Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree

Chapter 162: The Fall of the City

After Ackman killed the Batman, he felt no relief in his heart.

Just taking down this Batman didn't help the situation at all.

Explosions kept echoing from below the city walls, and slave creatures repeatedly bombarded the city gate with bombs.

The entire city wall was constantly shaking, as if it was about to collapse.

Ackman didn't have any good ideas either; the enemies didn't care for their lives and were numerous, making them difficult to fend off.

The entire Moon Shadow City was embroiled in a fierce battle, the city filled with various clamors and shouts of killing, like boiling water.

Amid the thunderous sounds of the magic-guided cannon and high explosive energy bombs, slave creatures and beastmen continued to perish.

Blood of various colors splattered across the battlefield, the pungent smell of blood stimulating everyone's nerves.

On the battlefield, many slave creatures could no longer feel pain or exhaustion, the Blood of War they drank was unleashing their inner power.

As long as the last drop of blood in their bodies hadn't run dry, they wouldn't fall, nor would they stop fighting.

The battle began at noon and continued until nightfall.

The Slave Legion's assault didn't recede in the slightest due to nightfall, instead, it became even more fierce.

They had noticed the fatigue on the faces of the beastmen, naturally not giving the beastmen any chance to breathe.

The Slave Legion's strength and numbers far surpassed the beastmen, allowing them to continuously replenish forces in optimal condition.

Ackman wielded a long knife, his armor stained with various colors of blood.

Throughout the afternoon's battle, many slave creatures had already ascended the city walls.

These slave creatures came from multiple planes, possessing all sorts of bizarre abilities.

Two hours ago, Ackman even encountered a batch of invisible lizardmen, whose limbs could climb directly up the towering city walls.

Due to their invisibility, until they launched an attack on the beastmen on the walls, the beastmen didn't notice that enemies had reached them.

This ambush caused the beastmen tremendous losses; at that time, Ackman was commanding on another section of the wall and rushed over upon learning this.

Only with his involvement did they barely repel the attack of these invisible lizardmen.

Deep into the night, a muffled sound echoed from the city gate after a loud bang.

This muffled sound struck every green-skinned orc's heart like a heavy hammer.

The gate fell!

All the beastmen knew what this meant; Ackman had long foreseen this event and positioned a large force to defend behind the city gate.

When the Slave Creature Legion burst through the gate, the beastmen stationed there clashed directly with the slave creatures.

The Slave Creature Legion, with unstoppable momentum, charged directly into the beastmen's troops, marking the beginning of the cruelest and bloodiest battle.

Close combat, enemies in every direction, no one could guarantee survival on such a battlefield.

When you pierced the chest of the enemy in front of you, a long knife might already be skimming across your neck.

Inside the city, it had turned into a slaughterhouse, constantly reaping lives.

Slave creatures kept flooding in through the gate, like floodwaters surging in after a sluice was opened.

Moon Shadow City had completely fallen, not held for even a day before succumbing entirely.

As the Slave Creature Legion poured in, they slaughtered every beastman they saw, no distinction between beastman soldiers or civilians.

No constraints on this aspect were included in Black Sail's Wizard's strategic plan.

Due to the rapid breeding of green-skinned orcs, there were no worries that excessive killing would drastically reduce the population of this race.

Every beastman's corpse was a source for spreading beastman seeds; the wizards only needed a little cultivation later to produce a large batch of beastmen.

So, for the Slave Creature Legion, capturing the city was their most crucial task.

Ackman led the beastmen to continually shrink their defense perimeter, gradually reaching the vicinity of the City Lord's Mansion.

The City Lord's Mansion was a small fortress with some rudimentary defensive works, which were hastily reinforced in the afternoon.

Standing before Ackman was an elderly beastman, the City Lord Ross of Moon Shadow City.

Ross was a beastman priest, capable of casting various magic powers, he was the other primary life in Moon Shadow City.

During the afternoon defense battle, he and Ackman each managed half of the defense, but both failed; both gates were breached, forcing them to retreat to the City Lord's Mansion.

Beastman civilians in Moon Shadow City were killed, injured, or taken away as captives.

Ross stood on the fortress, observing everything in front of him with a face full of sorrow.

No one knew where these enemies came from or why they had come; the once peaceful Moon Shadow City turned into a wasteland within half a day.

Ross seemed to have resolved something; he looked at Ackman, the young beastman, and said, "Run, Ackman, go elsewhere, gather stronger forces to defeat these enemies."

He had always admired Ackman, promoting him to his current position; they were both mentor and friend.

Ross knew that failure was inevitable, he didn't want this promising beastman to perish here.

He remained convinced that the beastman race wouldn't lose, only the unexpected ambush and disparity in forces led Moon Shadow City to ruin.

In this world, countless beastmen remained, along with the undefeated Beastman King.

As long as Ackman could escape, when the beastman forces are assembled, they will surely cleanse the enemy.

"No, I won't run." Ackman shook his head; he wouldn't flee disgracefully.

Ross smiled knowingly, seemingly expecting Ackman's response, and said, "The beastmen aren't lacking in courage, but unnecessary sacrifice is pointless. Even if one must die, one should die with value."

With this, he stepped forward into the air.

Cracks appeared all over Ross, emitting a strange red glow.

"City Lord!" Ackman realized what was happening and tried to stop Ross, but it was too late.

As a beastman priest, Ross possessed immense internal energy.

Despite his advanced age, his energy remained abundant.

When the Slave Creature Legion appeared, Ross foresaw Moon Shadow City's inevitable defeat, and prepared a simple teleportation array in the City Lord's Mansion.

Time was too tight; normally, such a teleportation array couldn't transport over long distances.

But Ross, using himself as fuel, released turbulent energy within, infusing it all into the teleportation array.
