Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree

Chapter 295: The Entrance

Duke, in the absence of other slave creatures around, collected three slave creatures into the Light God Court.

He did not let anyone else see this scene, not even Yala and others knew about the existence of the Light God Court.

He naturally did not distrust others, as slave creatures would not betray their master due to the presence of the Slave Mark.

However, wizards have countless tricks, some of which can force slave creatures to reveal some information, such as directly reading memory fragments from their souls.

Soon it was time for the Void Corridor to open. Duke and Merrick arrived at Harbor City together.

The entrances to the Void Corridor are distributed in many places in the Wizard Plane and are generally controlled by powerful wizard factions like the Black Sail.

The Void Corridor itself is managed by the Wizard Council, and splitting entrance access with other Wizard Organizations is merely to accommodate some personnel entries; each Wizard Organization has a certain number of slots.

The two of them entered a heavily guarded building in Harbor City and reached the entrance of the Void Corridor through the teleportation array.

The teleportation array on the Black Sail's side doesn't transport people directly into the Void Corridor, only to its entrance.

Apparently, this place is no longer in Harbor City, and it might not even be on any continent of the main Material Plane.

Beneath their feet was a cold, black metallic platform engraved with giant ancient runes, stretching to the edge of sight, seemingly floating in the endless void.

Above, there was no sky, only a profound, twisted energy curtain flowing with hallucinatory colors, which served as the Void Corridor's entrance.

Silhouettes continuously appeared around; these were wizards from all over the Wizard Plane, all participants of this Void Corridor event.

At the forefront of the platform, near that twisted energy curtain, stood a high platform constructed of pure crystal.

Upon the high platform, several figures clad in robes embroidered with the unique emblem of the Wizard Council stood silently.

The emblem of the Wizard Council is an image comprised of complex geometric shapes, symbolizing balance and wisdom of the planes, seemingly containing an inexplicable power; those insufficient in Spiritual Power would feel a slight dizziness at the mere sight of this emblem.

The presence of the Wizard Council members on the platform exuded an unfathomable aura, like an abyss; merely glancing in their direction hushed the chaos on the platform considerably.

They were the powerful individuals dispatched by the Wizard Council to oversee the teleportation, maintaining order at the entrance.

"Silence!" An immense, authoritative voice, as though directly echoing in everyone's mind, spread across the entire platform.

The leading wizard on the high platform spoke, their voice devoid of any emotion yet containing an undeniable force.

"I am Alfred from the Central Islands, responsible for overseeing the opening of this Void Corridor. Next, some rules regarding the Void Corridor…" Alfred was an old man with white hair, a long white beard reaching his waist.

"It's actually Lord Alfred…" Merrick felt a bit surprised, a respectful look in his eyes.

Duke had not heard of this name; his knowledge of the Central Islands was limited.

This was quite normal, as he usually kept to himself and didn't even know much about the news from the West Coast, let alone the distant Central Islands Region.

Merrick evidently also knew this and explained, "Lord Alfred is a student of Lord Albert, a Level 5 Wizard and Level 6 Arcane Master of the Central Islands, highly experienced and renowned, reportedly having been Black Hand Morgan's teacher for a time…"

Duke didn't expect this white-haired elder before him to be a Level 5 Wizard and even once taught Black Hand Morgan.

He couldn't sense any energy fluctuations from Alfred, not even a hint of potential threat.

Generally, when facing beings of higher Life Level, one's body would instinctively feel some threat, a natural reaction even without the other party bearing any malice.

But in front of Alfred, there was no such feeling at all; upon careful sensing, Duke couldn't even keenly perceive Alfred's existence.

Alfred was the most powerful person Duke had ever seen; it was his first time seeing a Level 5 lifeform in person, not knowing what kind of strength it entailed.

In the past, the oversight of the Void Corridor's opening was usually handled by Level 4 Mages. Having Alfred overseeing this time was beyond many people's expectations, enough to deter those with ill intentions.

Duke could clearly feel that when Alfred appeared, the area instantly quieted down; many people even carefully retracted their energy fluctuations, fearing disrespect towards Alfred.

Everyone listened attentively to Alfred's explanation of the Void Corridor's rules, although most of them were already familiar with it.

This time, the Void Corridor would remain open for three months, during which anyone could exit early, but once out, they couldn't re-enter, having to decide their dwelling time within themselves.

Everyone was teleported inside randomly, except for those who registered as a team beforehand, who would be teleported to the same place.

The Void Corridor only had teleportation arrays set in fifteen shard regions for returns; those wishing to return must return from these areas.

If the three-month period ends without returning, they would have to stay inside until the next opening a hundred years later.

Unless encountering wizards from other factions during this time who are willing to bring them out, they must remain inside.

Though there are fifteen shard regions with return entries, the Void Corridor has countless shard regions mostly unexplored by wizards.

These fifteen regions with return entries are well-explored areas with few resources left.

Entering wizards must venture to other regions to acquire valuable resources and then return to one of these fifteen areas.

Duke heard there were many wizards waiting near the fifteen regions to ambush those returning from explorations in other regions, so they could directly obtain resources.

The Wizard Council doesn't prohibit such behavior; once inside, one's survival is solely one's responsibility.

While listening to Alfred's explanation of the rules, Duke felt a gaze and, upon turning, saw Bell staring at him.

Bell flashed a slight smile and made a throat-slitting gesture.

"As you wish." Duke couldn't help but chuckle.

Merrick also noticed and glanced at Bell, saying, "It's him, huh? Don't worry, I'll deal with him for you once inside."
