Xu Chunliang remembered that he needed to treat Xiaosinan today, so he asked Zhang Haitao to contact He Tiantian.
It happened that He Tiantian was off work today and had taken her daughter to visit her father in the mountains.
Xu Chunliang clearly mentioned to her last night that he would come to treat Xiaosinan, but it seemed He Tiantian still didn't trust him and didn't take his words to heart.
Recalling the green glow that faintly appeared in Xiaosinan's eyes last night, Xu Chunliang felt that this matter couldn't be delayed any longer.
Taking the phone from Zhang Haitao, he informed He Tiantian that he intended to help with the treatment.
He Tiantian initially thought he was just casually saying it. Unexpectedly, he was serious about it, so she gently expressed that she couldn't return today and thanked him for his kindness.
Seeing her reluctance, Xu Chunliang could only hope that some miracle would protect Xiaosinan. However, judging by Xiaosinan's condition, the outlook was not optimistic, and any further delay could lead to disaster, possibly even endangering her young life.
By noon, Xu Chunliang received a call from Mei Ru Xue, who sounded extremely anxious.
It turned out that something had happened to Xiaosinan. Shortly after arriving at her grandfather's house, she began to have uncontrollable convulsions. Witnessing her daughter's condition, He Tiantian panicked and called Mei Ru Xue to inquire about the expert in the Capital City.
Upon hearing this, Mei Ru Xue realized that faraway resources wouldn't resolve the urgent crisis and contacted Xu Chunliang to organize experts from the hospital to rush over for a rescue.
Currently, the He family father and daughter were taking the child downhill. The closest doctor available was Doctor Liu.
Upon learning that Xiaosinan was in trouble, Xu Chunliang immediately decided to go there himself. Mei Ru Xue, who was on her day off, also planned to go along.
Xu Chunliang asked Zhang Haitao to drive, and they picked up Mei Ru Xue at the town government office along the way.
Upon noticing that there were no other doctors besides Xu Chunliang, Mei Ru Xue was surprised and asked, "Just you? No other medical staff?"
Xu Chunliang told her that only he could treat Xiaosinan's illness, and that other personnel would be of no use even if they came.
Mei Ru Xue was skeptical about his words, but given the current situation, they could only rush over first. If necessary, they could take Xiaosinan back to the hospital, or if possible, transfer her to the county or Dongzhou for emergency treatment.
Shiliang Village was not far away, located at the foot of Shiliang Mountain. It took Zhang Haitao less than ten minutes to drive there.
Doctor Liu's full name was Liu Shanmin. He was a somewhat renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner locally, without a formal educational background. He graduated from a health school in the late 1980s and worked in a township hospital for a while before resigning to return home and open this clinic.
It was said that he was self-taught in traditional Chinese medicine, but he had a good reputation locally, and many people sought him out for consultations.
Xu Chunliang rushed in as soon as he got out of the car. The woman at the door couldn't stop him in time, and he had already parted the curtain and dashed inside.
The first thing he saw was Jin Yonghao bending over with his white buttocks exposed, receiving some kind of treatment. The fifty-something Liu Shanmin, wearing reading glasses, was applying medicine to the affected area.
Jin Yonghao didn't expect Xu Chunliang to come in at such a time and felt so embarrassed that he wanted to find a hole to hide in.
Liu Shanmin, who had a temper, angrily commanded this uninvited guest to leave immediately and not interfere with his treatment of the patient.
Just then, He Tiantian's anxious voice came from outside: "Doctor Liu, Doctor Liu, please save my child!"
It turned out they had just made it down the mountain. The rugged mountain road was difficult to traverse, and it was harder coming down compared to Xu Chunliang and his team.
Upon hearing the voice, Xu Chunliang turned and went out, followed quickly by Liu Shanmin.
The He family had already arrived in the courtyard. The elderly man with graying hair was He Tiantian's father, He Shouren, a retired high school teacher from the local area.
He Shouren was holding his granddaughter, sweating profusely, and his gaunt face was filled with anxiety.
Not long after Xiaosinan had arrived at his home, she became ill. He had carried the child all the way down the mountain, even falling and covering his knees with red mountain clay.
Mei Ru Xue came over to help, while Doctor Liu instructed them to place Xiaosinan on the bed in the east room.
Everyone was focused on Xiaosinan, but poor Jin Yonghao was left with his treatment half-done, his pants half down, unsure whether to pull them up or keep them down.
He wasn't sure when Doctor Liu would return. Recalling the awkward scene that Xu Chunliang had witnessed left his privacy exposed. How could he face that guy again? He wished he could just disappear.
Xiaosinan lay on the bed, unconscious, her small face ghastly pale, lips turning blue, covered in cold sweat with a body shaking uncontrollably, her hands clenched into tight fists, muscles all over her body rigid, her limbs continuously twitching. Her condition was already very dangerous.
He Shouren and his daughter thought the child was having an epileptic seizure. He Tiantian had completely lost her composure and was just crying, while He Shouren remained somewhat calm and described the onset of the illness briefly.
Liu Shanmin reached out to lift Xiaosinan's eyelids, seeing that her eyes only had the whites left, with black spots all over the whites, which made him gasp in shock.
He Shouren trembled as he asked, "How is it?"
Liu Shanmin didn't answer, instead feeling Xiaosinan's pulse, which was weak and obscure.
