Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree

Chapter 258: Shadow Breathing Technique

The only way Duke can currently acquire the Power of Faith is through the Divine Statue of Light.

There's no way he can just move such a large statue, otherwise, the people from the Light Sect would be desperate to stop him, even if he is the so-called Child of Light.

If he returns to the Wizard Plane and can't find any other method to acquire the Power of Faith, he'll have to wait another six months to return to the Oracle Plane, which is relatively restrictive.

Duke then prayed once more, and after establishing communication with the Divine Statue of Light, he received a sliver of the Power of Faith.

He calculated simply that at this rate, it would take about half a month to fully charge the energy of the Coordinates Earring again.

If he could stay here and pray continuously, the speed would be even faster, but that would seem too suspicious.

Duke discovered that it seemed only his prayers would grant him the Power of Faith, while followers like Dali provided the statue with Power of Faith, which was the opposite for him.

Regarding Duke being the Child of Light, only a few within the Light Sect, including the Holy Daughter Dali and a handful of bishops, are aware. These people would never betray the Light Sect.

They wouldn't let any information leak out, to prevent the Four Gods Sect from targeting Duke, as the Child of Light is the future of the Light Sect.

...

Three days later.

As Duke returned from the Light Sect, he saw Robert standing at the door of his shop, apparently waiting for some time.

"Lord Duke, I've collected all the items you wanted," Robert said, busy over the past few days.

"Let's talk inside," Duke nodded.

Back in the backyard, Robert took out twenty magic spells, all purchased through his connections over the past few days, covering almost every spell players could currently acquire.

Duke glanced at them and said, "Well done!"

These spells were mostly Elemental Magic spells, all secondary spells, many of which were convenient to cast without causing too much impact.

Besides the spells, there was also a Shadow Breathing Technique.

This was something that particularly surprised Duke; he didn't expect Robert to obtain this.

"Was this acquired from the Shadow Council?" Duke asked.

Robert nodded, "Yes, bought from someone divinely gifted in the Shadow Council."

Normally, whether the Shadow Council or the sects, their inner breathing techniques are crucial and strictly prohibited from being shared outside.

But for players, these rules are virtually nonexistent, as almost no player abides by the regulations of a game organization.

With this Shadow Breathing Technique, Duke could train it to the maximum level, thereby acquiring a new talent, though it's still uncertain which attribute it would be.

It could either be Shadow Attribute or Dark Attribute; either would be an exceptionally rare talent, as even in the Wizard Plane, few have this type of talent.

The West Coast has only the Crawford Clan with a Dark Attribute talent, and that single talent is enough to make them a major power on the coast, highlighting the potency of such talent.

Duke gathered up all the spell and breathing technique content noted on parchment and then said, "Robert, you've done brilliantly, and you deserve a fitting reward."

He then took out two rings, one being a Space Ring, and the other a ring with its own Small Fireball Technique, both being secondary demonized items.

This Space Ring was what Duke had obtained from that ship at sea; the space inside was small, just one cubic meter. It's of no significant use to him now.

It happens to be a suitable task reward for Robert; such items are rare in the Oracle Plane.

Magic Potion knowledge is very undeveloped in the Oracle Plane, and Alchemy even less so, making the technology to produce complex alchemical creations like Space Rings nonexistent.

Most mages don't carry space items, only higher-ups in sects like Holy Daughter Dali may have such alchemical creations, but in very limited quantities.

The ring with a Small Fireball Technique is rare too, as the Oracle Plane predominantly uses magic scrolls.

Magic scrolls are single-use consumables where spells are pre-stored by mages, activated with spiritual power or mana by the user.

The cost of a magic scroll isn't low, often surpassing even same-level demonized items, but they're single-use.

Moreover, magic scrolls require a certain amount of mana or spiritual power to activate truly, which raises the user threshold.

The demonized item handed over by Duke, after fully charged, can be used three times consecutively, needing a period for energy accumulation after that to use again.

In the Oracle Plane, such a ring is extremely rare.

Robert took these two rings, and corresponding information surfaced before him.

[Rare·Space Ring], [Rare·Small Fireball Technique Ring]

"Two blue items, and they're magic items! There's even a Space Ring!" Robert was very excited, having never seen similar items appear on player forums.

Robert promptly checked the Space Ring and, after exploring with spiritual power, saw an entire enclosed space, which was novel to him.

He attempted to place the other Small Fireball Technique ring inside, and it worked with a mere thought, making him quite excited.

Robert then also placed some Magic Crystal Stones and notebooks of recorded data inside and took them out again, enjoying himself immensely.

Backpacks were commonplace in previous games, but experiencing a Space Ring for the first time was very refreshing.

Duke glanced at Robert's actions and chuckled, saying, "The Space Ring can hold other magic items, but can't hold another Space Ring."

Robert nodded, committing that piece of information to memory, feeling he wouldn't get a second Space Ring anytime soon.

He then wore the Fireball Technique ring with a testing look, but after considering the small yard around him, he held back.

Robert certainly didn't want his enthusiasm to accidentally burn the yard down, resulting in his immediate downfall by Duke's hand, rendering his previous efforts wasted and causing favorability to drop directly to zero or even into the negatives.

Duke saw his intent and said quite casually, "No worries, feel free to try it; I'll stop the spell."

"Really, Lord Duke?" Robert couldn't resist trying to cast a spell.

Seeing Duke's consent, he activated the Fireball Technique ring with spiritual power, and a head-sized fireball soon appeared before him, hurtling towards the wall.

Before the fireball could hit the wall, a screen composed of yellow sand appeared, just in time to block the fireball.
