Birthroom.
Song Xiaoyun felt that she could clearly hear the breathing of the few people around her.
Everyone's gaze was fixed on Lu Xuan. After a while, seeing that Lu Xuan hadn't made any movements, Song Xiaoyun couldn't help but frown slightly and gently nudged Wu Liguo with her elbow:
She whispered, "Teacher Wu, is this... going to work?"
Wu Liguo turned his head and saw Song Xiaoyun looking anxious, with a hint of doubt on her face. He pressed his hand to signal, "Don't be anxious. Traditional Chinese Medicine's diagnosis is different from our Western medicine. Modern medical equipment can reveal everything at a glance, but Chinese medicine relies on observing, hearing, questioning, and taking pulses, as well as experience to make judgments. You can't rush it."
Song Xiaoyun explained, "I'm just worried that if it takes too long, something might go wrong."
However, Wu Liguo seemed to see through Song Xiaoyun's thoughts and chuckled, "I think you're doubting Dr. Lu's abilities."
Song Xiaoyun looked at him in surprise, "Why would you say that?"
"Everything you're thinking is written all over your face. It's easy to tell." Wu Liguo smirked.
But Song Xiaoyun disapproved, "You think everyone is like you, Teacher Wu, with a pair of sharp eyes that can see through everything!"
"Ahem..."
Wu Liguo let out an awkward laugh, but after the laughter, he became serious again, "Actually, you haven't interacted with Dr. Lu. If you had, you wouldn't have any doubts. If Elder Ye were here, he would definitely step in and talk to you about it."
"What's up with Teacher Ye?" Song Xiaoyun asked in confusion.
Wu Liguo smiled and said, "He's completely convinced by Dr. Lu's acupuncture skills. If it wasn't inconvenient to mention, he'd even want to keep Dr. Lu in the neurology department."
"How could that be?" Song Xiaoyun widened her eyes in disbelief at what she heard.
Wu Liguo explained, "Why not? If you saw acupuncture helping stroke patients recover one after another, you'd think the same. Although traditional Chinese medicine doesn't hold the same status it once did, you have to admit, it really is quite magical."
"Is Dr. Lu really that impressive?" Song Xiaoyun couldn't help but ask.
Wu Liguo smiled mysteriously, "Even more impressive than you imagine. Watch, since Dr. Lu agreed to come over and try, he probably has great confidence. Otherwise, he wouldn't have agreed to come and try. Don't worry, soon you'll see if what I say is true."
Although Song Xiaoyun was a bit skeptical, seeing Wu Liguo's confident face, she set aside her doubts and turned her gaze again to the young man deep in thought by the delivery bed.
Curiosity and confusion surfaced all over her face.
After a good while, seeing Lu Xuan finally had some movement, Song Xiaoyun couldn't hold it in any longer and hurriedly asked, "Dr. Lu, is there a way?"
Lu Xuan took a breath, nodded, and said, "We can try, but I can't guarantee it will definitely work."
"Then thank you, Dr. Lu," Song Xiaoyun expressed her gratitude quickly.
"You're welcome."
After speaking, Lu Xuan turned his head to take out the acupuncture needles, moved the expectant mother's hand slightly, then aimed accurately and inserted the needle over an inch into the Hegu Acupoint.
He twisted and inserted the needle several times, then moved to the other side, performing the same action on the left hand's Hegu Acupoint.
The Bo Needle Method's puncture supplementing and draining technique is a commonly used clinical single-complement-and-drain technique.
Needle supplementing and draining is a technique targeted at the deficiency and excess of conditions and is an important factor determining the efficacy of acupuncture.
Additionally, both the supplementing method and draining method have seven techniques.
These are twisting supplementing and draining, insertion and extraction supplementing and draining, swift and slow supplementing and draining, along and against supplementing and draining, breathing supplementing and draining, opening and closing supplementing and draining, and balanced supplementing and draining.
Lu Xuan used two of these:
Twisting supplementing and draining and insertion and extraction supplementing and draining.
Twisting supplementing and draining distinguish between supplementing and draining techniques based on the strength of twisting, angle size, frequency speed, operation time length, and the direction of twisting force.
The supplementing method involves needle insertion, achieving qi, with small twisting angles, slow frequencies, and light force. Thumb forward, index finger backward (left twist) force is predominant, characterized by repeated twisting and short operation times.
Draining needle insertion, achieving qi, involves large twisting angles, fast frequencies, and heavy force. Thumb backward, index finger forward (right twist) force is predominant. Like the supplementing method, it features repeated twisting operations, though operation time is relatively longer.
It is worth mentioning that twisting supplementing and draining should be performed once qi is achieved, though twisting supplementing and draining methods can be applied to most acupuncture points.
Regarding insertion and extraction supplementing and draining, techniques are distinguished by the strength of insertion and extraction, range size, frequency speed, and operation time length.
For supplementing in the insertion and extraction technique: needle insertion and achieving qi is necessary, but different in that the needle must first be shallow then deep, with heavy insertion and light extraction, small amplitude of insertion and extraction, and slow frequency. Like the twisting supplementing method, it also features repeated twisting and short operation times.
For draining: based on achieving qi with the needle, it requires first deep then shallow insertion, with light insertion and heavy extraction, large amplitude of insertion and extraction, and fast frequency. The characteristics align with those of twisting draining methods, also featuring repeated twisting operations with relatively long operation times.
Lu Xuan was busy with the needles. While Song Xiaoyun and others were curious, they knew little about Chinese medicine and couldn't really ask anything.
It wasn't that they didn't want to know; they just feared that even if Lu Xuan explained it clearly, they still might not understand.
Especially Wu Liguo, he had experience.
He didn't understand earlier, and although he wanted to record a video for his son, this was the delivery room, and his phone was outside, not brought inside.