His face was serious: "This girl's innate deficiencies, acquired imbalance, distorted Qi mechanism, and dual deficiency of the spleen and kidney have caused her convulsions. Her weak kidney essence makes her incapable of strength, while spleen Qi deficiency does not reach the extremities. Coupled with the mountain's damp cold, her Ying and Wei are not in harmony, she suffers from acute cold invasion, and the cold constricts and leads to frequent convulsions. This acute condition is not my specialty; it's best to send her to the hospital quickly."
He was not confident about curing Xiaosinan and did not want to mislead others, so he advised them to seek other experts.
The crowd listened to him, and in the end, he was powerless, leaving everyone extremely disappointed, and He Tiantian cried out in helplessness and fear.
Mei Ru Xue never believed in these village doctors from the start, thinking staying any longer would just waste time; she immediately said to Xu Chunliang: "Director Xu, quickly contact your hospital to prepare for a rescue."
Xu Chunliang, however, shook his head and said, "It's too late. Her convulsions are not caused by cold invasion but by parasite invasion."
Liu Shanmin was displeased. For over thirty years, he had built a reputable medical practice in the nearby villages. Who was this young man daring to challenge him? Parasite invasion? He had never heard of it.
Xu Chunliang said, "The immediate priority is to stop her convulsions. Doctor Liu, I'll need to borrow your space!"
He took out a needle pouch from his shoulder bag, which he had brought from Huichun Hall. His grandfather instructed him never to forget practicing the art of needling.
Xu Chunliang's skill certainly didn't need practice, but carrying the needle pouch was not without benefits, prepared for any emergency. On the way to Nanjiang previously, he had used these needles to save Luan Yuchuan's life.
Seeing "Huichun Hall" on Xu Chunliang's needle pouch, the fury in Liu Shanmin's eyes vanished instantly. This young man was actually from Huichun Hall?
In the Traditional Chinese Medicine Community of Dongzhou, Huichun Hall is absolutely a prestigious name.
He Shouren didn't know Xu Chunliang. Seeing him take out needles to treat his granddaughter made him worry even more. Xiaosinan's condition was already critical, and they've already wasted time getting here. If she fell into the hands of a charlatan, it might be too late for regrets, he trembled and asked, "Who are you?"
Zhang Haitao answered, "Our director!"
Among everyone present, besides Xu Chunliang himself, his confidence was the greatest. In just a few days, he had witnessed Xu Chunliang constantly creating miracles to the point of near worship.
Mei Ru Xue looked at Xu Chunliang nervously. She also did not believe but, seeing Xu Chunliang's resolute face and confident eyes, she gained a bit more faith. It stood to reason that someone as smart as Xu Chunliang wouldn't act recklessly.
Xu Chunliang sensed their unease and softly said, "You have no other choice. Sending her to the hospital now, no one else can save her; sending her to a big hospital in Dongzhou is also too late. Give me ten minutes, and I promise to cure her convulsions!"
His words were firm and powerful. Without immense confidence, how could he utter such words?
Though Mei Ru Xue believed he wouldn't do something without assurance, nor would he treat a little girl's life lightly, Xiaosinan was already at the crossroads of life and death. If anything happened, Xu Chunliang might face enormous trouble.
While speaking, Xu Chunliang did not delay for a moment. He first used a three-edged needle to prickle Xiaosinan's hands and feet at the ten Xue, and the tips of her ears, producing bleeding with each prick.
Next, he pricked the Baihui acupoint and Dazhui acupoint.
The Baihui acupoint is located at the apex of the body. Also called the Three Yang Five Meetings.
Three Yang: The pathway of the foot's three yang. Five Meetings: The meeting point of the hands and feet's three yang, the governor vessel, and the liver meridian of the foot's jueyin.
The acupoint is located on the midline of the top of the head, 5 inches straight up from the midpoint of the hairline, at the midpoint between the line connecting the Shenting and the Nao Hu points.
This acupoint is a crucial point on the head, located at the top, and its function is to ascend and descend.
Treating from above benefits the lower body by uplifting and firming the Qi.
Using yang to guide yin allows calming of the yang and cultivating of yin.
It treats the head when stimulating the head, thus invigorating the brain and calming the mind.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is said that this acupoint is akin to the heavenly polar star residing to the north. Triggering this point can cause unconscious collapse, and a heavy blow here can be fatal as it is one of the body's death points.
Xu Chunliang used the three-edged needle with a pricking technique for vertical needling, stopping when he felt the soft rubbery sensation upon piercing through the aponeurosis and periosteum of the skull, mainly using the needle sensation to stimulate brain revival in the patient.
Next, he chose to needle the Dazhui acupoint.
The Dazhui acupoint, also known as Bailao acupoint, is so named because it is located above the first thoracic vertebra's spine, hence being named "big" spine, while Bailao correlates with curing five fatigues and seven injuries.
The governor vessel and the hand and foot's three yang channels intersect at this point. Needling the Dazhui acupoint can expel wind, release external pathogens, unblock yang, relieve pain, supplement deficiency, alleviate fatigue, calm, and soothe the spirit.
Xu Chunliang asked Mei Ru Xue to help turn Xiaosinan's body to the side. He didn't bother her family as he feared that excessive concern would cause chaos. Ideally, the treatment process should have her family leave, but Xu Chunliang couldn't yet gain trust, so he had to compromise.
Under Xu Chunliang's guidance, Mei Ru Xue turned Xiaosinan's body sideways, then bent her knees with her head lowered, positioning her as if she were an embryo in a womb.
At this moment, everyone finally realized that Xiaosinan's convulsions had stopped, just as Xu Chunliang promised they would stop within ten minutes.
