I Can Hear the Heart's Voice of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Chapter 32: The Kidneys Store Essence the Brain is the Sea of Marrow (Part 2)

Unlike Western medicine, where after graduating and passing the licensing exams, you can open a clinic at your doorstep and start treating patients.

In a large hospital, you can follow other doctors and learn from them, or accompany seniors during rounds. Even if you don't get direct guidance, you can still learn something.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is different, with no mentors, relying solely on school-taught knowledge is far from enough to independently diagnose diseases and prescribe treatments.

Dreams and reality are two completely different things.

Compared with his classmates, Lu Xuan found that coming to the Health Center turned out to be a good thing.

Of course, Lu Xuan also knew that this good thing was because he could hear the Heart's Voice of Chinese medicine, daring to treat and prescribe, knowing immediately if something was wrong, without worrying about misdiagnosis or prescribing incorrect medicine.

Lu Xuan slightly raised his head, looking at the densely packed registration information on the computer, feeling somewhat overwhelmed.

Previously at the District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, he dreamed day and night of sitting in consultations, eager to showcase his skills.

But now, he has realized that having many patients seeking his diagnosis can also be a headache.

Especially now, being the only person in the TCM department, having to handle everything alone means low efficiency. With so many registrations in just one morning, he's uncertain if he can see them all in one day.

"Looks like I'll have to work overtime today."

Lu Xuan thought inwardly and then glanced at the middle-aged man who had just walked in.

The middle-aged man entered holding a registration slip, glanced behind him, then instinctively closed the consulting room door before approaching Lu Xuan, placing the registration slip and medical record on the table.

Lu Xuan casually flipped open the medical record and glanced at it, asking, "Where are you feeling unwell?"

Li Qianghui hesitated to speak, clearly finding it hard to talk about.

"Avoiding illness for fear of treatment."

After Lu Xuan spoke, Li Qianghui remained silent for a long time before finally biting his teeth and saying, "Dr. Lu, I'm already forty years old this year, and I've always wanted to have a child with my wife.

But after being married for more than ten years, every time we have intercourse... there's no ejaculation."

I've visited many hospitals for consultations and undergone many tests, but there's been no effect. Here are some tests I did back in my hometown."

As he spoke, Li Qianghui took out some test reports from his bag.

Lu Xuan took them and glanced at them.

Li Qianghui's issue of non-ejaculation is not azoospermia, but lack of ejaculation.

Moreover, from the test results, Li Qianghui's sperm morphology values appear normal, nothing unusual.

"Dr. Lu, can this be treated?" Li Qianghui asked nervously.

In fact, Li Qianghui didn't hold much hope.

Having visited numerous hospitals, tried both Western medicine and TCM, none worked. He registered under Lu Xuan's name because he heard Lu Xuan recently treated several challenging cases, hoping to give it a try in desperation.

At the door, he hesitated for a long time before deciding whether to come in.

Even multiple times, he considered turning around and leaving.

On one hand, he's not great with words and doesn't like speaking with strangers.

On the other hand, given the nature of his condition, as a man, he naturally finds it a bit embarrassing.

If Lu Xuan was an older, seasoned Chinese doctor, he might feel more at ease, but with Lu Xuan being so young, it makes him feel even more awkward.

Can it be treated?

Lu Xuan actually wasn't sure.

He could hear the Heart's Voice, but it's not omnipotent.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is indeed profound and has saved countless lives, but it can't solve every issue.

"Let me take a look first."

"Your hand."

Li Qianghui placed his hand on the pulse pillow.

Lu Xuan's slender fingers lightly rested on Li Qianghui's pulse, carefully feeling it.

Meanwhile, he looked up at Li Qianghui: "Let me see your tongue."

Li Qianghui extended his tongue.

Lu Xuan took a glance and nodded slightly.

Li Qianghui's pulse, Lu Xuan had encountered before.

The pulse was deep, yet different from Zhang Song's deep and weak pulse.

Lu Xuan wondered if he sensed it wrong, as Li Qianghui's pulse felt slightly choppy and lacked smoothness.

However, Lu Xu wasn't too sure.

Distinguishing choppy pulse isn't easy, and even experienced TCM practitioners may struggle.

Fortunately, at this moment, dry ginger, known for its fiery temper, couldn't help but grumble about Lu Xuan's slow pulse-taking speed:

[Deep and choppy pulse, what's there to feel? This speed is much slower compared to some renowned TCM practitioners.]

Full of disdain.

But this made Lu Xuan's heart skip with joy.

When drowsiness strikes, someone sends a pillow, hoping for more good luck.

As for dry ginger's disdain, who cares!

"Regarding the deep and choppy pulse..."

Lu Xuan wiped away the troubled look and swiftly recalled information from his memory.

Deep pulse indicates either deficiency of the righteous or prevalence of the evil.

The deep pulse signifies internal conditions, contrasting with the superficial pulse in terms of positioning.

A pulse that's felt with light pressure is superficial, whereas one that requires heavy pressure to reach the tendons and bones is deep.

Why is the pulse deep?

When Qi and blood fail to circulate outward to fill the blood vessels, hence the pulse becomes deep.

There are generally two reasons for poor circulation of Qi and blood.

One is deficiency of the righteous, where Qi and blood lack strength to circulate outward, reflecting as deep and weak; the other is prevalence of the evil, where blockages in circulation result in deep and strong pulse.

Choppy pulse indicates Qi stagnation, blood stasis, insufficiency of fluids, or blood deficiency.

Due to fluid deficiency and blood shortage, the meridians can't be nourished, leading to obstructed blood flow and sluggish pulse movement. Thus, a weak choppy pulse.

In conditions like chronic hemorrhage, nocturnal emissions, impotence, limb numbness, chest pain, extremities feeling cold etc., choppy pulse is commonly seen, indicating deficiency syndrome.

If Qi stagnation and blood stasis occur, obstructing circulation, then choppy and strong pulse is present.

Considering Li Qianghui's purple tongue, thin coating, and symptoms, the judgment isn't difficult.
