Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree

Chapter 384: Believers

The Holy Daughter Dali's feelings were the most distinct. She could sense the God of Light right beside her.

Duke frowned and said, "Will others be like you? If everyone can sense it this way..."

If all the followers of the Light Sect could sense their divine status within, wouldn't they be like a giant light bulb, visible to everyone wherever they went?

"This indeed is a problem." Dali understood what Duke meant and realized that it was too conspicuous.

Duke had only just received the inheritance of the God of Light, and his actual strength was far from reaching the level of the God of Light.

Though only followers of the Light Sect would distinctly sense it, it couldn't guarantee the eternal loyalty of every follower.

Moreover, even if one wasn't a follower, as long as they were sufficiently powerful, approaching Duke would let them sense something unusual.

While Duke was contemplating how to solve this problem, the divine status of the God of Light seemed to grasp his intention.

The white light sphere in Duke's mind suddenly moved, then gathered all its aura, no longer emitting any of that strong high-ranking aura.

Even in his mind, this light sphere seemed non-existent, and even Duke himself could not feel the presence of the divine status.

Beside him, although Dali didn't know what happened, she clearly sensed this change.

She noticed that the intense aura of the God of Light around Duke vanished instantly, leaving no trace behind, as if everything earlier had been a mere illusion.

"Try sensing again, see if anything comes up?" Duke intended for Dali to attempt another sensory check.

Dali obediently sensed carefully, but the result was complete blankness.

She thought for a moment and said, "I'll try praying to see if I can sense it."

Dali then knelt on the ground, closed her eyes, and prayed with utmost sincerity.

Soon, Duke sensed indistinct sounds coming from within the divine status, and upon listening closely, it was Dali's voice.

"Great God of Light above..."

Duke didn't expect to receive Dali's prayers; he attempted to respond, "I received your prayer, Your Highness the Holy Daughter."

The spiritual power wave from Dali that followed was filled with joy, "Mr. Duke?"

"It's me," Duke replied.

Dali then opened her eyes and curiously looked at Duke, then reproached herself, "Great God of Light, I shouldn't address you as..."

Duke hurriedly stopped her, waving his hand, "Please don't do that. From now on, just call me Duke; being addressed as the God of Light every day, I can't handle that."

He was well aware that he wasn't a God, merely an ordinary wizard.

However, through this test with Dali, it proved another point: a devotee sincere enough could contact Duke through prayer.

This method of contact was most likely capable of transcending the plane restrictions, so even if Duke returned to the Wizard Plane, he could communicate with Dali this way.

Because, in the past, those Gods from other planes also communicated with followers from different planes using this manner.

They could even transport certain things to followers via this route, though Duke currently possessed no such means, only able to exchange information for now.

This made Duke ponder over many things. Proper development and utilization of this could turn it into a powerful tool.

"Keep this matter confidential for now; don't tell anyone, including members of the Light Sect." Duke entrusted.

Dali nodded and said, "I understand, this matter is of great importance; I won't tell anyone."

Duke then thought of something and reminded, "There are quite a few spies from other forces within the Light Sect, pay more attention and be cautious."

When he had previously helped heal Fus, the City Lord of Azure Vault City, the other party had blatantly indicated this.

Even the City Lord's Mansion was like this, so one could only imagine that other forces had surely planted their people there as well.

This was why Duke specifically instructed her, as aside from Dali, he trusted no one else, including the so-called Bishop of the Light Sect.

During the following hour, neither Duke nor Dali hurried to leave; instead, they carefully investigated the information within this Divine Hall.

The murals around were very intact, and occasionally inscriptions on the walls recorded extremely distant and ancient events.

Dali earnestly took quick notes of all these, but now it was only a cursory browsing; later, people would surely be dispatched for ongoing research and investigation, as well as to protect these ruins.

There were two small doors on either side of the Divine Hall, leading to different annex halls, with various rooms inside. It seemed that this might have been the earliest location of the Divine Hall of Light.

The two of them walked slowly towards the depths of the Divine Hall. The further they went, the denser the dusty aroma in the air, but there was also a faint peculiar sense of tranquility, as if all disturbances were isolated outside that grand door.

In these annex halls, there weren't many additional discoveries, mostly involving murals, inscriptions, and engravings related to the Light Sect. They even found some bone fragments in certain places.

These bone fragments served as carriers for writing long ago, with characters on them that even Dali hadn't seen before, which would have to await gradual future research to see if any useful information could be gleaned.

Duke and Dali didn't stay too long; after understanding the general situation here, they left, for the remaining investigation work wasn't something that could be completed in a short time.

When they emerged from the passage, Hans's team was there around a campfire, while the Storm Dragon Eagle soared high above, intimidating every direction. Many demons sensed its presence and fled far away.

Seeing Duke and Dali come out, Hans and the others quickly got up and approached, "Master Duke! Your Highness the Holy Daughter!"

Although Dali had changed into a new outfit, the information overhead remained the same, allowing Hans and the others to instantly recognize their identities.

Duke nodded. Then, with a wave of his hand, the surrounding snow surged forth, covering the stone door at the passage entrance and erasing all traces around.

He then moved with a thought, summoning the Storm Dragon Eagle to descend from the sky, landing on a relatively wide snowy ground beside them.

Duke floated up to the Storm Dragon Eagle's back first, then turned around, grabbing Dali's soft hand gently to pull her up, her face blushing red, which might have been due to the cold weather.

He turned to Hans's group and said, "Quickly pack up, get on, and prepare to depart."

Hans and the others finally snapped back to reality, hastily gathering the items from the camp before carefully climbing onto the Storm Dragon Eagle's back.

They dared not clamber up recklessly, for fear of angering this creature who, with a flap of its wings, could annihilate them.
