I Can Hear the Heart's Voice of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Chapter 101: Hello Dr. Lu (Part 2)

When it came to getting the herbs, quite a few ended up being spilled. While gathering the medicines, Ji Xiuwen obviously had no time to clean up. Meanwhile, as Lu Xuan and Su Kenan were tidying up the consultation room, Ji Xiuwen plunged into the herbal medicine room. By the time everything was more or less organized inside and out, it was already time to get off work.

Su Kenan went home with Cheng Gaowen, and the old man had something to do today too, so he left early.

As for Lu Xuan and Ji Xiuwen, just like yesterday, after grabbing a bite near the Health Center, they packed their tools, took a cab, and headed straight to the Ninth Hospital. They were busy at the Ninth Hospital until 9 p.m., then parted ways to go home.

Lu Xuan got home, read a medical book for less than an hour, washed up, and went to sleep.

On the other hand, Ji Xiuwen, after getting home, took a shower, listened to recordings for nearly two hours, and compared the content with a chart of acupuncture points. He had a book called "Dong's Acupuncture" beside him, flipping through the book whenever he encountered something unclear.

...

Thursday.

The weather was clear, not a cloud in the sky.

Another rainless day, the scorching sun was already displaying its terrifying power from early morning, roasting every inch of land it could shine upon, causing the temperature of what should have been a cool morning to rise rapidly.

When Lu Xuan saw Ji Xiuwen at the breakfast shop opposite the Health Center, he noticed the other looking weary, sitting there with panda-like dark circles under his eyes.

Lu Xuan couldn't help himself and chuckled, "Did you commit a robbery last night? Those dark circles are intense."

"I studied acupuncture all night. Why is it that I don't have your photographic memory? Otherwise, I wouldn't be this tired!"

Ji Xiuwen vented to Lu Xuan about last night's acupuncture study experience, having to look at acupuncture charts, listen to recordings, and consult books for things he didn't know.

The problem is, even after consulting the books, he couldn't necessarily remember everything, turning around and forgetting it all.

"I was busy all night, studied all night, and after a nap, forgot most of it," Ji Xiuwen said, looking frustrated.

"Don't be discouraged, take it slow. This can't be rushed. Following a systematic approach is much better than cramming like this. Rushing will only make it harder to learn and remember,"

Looking at his dejected old classmate, Lu Xuan could only offer words of comfort, patting him on the shoulder as he sat down across from him.

Ji Xiuwen also knew this couldn't be rushed, so he nodded reluctantly before saying, "I ordered some youtiao and soy milk, along with two steamers of soup dumplings. Is that enough? If not, I can ask the owner to make two more bowls of wontons."

Lu Xuan glanced down; it was definitely enough for two people.

"It's enough. Why eat so much in the morning?"

Lu Xuan sat down and said while eating, "I'll settle the breakfast costs with you once a month. Don't say it's unnecessary. A couple of times is fine, but not every day. Even if you're willing, I'm not. And don't bring up the assistant thing. If it were someone else assisting me, I'd still teach them everything, no holding back.

Friendship is one thing, but money should be clear. Even among close brothers, accounts are settled meticulously.

Besides, as an assistant, your salary isn't as high as mine, and I have the Flying Knife fee from the Ninth Hospital. All in all, your monthly salary might not even be half of mine."

Lu Xuan's words left Ji Xiuwen speechless, unable to find any reason on the tip of his tongue.

Primarily, Lu Xuan had preemptively addressed all the reasons Ji Xiuwen might have had, leaving Ji Xiuwen with little choice but to spread his hands under Lu Xuan's serious gaze: "You're right, and you also have the Flying Knife fee. I won't pretend to be generous. When you get the Flying Knife fee, treat me to a great meal."

"That's simple, I'll find a Black Pearl Restaurant."

"Forget it, most Black Pearl Restaurants have an average cost of five to six hundred, even up to a thousand per person. We're just two men; what's the point of going there? If you have the money, you might as well ask Su Kenan. Inviting her is way better than inviting me," Ji Xiuwen said, waving his hand.

Mentioning Su Kenan, Lu Xuan, however, didn't say anything, focusing instead on his breakfast.

After the two finished eating, they headed straight to the Health Center.

Since they had tidied up the day before, there was no need for further cleaning in the morning. Ji Xiuwen proactively went to get water, while Lu Xuan wasn't idle either. He greeted the patients already waiting at the consultation room door, then turned on the computer. After Su Kenan arrived, they began their usual Thursday consultations.

The morning's situation was similar to yesterday afternoon, with mostly returning patients, most of whom had consultations last week or the week before. Because they were already familiar with the cases, consultations went much faster, only needing to check the pulse and tongue signs to see if there was any improvement, and whether the prescribed medicine was effective.

With the increased speed, by the time all the scheduled appointments were seen, they had managed to see an additional ten or so patients, totaling at least seventy patients for the morning.

After lunch, and a short nap, the three resumed the afternoon consultations.

At the entrance to the Traditional Chinese Medicine department.

Liu Shao, rarely livestreaming during the day, said, "Guys, I'm here to see Dr. Lu. Look, they're all here to see Dr. Lu, and this is just a part of them. Not many can sit here, many patients are at the inspection department waiting.

I heard there were at least seventy patients looking for Dr. Lu this morning. His reputation is growing, but appointments are getting harder to get. I couldn't even get an appointment for next week, only for the week after. It's tough.

In a moment, I'll talk to Dr. Lu about setting up a group. Who knows if it'll work, but I'll try my best."

Just as he finished speaking, he heard his own name called over the speaker system.
