Era of Magic and Martial Arts

Chapter 184: Destiny Is the First Sequence!

Chen Ya listened from the side, and proactively proposed his own ideas and requests.

He hoped the prison, aside from organizing labor reform for inmates, would arrange more educational activities; for example, having the inmates collectively study the "Prison Handbook" weekly and then write reflections, to deepen their understanding of life's principles.

However, despite Chen Ya's gentle tone when presenting these suggestions, his gaze did not ignite with hope like other inmates.

On the contrary, when he looked at Feng Mu, there was a subtle darkness hidden in the depths of his eyes, increasingly sinister and cold.

"This person is lying, no, he is telling the truth, but his truth is meticulously wrapped, like the smile on his face, a disguise of falsity emanating from his bones."

Chen Ya observed Feng Mu's face impassively, like a seasoned tailor measuring and cutting fabric, his eyes being the ruler.

Thus, he noticed Feng Mu's facial expressions were exceptionally balanced, the lines of his smile were as if cut by a masterful craft, elegantly curved and smooth, as though the bones beneath his cheeks were ironed, finding not a single discordant wrinkle, impeccably unbelievable.

Most people might be affected by his refined smile, but Chen Ya saw through the surface to grasp the essence, hence feeling an awe.

"He hasn't undergone cosmetic surgery, rather, he can control the bones beneath his cheeks, perpetually undergoing cosmetic changes!!"

Chen Ya pressed his lips tightly, he was somewhat reluctant to kill this new prison guard, isn't he the ideal fitting model he dreamed of?!!

But work needs to be completed, hobbies can only be secondary, this is Chen Ya's professional attitude as an inmate.

Then, Chen Ya heard a celestial voice, making all his troubles vanish in his heart.

He heard Feng Mu say softly, "0294 Chen Ya, right? Your suggestions were very good, I will compile them and report to the prison warden. If approved, I think it will be implemented in our Zone A, with groups of eight inmates per cell, conducting collective learning every Saturday evening at 7 PM."

Chen Ya's pupils constricted, meeting Feng Mu's deep eyes, then saw Feng Mu's right hand clenching into a fist, covering his mouth as he coughed slightly forcefully and uncomfortably, then moved the fist to his chest and tapped three times.

A87 is A087, which is Chen Ya's team destiny number.

Fist against the chest symbolizes—"For Destiny, offer Death!"

Feng Mu lowered his fist, no longer looking at Chen Ya, but looked at the inmates inside the room, and said warmly:

"After chatting so much, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm the newly appointed prison guard, my name is Feng Mu. From now on, you will report to me, I hope everyone cooperates with my work, so we can all enjoy a beautiful future in Second Prison."

The inmates exchanged looks, their expressions slightly strained showing a flash of struggle.

However, Chen Ya unhesitatingly first declared: "Yes, I will definitely actively cooperate to complete the tasks you assign."

The inmates looked speechlessly at cell leader Chen Ya, thinking in unison: "In the district captain's office, you also stepped forward first to declare, right? Are you not contradicting yourself?"

Chen Ya found no contradiction, complying with the prison district captain's arrangements is his duty as an inmate.

Complying with Online's arrangements is his mission as leader tailor of A087.

When duty and mission conflict, always remember: [Destiny] is always the first sequence!

The inmates sparsely followed to declare.

When the prison's forensic doctor, Qin Liang, slowly walked in, what he saw was such a scene.

Qin Liang snorted coldly, his gaze lingering on Feng Mu briefly, then lightly sweeping over those inmates, with a hint of sarcasm, he said:

"It seems you are the new prison guard. Treating inmates so amiably like this, I fear you won't live long."

Feng Mu still maintained a smile, looking at the somewhat middle-aged balding forensic doctor, sincerely asking for guidance: "I am indeed the new prison guard, if there is anything incorrect in my actions, please point it out."

A flicker of surprise flashed in Qin Liang's eyes, he scrutinized Feng Mu, with a hint of emotion in his tone, said: "Your speech is quite polite, I've been in Second Prison for over a decade, it's the first time I've seen a young person like you speak this way."

