In the following month, the war reached a fever pitch.
Black Sail commanded an army of over a million slave creatures, launching a frenzied attack on the 300,000-strong Beastman Legion.
During this time, Black Sail also deployed the Floating Fortress, a type of battle fortress that could fly at low altitudes. Though not overly destructive, it was still a dimensional strike against these beastmen.
After a month, the original 1.5 million slave creatures were now reduced to just over a million, a loss of 500,000.
But things were not good for the beastmen either; the 300,000-strong Beastman Legion around Wilderness City had dwindled to less than 100,000.
The defensive line of Wilderness City had also contracted again, leaving nearly only a solitary Wilderness City.
Since green-skinned orcs are half plant and half animal, they can obtain energy through photosynthesis, maintaining the minimal life activities.
Some siege tactics commonly used by wizards were rendered meaningless against the green-skinned orcs.
As long as there was starlight shining upon them, they could live and not starve to death.
The fighting power of the Wilderness City beastmen was indeed strong, but they faced slave creatures attacking mindlessly at all costs.
Under the storm-like attacks of these slave creatures, the losses of the Beastman Legion were too severe.
...
Inside Wilderness City, Ackman looked at the tall and robust beastman before him, filled with respect yet endless sorrow.
Since the invasion of the Beastman Plane, two months had already passed.
In two months, the Wilderness Continent was reduced to just a solitary Wilderness City.
The rapid pace left no time for reinforcements from the other two continents.
Reynolds on the Greenfield Continent had long heard of the situation and was reinforcing defensive structures and consolidating military forces.
They did not anticipate the wizards' advance to be so swift that two months were not enough time to cross the sea from the Greenfield Continent to provide support.
Even if there was enough time, Reynolds would not choose to let the army cross the sea to support the Wilderness Continent.
He had seen the massive entity in the Beastman Plane and believed that since the Wizard Civilization possessed something like the Space Fortress, surely other large-scale strike methods would not be lacking.
If the army reached the sea, they would become targets for the wizards, very likely leading to complete destruction at sea.
Reynolds knew that only by quickly strengthening the defenses of the remaining two continents could they face the imminent crisis.
Since being teleported away, Ackman led over a thousand beastmen, fighting and retreating, joining up with other beastman units, finally arriving at Wilderness City.
Originally, with McKinney's presence, it was thought that cleaning out those invaders would be easy.
However, unexpectedly, among the invaders were several existences stronger than McKinney.
They were constantly watching McKinney, preventing him from entering the battlefield, otherwise, they too would join the fight.
With beings of this level, once a fight breaks out, it could easily lead to earth-shattering changes, even altering the world's environment with ease.
This is also why Black Sail's Swain and others haven't stepped in yet; they want to preserve this world's integrity as much as possible.
Once a fight with McKinney ensues, it could irreversibly impact this world, a situation neither side wishes to see.
McKinney stood atop Wilderness City's walls, looking at the enemy camps spread across the wilderness, his heart filled with endless sorrow.
He knew the outcome was already determined; regardless of what happens to the Beastman Plane in the future, it was already hard for the Wilderness Continent to hold out, and failure was just a matter of time.
McKinney planned to do something, at least for the 90,000-strong Beastman Legion behind him.
He moved with a thought, directly arriving at the front of the Wizard Camp, quickly drawing their attention.
The bald-headed Seventh Legion Commander Arnold appeared instantly, smiling, "What brings you out here for a stroll?"
"I want to talk with you," McKinney said steadily.
"Talk my ass, let's wipe you out first then talk." Arnold didn't care in the slightest. If Swain hadn't restrained him from taking action, he would have cleared this place long ago.
Arnold was itching to fight, even now having never made a move, which left him feeling bottled up.
The Third Corps Commander Swain also appeared at this time and asked, "What do you want to talk about?"
"I will fight you. If I win, you'll let them leave," McKinney proposed.
"Fine, agreed!" Arnold agreed without even asking what would happen if they lost, because he simply didn't believe he would lose.
He originally thought Swain would oppose, but to his surprise, Swain said, "Okay, but you better choose the ocean side as the battlefield."
"Just as I wanted, you cannot attack Wilderness City until the battle is decided," McKinney said.
Swain agreed to this condition and sent Arnold and McKinney to the distant center of the ocean to commence battle.
For beings of this level, such a distance was a mere thought away.
On the boundless seas of the Beastman Plane, Arnold and McKinney both levitated above the ocean.
Here, far from the three continents, the aftermath of their battle wouldn't affect the living beings on the continents.
Arnold let out a sinister smile, black flames emerging from his body, donned in a suit of black armor.
His eyes were as black as ink, akin to endless abysses, and those with low Spiritual Power, at a mere glance, would have their souls drawn in.
As the Legion Commander of the Seventh Legion, Arnold possessed unquestionable strength. As a demigod-level expert, he was also known as the Hell Lord.
His fighting style was unlike that of a wizard and more like a warrior, wielding a black giant hammer.
McKinney drew a longsword. From Arnold, he felt an immensely powerful aura, one he had only felt with Reynolds, this bald man was actually a powerhouse on Reynolds' level.
Realizing this, he felt no fear. When he took this step, he did not think he could return.
McKinney only hoped to secure a slim chance of survival for the remaining beastmen in Wilderness City, hoping the wizards would keep their promise.
It's just a pity that a single duel seemed possible initially; now, even that slim chance appeared more and more hopeless.
The battle commenced quickly, with no excess words exchanged. The ocean already surged with ten-thousand-meter high waves.
Black flames burned on the ocean, sometimes creating a transient vacuum zone where the sea floor was clearly visible, the vacuum zone quickly covered again by the surrounding sea water.
Managing to hold out for only half an hour, McKinney's left arm drooped, black flames still burning upon it.
