Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree

Chapter 182: After the Promotion

Wizards can perceive more abundant external information through Spiritual Power, which is a more efficient means of perception compared to sight or hearing.

When a regular person sees a fruit, their mind contains only superficial information like the fruit's color and shape.

However, by observing the fruit with Spiritual Power, one can see its hidden appearance and interior details; even worms can be seen at a glance.

This overwhelming information is fed back to the wizard through Spiritual Power, providing highly detailed external information.

If one's Spiritual Power is not strong enough, they cannot support this kind of perception method; otherwise, the influx of massive information into the mind would lead to headaches.

The defense and attack range of the Sand Guardian is the same as the range of Spiritual Power; wherever Spiritual Power can be extended, the Sand Guardian can automatically defend and counterattack within that range.

Duke can now manipulate this sand within a range of twenty meters, but to exceed this range requires expending Magic Power.

[Sand Guardian: Level 1 (12/100)]

During Duke's experimentation, the proficiency of the Sand Guardian continued to grow.

He found that brushing up this skill's proficiency is very simple since within the twenty-meter range, the Sand Guardian does not consume Magic Power.

As long as there's time, proficiency can be continually brushed up.

"Isn't this a bit of a glitch? If all spells could be cast without consumption, wouldn't I be invincible..." Duke suddenly thought.

He quickly ended his daydreaming and began testing the strength of other spells.

Due to the improvement in Spiritual Power, the sub-level spells he previously mastered have all been enhanced, with strength now reaching thirty and above.

The Shadow Water Duke carries is becoming less useful; even though it contains Three-headed Dog saliva, the overall defensive strength remains low, around ten degrees.

Back when he was a Wizard Apprentice, Shadow Water was a decent defensive method.

But for him now, with the Sand Guardian at his side, the Shadow Water is somewhat useless and doesn't serve much purpose.

If an attack couldn't be stopped by the Sand Guardian, Shadow Water wouldn't be much help either.

Nonetheless, Duke still keeps Shadow Water attached to him as an additional layer of defense.

While Duke tested and recorded data on various spells, he pondered his plans moving forward.

Firstly, he definitely needs to master some Level 1 Magic; and then, the Knight's Breathing Technique cannot be neglected—he needs to continue seeking breathing techniques of other attributes.

Duke plans to travel along the East Coast after the war in the Beastman Plane concludes.

For a wizard, it's important to bury oneself in study, but traveling to gain experience and knowledge is equally critical—many things can't be learned merely from books.

The Mechanical Wizard Civilization on the East Coast is highly developed, and it's also a developed area for Knight Civilization, holding the subsequent advancements and inheritances of knights.

Once Duke is promoted to Level 1 Mage, it truly marks his entry onto the wizard path, becoming a bona fide extraordinary being.

A Level 1 Mage possesses at least a five-hundred-year lifespan; from this moment, they are no longer ordinary life forms facing sudden death.

Even among many Planes, a Level 1 life form counts as a decent force.

It is said that upon reaching Level 2 Mage, the lifespan can potentially exceed a thousand years.

Duke is not thinking that far ahead yet; his eyes are only set on the Level 1 Liquidation Mage phase.

The Spiritual Power of a Level 1 Liquidation Mage is generally at one hundred points, but merely reaching one hundred points doesn't qualify one as a Liquidation Mage.

Transitioning from Gaseous Mage to Liquidation Mage requires no Magic Potion, and most subsequent promotions no longer need the assistance of Magic Potions.

However, Gaseous Mages must continuously compress their gaseous Spiritual Power within their mind into liquid Spiritual Power, and only when enough liquid Spiritual Power has accumulated, does one qualify as a Liquidation Mage.

This differs greatly from previous promotions, which were like climbing a ladder, each step clearly defined.

But transitioning from gaseous to liquid is a process, not something achieved overnight.

Duke hasn't reached the stage of compressing Spiritual Power yet; he still needs to continue enhancing his Spiritual Power, to increase the gaseous Spiritual Power in his mind.

After conducting a series of tests, Duke is pretty much clear about his current strength.

Duke then heads to the administrative hall on Academy Island to commence the procedures for promotion to Official Wizard.

While conversing with the wizard behind the counter, surrounding Wizard Apprentices, hearing about his successful promotion, look at him with envious eyes.

For all Wizard Apprentices, this is the day they have dreamed of; all their efforts and sweat have been geared toward achieving the status of Official Wizard.

Having been promoted to Official Wizard, Duke is now considered a force to be reckoned with for Black Sail.

He can now possess his own island, with everything on the island and its surrounding waters belonging to him.

While enjoying rights, he also must shoulder certain obligations. Typically, no mandatory missions are assigned to Official Wizards.

However, if Black Sail is in an emergency, all wizards need to fight for Black Sail—this is a requirement present in every Wizard Organization.

Essentially, this refers to wars between Black Sail and other Wizard Organizations; such wars were frequent in the past but have almost disappeared now.

Most Wizard Organizations have turned their attention to the Endless Plane, preferring to plunder other planes rather than fight to the death in the Wizard Plane.

Upon exiting the administrative hall, Duke intends to follow another wizard to inspect several favored islands but unexpectedly comes across Simon and his companions.

All three of Simon's party have become First-class Wizard Apprentices and have made significant progress over the past few months.

However, compared to Duke, Simon and his companions' progress is almost negligible; they have indeed worked hard and been fortunate to be promoted to First-class Wizard Apprentices.

Official Wizard status is still a distant dream for them, requiring astronomical resources—the path to promotion is long.

Duke once shared the trials of Third-class and Second-class Wizard Apprentice evaluations with them, but now he has left them far behind.

"Duke, have you really been promoted to Official Wizard?!" Simon, sensing Duke's aura, exclaimed in shock.

Duke smiled and nodded, "Just got promoted, haven't managed to tell you yet."

His attitude towards Simon and the others remains unchanged from before, and he doesn't alter his demeanor because of his strength enhancement.

Yet, Simon and his companions clearly exhibit a different attitude, unable to be as casual as before, now showing a bit of reverence towards Duke.

After chatting with them for a while, Duke departs, not wanting the other wizards to have to wait longer.
