From Evil Sect Leader to Doctor

Chapter 69: A Complete Mess

Any doctor working on the clinical frontline cannot avoid doctor-patient disputes, it's just a matter of size.

Yu Mo, the deputy director of gynecology, also recently encountered a troublesome issue. Two days ago, she treated a patient named Zhao Xiaohui, diagnosing early intrauterine pregnancy. But that evening, the patient was rushed to the Women's and Children's Health Care Hospital for surgery due to an acute abdomen caused by an ectopic pregnancy, narrowly escaping danger.

The patient's family came to the medical department with medical records seeking answers. Yang Zhen Gang, who had never dealt with such a situation and was not skilled at communication, inadvertently agitated the patient's family after just a couple of sentences, causing both sides' emotions to escalate, turning a peaceful negotiation into a fierce conflict.

Huang Lide took sick leave in the afternoon but went to play mahjong. Although he was honest for a couple of days upon first joining the medical department, this activity became an addiction that was hard to quit, reverting to old habits after just two days. Administrative work doesn't require night shifts, but requires daily check-ins, making the schedule less free compared to clinical work.

Yang Zhen Gang, despite lacking common sense, understood the importance of defending his hospital on principle, and started shouting at the opposing family. He couldn't articulate any reasoning and lacked communication skills, relying solely on a loud voice to suppress them.

Before entering the room, Cheng Xiaohong heard the argument inside and quickly turned around, going outside to call Xu Chunliang, telling him that his office was close to a fight and asking him, the department head, to come back and put out the fire.

Xu Chunliang was in the Traditional Chinese Medicine department chatting with Zheng Peian. Zheng Peian had invited him over regarding Lin Yougang's incident from a few days ago. In the end, Xu Chunliang cured Lin Yougang's Yang Ming Fire Evil. Zheng Peian's act of repaying injury with kindness made Lin Yougang feel deeply guilty. He informed Zheng Peian that the person framing him was named Cao Xingwang.

Zheng Peian was very familiar with this name, as Cao Xingwang was a childhood friend with whom he had loaned money, ultimately losing all their principal funds.

Due to this incident, Cao Xingwang blamed him and demanded compensation, though back then it was Cao Xingwang himself who pleaded for an introduction to a loan company.

Since then, the two had become enemies. Zheng Peian thought that after so many years, everyone should have moved on, but unexpectedly Cao Xingwang's hatred ran so deep that he still sought to frame him.

To thank Zheng Peian for healing him without holding a grudge, Lin Yougang specially bought two packs of cigarettes and left without a word.

Zheng Peian learned from this experience and told Xu Chunliang, who thought there was nothing to worry about this time. Everyone must have some conscience, and Lin Yougang should know fear after this lesson. If he dared to repay kindness with injury again, sooner or later it would backfire on him.

Xu Chunliang originally thought this incident might be professional jealousy, suspecting Zhu Mingyuan as the main culprit, but now realized he was mistaken. Although Zhu Mingyuan was unhappy about Zheng Peian's return, he hadn't stooped so low.

Zheng Peian had another matter, entrusted by someone to introduce a match for Xu Chunliang.

Xu Chunliang chuckled upon hearing this, as Zheng Peian himself was single, yet he was introducing: "Uncle Zheng, give me the scoop, surely it wasn't my grandpa asking you to help matchmake?"

"That's not the case. Your grandpa doesn't care about this. His greatest wish now is for you to obtain your medical license soon." Zheng Peian took out his phone and showed Xu Chunliang a photo: "A pretty girl, take a look."

Xu Chunliang glanced, and the girl in the photo was presentable.

Zheng Peian continued to introduce: "The girl is very outstanding, from a cadre family, graduated from Dongzhou Normal University, works at the city's Housing Fund Center, and is a legitimate civil servant."

Xu Chunliang said: "Thank you, I'd rather not consider such things for now."

"You'll have to consider it eventually, why not exchange contact information first, chat privately, and meet if suitable?"

Xu Chunliang looked at Zheng Peian: "Confess, who gave you this task?"

Zheng Peian laughed: "Nurse Chief Tang from Neurology."

