Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree

Chapter 118: Raven Butterfly and the Three-Headed Dog

"Young fellow still has energy, a little harder, darling~" A woman's figure appeared on the stone slab at his feet, with a somewhat alluring expression.

Duke quickly withdrew his foot and stepped aside. Looking ahead, he saw that all the stone slabs were like this.

"Could all these stone slabs be like this..." he couldn't help but think.

At that moment, as if responding to his thoughts, the stone slabs in front gradually awakened and began to chat incessantly, some even broke into song.

The once-quiet forest instantaneously became noisy, giving Duke a headache.

Fortunately, aside from being peculiar, these stone slabs seemed to pose no threat.

"Silence! The Raven Butterfly is coming!"

"What! Quick, hide!"

...

The stone slabs seemed to detect something, and began to relocate, all rushing deeper into the forest.

Duke couldn't understand their language, but the words of the stone slabs contained spiritual power information, which allowed him to directly comprehend their intended meaning through spiritual power.

Though he didn't know what the Raven Butterfly was, he didn't hesitate and followed the stone slabs into the forest.

If it's something that these stone slabs are afraid of, it probably isn't good for him either, so he needed to hide.

Duke followed these stone slabs into the forest, hiding behind bizarrely shaped trees.

Several stone slabs huddled together near him, shivering, their faces disappearing as if they had hidden.

A moment later, the sounds of crows calling were heard.

Duke looked up and saw a giant black butterfly appear in the sky above the spot where he had just stood.

The Raven Butterfly's wings were beautiful, adorned with extremely mysterious runes. Just a glimpse made Duke feel dizzy.

He realized this creature required significant spiritual power, and even a few more glances could prove overwhelming at his current strength.

The Raven Butterfly had a crow's head while the rest of its body retained the form of a regular butterfly. It seemed to be scanning the surroundings searching for something.

After looking for a while, its gaze turned toward the forest.

In that instant, the stone slabs around Duke trembled more violently.

Duke didn't dare to make a sound or rashly move.

He had an intuition that if he tried to flee now, he would certainly meet a swift death.

No matter how many life-preservation methods he had, they weren't enough to ensure his survival.

This was an intense warning from the depths of his instincts, the instinct of a living being.

The Raven Butterfly flapped its wings slowly, drifting over, about to enter the forest.

Just then, there were sudden dog barks and the sound of heavy footsteps pounding the ground from the left side of the forest.

Immediately, Duke felt the ground around him vibrate, and the trees in the entire forest swayed.

Duke saw a giant Three-headed Dog burst forth at an incredible speed, his eyesight unable to keep track of its trail.

It was only when the Three-headed Dog stopped that he could see clearly what it was.

The Three-headed Dog stood about thirty meters tall, monstrously large, with magma-like stuff covering its body.

Its three large heads drooled constantly, some drool emitting a white smoke upon contact with its body, and others forming small puddles when hitting the ground.

The places where the Three-headed Dog walked left black burn marks representing its extremely high body temperature.

Duke kept a distance of about three hundred meters from the Three-headed Dog, yet even so, he was barely holding up.

The natural aura and energy waves emitted from the Three-headed Dog were enormously powerful, causing Duke to immediately cough up blood.

Duke promptly clad himself in Petrification Skin and Rock Armor, even summoning the Round Table Knight's protection.

With all these layers of defense, Duke could barely breathe for a moment.

He couldn't imagine what level of life this Three-headed Dog belonged to, just its naturally emitted energy waves were enough to kill him, even from a considerable distance.

Duke wiped away the blood from the corner of his mouth, contemplating that he would have been dead from the energy waves naturally emitted by the Three-headed Dog had he not quickly deployed these defensive measures.

The Three-headed Dog didn't glance once in his direction, focusing entirely on the Raven Butterfly.

The Raven Butterfly appeared apprehensive of the Three-headed Dog, promptly ascending to the skies, its eyes coldly staring at the Three-headed Dog.

All three of the Three-headed Dog's heads raised to bark threateningly at the Raven Butterfly, drool continuously dripping.

The Raven Butterfly seemed unwilling to engage, turning and flying away immediately.

But the Three-headed Dog wasn't ready to give up, stomping heavily, its enormous body soaring through the air.

To be precise, it jumped, but since the jump was so high, it looked almost like flying.

As it leaped, a strong wind was stirred up, causing the surrounding trees to sway so violently they nearly toppled.

The Raven Butterfly, seeing this scene, was so startled that its body instantly fragmented into millions of tiny Raven Butterflies, swarming like dark clouds to escape ahead.

The Three-headed Dog chased relentlessly, running through the air while barking.

Duke continued watching these fearsome demons until they faded away and the pressure on him gradually disappeared.

By then, the protection from the Round Table Knight had expired, which should have lasted longer.

But resisting the energy waves naturally emitted by the Three-headed Dog consumed too much of the protective energy from the Round Table Knight.

If the Three-headed Dog had stayed a bit longer, its mere presence would have been enough to kill Duke.

Being in this world for so long, this was the first time Duke had encountered such terrifying demons.

It was the first time he had so tangibly felt the disparity in life's hierarchy.

Duke understood that the Three-headed Dog must have sensed his presence, only instinctively ignoring him.

Just like when he walked down the road, he didn't pay attention to ants in the grass, much less take the trouble to step on one on purpose.

Duke remained calm, not terrified out of his wits, he glanced at the distant ground and suddenly realized something.

Nearby, the stone slabs were still trembling, seemingly unaware that the two demons had left.

Duke surveyed his surroundings, cautiously navigating toward the Three-headed Dog's previous position.

The journey went smoothly without encountering any strange demons.

Duke conjectured that the Three-headed Dog was a formidable demon even in this place, its appearance naturally scaring away other demons.

The ruckus created by the Three-headed Dog would have caused other demons to sense and retreat far away.

Theoretically, this area could be considered a temporarily safe vacuum zone.
