Technique was hefty; Duke had previously spent over half a year maxing Giant Whale Breathing Technique.

Allocating such time now was impossible, nor could he afford to focus so extensively on Breathing Techniques.

Amidst the busyness, even meals required carving out time amidst meditation sessions and training.

Duke contemplated accelerating his Breathing Technique progress via alternative means.

Previously, the use of Magical Beast Meat and the Giant Whale Secret Potion had boosted his Breathing Technique progression.
