Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree

Chapter 116: Gravity Slowdown

Duke, relying on his high Earth Element Affinity, successfully mastered three Earth Magic spells.

The last one was Gravity Slowdown. This spell's effect is that it can influence the gravity within a certain range around the body, increasing the gravity felt by the target several times.

The specific increase in intensity depends on the caster's own Magic Power amount and Spiritual Power strength. Theoretically, it can be increased to hundreds or even thousands of times.

If one could increase the gravity affecting a person by a hundred times, that person would basically suffer instantaneous death, as the internal organs, flesh, and blood can't withstand such strong gravity unless they have a very strong physique.

Duke checked and found that even with his mastery, he could at most increase gravity by three times.

It doesn't seem like much, but in practical application, it should have a decent effect.

Even for someone with a physique as strong as Duke's, suddenly increasing his body's burden by three times would significantly affect his mobility.

The Gravity Slowdown spell, apart from having a somewhat complex Magic Model, also requires the caster to have excellent control over the Earth Element.

Duke needs to sense the Earth Elements distributed underground around him and then communicate with them, letting his own Magic Power resonate with these Earth Elements.

Only by infusing his Magic Power into the ground can he achieve the effect of Gravity Slowdown.

Duke studied and researched this spell for a while and discovered that essentially it only uses his own Magic Power as a medium and then harnesses the surrounding Earth Elements to achieve its purpose.

Solely relying on a Wizard Apprentice's own Magic Power, it's very difficult to achieve such a range of influence.

Using oneself as a fulcrum to leverage the surrounding Earth Elements.

Duke had heard before that among the Official Wizards, those who specialize in Elemental Magic can deploy a large number of elements distributed in the world to cast various powerful Elemental Magic spells.

The stronger the power, the more Elemental Energy Particles they can mobilize and influence.

A Wizard Apprentice's strength is too weak, and the elemental energy they can mobilize is extremely limited, placing even more emphasis on the Wizard Apprentice's Elemental Affinity.

The higher the Elemental Affinity, the less Magic Power is spent mobilizing the free Energy Particles, making it easier.

After mastering the Magic Model of Gravity Slowdown, Duke returned to that small forest area.

He began communicating with the surrounding Earth Elements after infusing Magic Power into the Magic Model.

The Earth Elements quickly sensed his communication and started becoming active.

Duke then infused his Magic Power into the ground below, with the continuous infusion of Magic Power, gradually forming a Gravity Slowdown zone around him.

A big tree began swaying and trembling, and the leaves on it rustled down continuously.

Duke observed the effect of this spell for a while and then ceased the casting of Gravity Slowdown.

[Gravity Slowdown: Level 1 (1/100)]

Although a branch of Gravity Slowdown appeared on the Skill Tree, Duke still felt somewhat pressured.

This spell consumes even more Magic Power than he expected, with his internal Magic Power pouring into the ground like water shortly after he begins casting.

If this continues, his internal Magic Power would be completely exhausted in less than three minutes.

This is even considering his high Earth Element Affinity; for an ordinary Wizard Apprentice, casting this spell might completely deplete their internal Magic Power.

"Within a fifteen-meter radius centered on myself, the gravity multiplier is two times..."

Duke silently recorded the data obtained from the tests in detail.

The maximum range he can currently control is fifteen meters; any further is beyond his limit.

The gravity multiplier is only twice; if it were to be three times, the Magic Power consumption would double, and he wouldn't be able to maintain it for even thirty seconds before exhausting his internal Magic Power.

Duke realized that although this spell is a lower-tier spell, it's clearly not suitable for a typical Wizard Apprentice to master.

This kind of spell with a wide-scale influence is still somewhat strenuous for a Wizard Apprentice.

However, looking at it in the long term, once he grows stronger, this spell will definitely be a formidable tool.

Duke plans to only use it momentarily during combat to interfere with the enemy for a few seconds at most.

If used for a prolonged period, his Magic Power would be exhausted before the battle even begins.

After recording the data related to Gravity Slowdown, Duke also began considering his subsequent plans.

As it stands, his internal Magic Power is certainly insufficient.

In the future, to improve the proficiency of these skills, he'll definitely need to consume Basic Magic Recovery Potions.

Otherwise, his internal Magic Power would deplete quickly every day, and the proficiency growth of these spells would be very slow.

Duke calculated and found that this unknowingly added a significant expense.

Even Wizard Apprentices from Wizard Clans do not drink Basic Magic Recovery Potions every day to practice spells.

One vial a day isn't enough, and at least several vials are needed just to get started.

Duke exhaled a breath, realizing he would have to work overtime refining potions, or else his earnings wouldn't cover the expenses.

He then practiced various spells in this forest area to increase skill proficiency.

He returned to the dormitory at dusk, by which time his internal Magic Power was already depleted, and that's even after drinking six Basic Magic Recovery Potions.

After returning to the dormitory, Duke felt somewhat mentally fatigued.

Although he cast spells using Magic Power, repeatedly casting spells at high frequency still caused some burden on his Spiritual Power.

Spiritual Power cannot be restored by drinking Basic Magic Recovery Potions; it can only be slowly recovered through Meditation and sleeping.

Duke nibbled on some white bread, stuffed a few strips of smoked meat and a few pieces of pickled cucumber into his mouth, washed it all down with a large gulp of water, and considered that a dinner.

He immediately entered a Meditation state, beginning to focus on improving his proficiency in the Deep Blue Tide Meditation Technique.

Upon entering the Meditation state, his breathing gradually became calm, his heartbeat slowed down, and his body entered a state of slow self-repair.

It was very quiet around, with no sounds to be heard.

Duke felt some warmth in his palm, and when he opened his eyes and raised his hand, he found a Heart-shaped Earrings pattern in his palm.

"Dimensional Coordinate?" Duke immediately recognized it, realizing that this pattern was identical to the earring he had put into his Space Ring.

Duke suddenly sensed that something was off around him.

He looked around and found that the bed he was sitting on was covered with a thick layer of dust, and the entire room was like this.

"Nightmare Plane, why have I come here again?" Duke was alert, yet puzzled.

He hadn't activated that Heart-shaped Earring; how did he suddenly appear here?

Previously, it was due to Hanna's malevolent spirit influence, but now the malevolent spirit had disappeared, yet he was still here.

Duke frowned and glanced at the Space Ring, discovering that the Heart-shaped Earrings inside were gone.

This Space Ring was the one Hela had given him; it was already his.

The space is large enough, but not so much that it is impossible to find. Duke only needs to sweep with his Spiritual Power to know the whereabouts of everything inside the Space Ring.
