Duke conversed with Lucas for a long time before meeting Matthew from the Giant Rock Commerce Association, who was still stationed in the Wood Elf Plane.
"Mr. Duke, I'm glad you could return. I'm glad you're alright." Matthew looked thinner, suggesting he had been quite busy recently.
As Duke walked and chatted with Matthew, he learned of the difficulties the Giant Rock Commerce Association had been facing recently.
To be precise, most of the commerce associations in the Wood Elf Plane were having a tough time.
Black Sail had lost Firefly City, and with such a significant loss, they naturally needed compensation from elsewhere.
The Giant Rock Commerce Association became a target for Black Sail's actions, as they had been developing a lot of land outside contractual agreements.
Black Sail didn't demand the return of these lands, but required payment for land rental, which was no small sum.
The Giant Rock Commerce Association had been striving to gather this money, as Black Sail didn't target any particular association, so they only accepted their bad luck.
As one of the managers of the medicinal garden here, Matthew was under enormous pressure, needing to compile various data for the vast garden.
Nobody anticipated such events, and since they were already at fault, they could only obediently pay up.
After all, from a long-term perspective, it would only take a short time to recoup these payments, ending up profitable overall.
Duke did not linger in the Wood Elf Plane, returning to the Wizard Plane that same day.
His assignment in the Wood Elf Plane was set to finish in a few more months, but due to the Firefly City incident, it ended early.
The teleportation array flashed, and Duke returned to the Elizabeth, familiar sensations enveloping him, giving him an unprecedented sense of security from the home plane.
After spending time in another plane, returning to the Wizard Plane always brought this feeling, which those constantly in the Wizard Plane would find hard to experience.
After reaching the Elizabeth, Duke immediately followed a wizard named Sic to record some information.
The content was roughly similar to what Lucas had asked initially, but Sic was clearly dissatisfied with Duke's vague descriptions concerning the other plane.
"Duke, could you elaborate on the matters of the other plane?" Sic said impatiently, clearly interested in the other plane Duke visited.
"Sorry, I don't have the obligation to divulge that part," Duke replied calmly.
He hadn't broken any Black Sail rules, and was merely fulfilling his duty by recording. The other plane matters were outside this investigation, so Duke had the right to withhold information.
Sic was a level two wizard belonging to the Eighth Legion and felt offended by Duke's direct refusal.
"Duke, I'm asking you now; you answer, or who knows, you might end up in Black Sail's prison," Sic said sternly.
Duke smirked and stood up, saying, "Then you can send me to prison; I have things to do first."
After speaking, he turned and left, ignoring the furious Sic behind him.
Sic didn't expect Duke to be so reckless, disregarding his threats completely.
Magic power surged through Sic, intending to teach the arrogant young man a lesson, but he was interrupted by a figure at the doorway.
Lucas, expressionless, said, "I was just a bit late, and your Eighth Legion members have already intruded on our Third Legion?"
In fact, the task of recording information should have been handled by the Third Legion, but someone from the Eighth Legion was in the Wood Elf Plane, quickly learning of this information. They promptly placed Sic by the teleportation array, to extract information on the other plane from Duke.
Lucas was late in returning to the Wizard Plane due to other affairs, and did not expect the Eighth Legion to act so swiftly, receiving the information promptly.
Information on another plane is extremely valuable and profitable to any legion, so it was normal for the Eighth Legion to covet it.
However, their actions were overly invasive, even planning to handle Duke, showing complete disregard for the Third Legion's dignity.
Upon seeing Lucas, Sic squinted slightly, saying, "I'm just following protocol. This person's noncompliance warrants a lesson."
"The Third Legion isn't for you to discipline. Step aside and leave now. Also, inform Mr. Robbie that we in the Third Legion will remember this," Lucas said coldly.
Robbie was a level three mage from the Eighth Legion and Sic's direct superior, likely the mastermind behind this arrangement.
Lucas then led Duke away, leaving Sic with an uncertain expression behind them.
He knew he couldn't truly confront Lucas, lacking confidence in winning a fight against him.
On the way back, Lucas personally escorted Duke onto the ship, just like his earlier guidance into Black Sail.
Standing at the bow, he said, "From now on, be cautious of the Eighth Legion mages. We've always had strained relations. In fact, internal grudges exist among the ten legions within Black Sail; you'll gradually come to understand them."
"Even within the Third Legion, relation dynamics between battle groups aren't seamless. Only with Lord Swain's presence has real conflict been avoided."
"Garfield, the Eighth Legion commander, is notorious for ruthless pursuit of goals. Thousands of years ago, he was a renowned Black Wizard—one of our few mages of the Undead Element…"
Most Undead Element mages on the West Coast were in Doomsday Bell, and Garfield had actually been one of those mages.
It was only after irreconcilable conflicts with Doomsday Bell that he left, joining Black Sail and becoming a vital force for Black Hand Morgan.
Lucas shared much with Duke on the way back, mostly about internal factions within Black Sail.
Duke realized that Black Sail, as a massive wizard organization, contained intricate internal alignments requiring caution to avoid pitfalls.
He also learned that the Third Legion has good relations with the Tenth Legion.
Surprisingly, they also have amicable relations with the Seventh Legion, where Arnold is located.