He crouched down, casually inspecting the corpse on the ground, then picked up a pen, writing hastily on a sheet filling out the death information.

While writing, he advised Feng Mu in an experienced manner:

"Remember, in Second Prison, you cannot smile nor be polite, you have to show ferocity and rudeness, only then can you live long."

Qin Liang finished the death sheet, then stood up, casually tossing the paper to Feng Mu.

His gaze swept disdainfully over the inmates in the cell, a cruel smile hanging at the corner of his mouth:

"Don't be fooled by the inmates' docility. They're all scum and dregs, and if you cut open their chests, their hearts are black. Even if they weren't black before, if they've survived here for a while, their hearts have been dyed black."

Qin Liang, for some reason, seemed quite willing to give a few pointers to the new prison guard,

"In any case, remember this: there's not a single decent person in Second Prison. If you want to survive here, you must dye yourself with the same color."

Feng Mu's expression remained unchanged, but with a humble demeanor, he asked, "What about the prison guards in Second Prison, my colleagues?"

Qin Liang sneered, speaking without reserve: "Them? They're worse than the inmates. Those people, even if you strip their flesh, the darkness permeates right through their bones."

At the cell door, two patrolling prison guards happened to pass by. On hearing Qin Liang's words, they jeered loudly at him:

"That's right, our bones might be black, but Forensic Doctor Qin, you're truly the one with black blood, hahaha!"

They seemed to totally disregard Feng Mu's presence, as if he were just inconsequential air, unworthy of a glance.

Feng Mu bowed his head slightly, his gaze falling on the sheet filled with death information.

The handwriting on the sheet was sloppy, summarizing with a crude conclusion: "Inmates fought and killed each other, both ending in mutual destruction."

He frowned, somewhat surprised, and asked, "Two?"

Qin Liang bared a row of blackened teeth: "Yep, another one died last night, kept it in my place overnight, just waiting for this one here, alright, take it to the incinerator."

Feng Mu's smile remained unchanged, his voice low and meaningful: "At least you can send them off together on Yellow Springs Road. In Second Prison, you really count as a rare good person."

Qin Liang was slightly taken aback, his gaze lingering on Feng Mu's face for a moment before widening his eyes and laughing heartily:

"Alright, based on your words, if anything happens to you in the future, I promise to write you a beautiful autopsy report."

Feng Mu's face bloomed into a smile as radiant as a flower: "Thank you for your kind words, I'll thank you in advance then."

Qin Liang turned to leave with a laugh, and Feng Mu immediately waved his hand, signaling two inmates to come over and they together lifted the body on the ground, slowly heading towards the direction of the incinerator.

The cell door was closed again, restoring the previous silence.

Chen Ya didn't follow them, but instead picked up a damp cloth, crouched down, and began carefully wiping the bloodstains off the floor.

Wang Jiao along with several other inmates hurried to fetch basins of water, crouched around the congealed blood on the ground, whispering amongst themselves.

"The new prison guard seems to be a good person."

"Ha, why, can't you bring yourself to act, or are you planning to report us to him, or to the zone chief?"

"No, on the contrary, I've decided to act. Anyway, if he's a good person, he won't last long. Better use his life to exchange for ours. This way, when he dies, it can be considered as helping us, and we can remember his kindness in the future."

"Exactly, when the time comes, let's all take action so he can go quickly and painlessly. It's the least we can do for him."

Everyone held their breath, eyes all focused on Chen Ya.

Chen Ya gently placed the blood-stained damp cloth down, his gaze sweeping over each person present, candid and resolute:

"That's truly the case. As inmates, following the zone chief's orders is everyone's duty. Seeing everyone willing to unite and get the job done makes me feel immensely gratified."

Everyone let out a long breath of relief, while Wang Jiao nervously swallowed, a bitter smile appearing on his face:

"Really scared me, cell leader, when you expressed your stance so quickly just now, I thought you were going to betray us."

Chen Ya lightly rubbed the damp cloth in the water basin, then wrung it out and flicked off the water droplets from his hands, his gaze calm and compelling, he said softly:

"I won't, even if everyone else dies, I will not betray!"