Xu Chunliang knew Tang Mingmei; they had dined together before, surprised she enjoyed matchmaking. He remembered Tang Mingmei was currently divorced.

"Uncle Zheng, are you using me to get close to Nurse Chief Tang?"

"Nonsense!" Though denying it, Zheng Peian's face flushed slightly.

This didn't escape Xu Chunliang's notice; he patted Peian's shoulder: "Want me to help match you two?"

Peian quickly shook his head: "There's no such thing, my heart can't accommodate others."

Xu Chunliang thought to himself, my aunt has been married for years; could he still be thinking of her? Can a person truly be so sentimental? I refuse to believe it.

Not wanting to discuss the topic further, Peian deliberately shifted to work-related matters: "By the way, I heard Huang Lide and Yang Zhen Gang have been transferred to your medical department, you should seize the opportunity."

"Opportunity for what? I have no intention of becoming a medical department head."

Peian nodded, although eager for Xu Chunliang to become a department head, he understood that Xu Chunliang's seniority was too shallow for such a promotion, making it unlikely to happen in reality.

Cheng Xiaohong's second call came through, urging Xu Chunliang to hurry back, or risk Yang Zhen Gang and the patient's family coming to blows.

Xu Chunliang told her he couldn't leave now and advised contacting Huang Lide. He was dissatisfied with the leadership's arrangements, thinking they played balancing games by letting him lead while sending two fools to vie for power. They may enjoy balancing games, but he'd show them what imbalance looks like.

Feeling helpless, Cheng Xiaohong called Huang Lide, hearing card game noises upon connecting. She explained the current situation to him, but after just a couple of sentences, Huang Lide grew impatient, telling her to find Xu Chunliang since the hospital currently designated him to lead the department, and if needed, to call security.

Cheng Xiaohong was exasperated, phoning Xu Chunliang again and relaying Huang Lide's words verbatim.

Unfazed, Xu Chunliang instructed her to call Huang Lide again, demand he return immediately to handle the situation, and if he refused, noting his unexplained absence and report it to Human Resources.

Feeling like a ball being kicked around, Cheng Xiaohong wanted to shout she was quitting, but dared not. After contemplating, she called Huang Lide again and relayed Xu Chunliang's message verbatim.

Huang Lide was infuriated, thinking Xu Chunliang considered himself important, demanding who granted him that authority to mark his absence. He knew Xu Chunliang was a bold character, and no matter his dissatisfaction, should return before things escalated. From the card game venue, he was only ten minutes away from the hospital.

Having a streak of good luck today, Huang Lide reluctantly ended the game early, returning to the office with a dark expression, feeling as if he had lost thousands.

Inside the medical department, disputes continued, though hadn't deteriorated to an unmanageable level. Seeing Lide return, Yang Zhen Gang felt relieved, promptly advising the patient's family that Lide was the department head, even a fool knew how to redirect conflict.

Immediately, the patient's family approached Huang Lide, who patiently listened to their story and reviewed their materials. Being clinically trained, he quickly realized the hospital bore responsibility. He persuaded the family to wait, assuring them a swift investigation and response.

However, the patient's family was adamantly insistent, demanding Yu Mo come immediately to provide answers, threatening to approach the dean if refused.

Witnessing their firm stance, Lide had no choice but to contact Yu Mo, instructing Cheng Xiaohong to remind Lide that typically such matters should be delayed, understanding their demands, to control the situation before direct doctor-patient interaction, safeguarding medical staff and mitigating conflict.

Lide dismissed Cheng Xiaohong's concerns as unnecessary, thinking the patient's family seemed reasonable, unlikely to act excessively, and personally phoned Yu Mo, asking her to come and explain matters to the patient.

On the phone, Yu Mo told Lide she shouldn't have to explain. Her diagnosis was based on auxiliary examinations, with the ultrasound showing intrauterine pregnancy, misguiding her decision.

Lide decided to involve Obstetrics and Gynecology Director Wang Zhaogang too. Having no administrative experience, with solely clinical background, Lide viewed administrative staff as freeloaders, thinking anyone not foolish could handle the work well.
