Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 154: Laboratory_2

There were no personal belongings in the room, and two meals were delivered by designated personnel each day. However, thanks to her status as an insider, her meals included two extra slices of greasy luncheon meat compared to others.

Besides this, the daily ability tests were the highlights she looked forward to the most.

She was the 46th subject in the Tier One Evolver route experiment numbered 0135, and the only one who survived, having endured all phases of ability awakening.

Ultimately, she successfully advanced to the Tier One Evolver of the Manipulator Realm.

"Seed of Hatred"=Level 3 "Negative Emotion Control" + Level 2 "Emotion Perception" + Level 1 "Hatred Seed"

This was an entirely new ability, so the scientific researchers debated its name for many days.

Initially, they believed that triggering this profession required the Evolver to undergo extreme betrayal, abuse, or mental breakdown; however, they later discovered that as long as the Evolver harbored enough hatred, it sufficed.

Just like that Level 1 "Hatred Seed," which is the core of the entire profession.

The Evolver must plant a "Hatred Seed" in their heart and then cultivate it by absorbing various negative emotions to let it take root and grow.

Then the Hatred Seed would incessantly feedback power to the user.

The greater the hatred, the greater the ability.

Zhang Min relied on her deep-seated hatred towards the Trainmaster to successfully activate this obscure ability.

The research personnel, who were previously indifferent to her, avoided her these days, fearful of unknowingly incurring her hatred.

In reality, their worry was somewhat unnecessary, as Zhang Min's condition remained quite stable.

No matter what experiment, even those of a hurtful or humiliating nature, failed to cause significant emotional fluctuation for her.

Because the hatred towards the Trainmaster was so intense, others struggled to rank in Zhang Min's heart.

Moreover, this ability carried a psychological suggestion-like effect; now, even in dreams, Zhang Min eagerly anticipated her reunion with the Trainmaster.

By then, she believed she would have ascended to the top echelons of the Steel Council, while no matter how hard Su Huan tried, the train's capacity limit remained; commanding two thousand people was already the ceiling. She couldn't believe that a force of hundreds of thousands could not overpower one with merely two or three thousand.

How should the Trainmaster be dealt with by then?

Pure physical punishment wouldn't last long; perhaps a bit of psychological torment should be added, like confronting him at the peak of happiness...

Having thought of a suitable method, Zhang Min extended her fair left arm and began to gently peel off some skin with her fingernail, the vivid red blood reflecting the woman's enchanting smile.

This was her favorite fantasy time each day.

Even surpassing the ability tests, where she could observe her own progress.

Concealing the wound on her arm, Zhang Min operated on a schedule as precise as a stopwatch, despite the absence of a clock.

However, after ten minutes had passed, the researchers who observed her from outside had not appeared.

Zhang Min frowned.

She remained seated, motionless, and three minutes later, rapid footsteps sounded from outside the door. The male researcher who led her in said, "Your experiment is over; you can come out now. Next, your task is to follow me and do whatever I tell you to. Understand?"

The man feigned calmness, trying to make it seem no different from usual.

Yet Zhang Min could clearly sense the chaos and fear within him.

Was he afraid of her?

It had happened before, but the fluctuations were never this intense.

With a hint of confusion, Zhang Min quietly followed him out.

The man did not take her to a laboratory but instead to a simple changing room. The two changed clothes quickly in under a minute before heading to the tower's top.

Suddenly, the sound of running and rolling wheels came from behind.

Turning back, several researchers, protected by security personnel, were rushing a box with partially transparent windows toward the elevator.

The hearts of this group were filled with fear.

Yet, inside the box, it was surprisingly calm.

The man swiftly took her along, and the elevator ascended quickly, finally allowing her a glimpse of the mercury-like long hair inside the box.

As the elevator door opened, a cacophony of alarms, voices, and running footsteps instantly inundated her ears. Having been in a silent environment for a long time, Zhang Min felt a sudden sensation of temporal dislocation.

Outside there was a heavily armored truck, and security personnel in tactical vests holding guns patrolled nervously.

Various researchers packed up various items for loading onto the truck.

A crowd of people accompanied the white-haired Director Xu inside, who frowned upon seeing Zhang Min in civilian clothes and turned to the man beside her, "Why did you bring her up."

The man replied in a low voice, "I thought she's a Tier One Evolver, someone personally brought by Secretary Li, and could be useful."

Director Xu glanced at Zhang Min, observed her for any anomalies, and then asked, "Is everything packed?"

"Everything has been arranged."

"Get on the truck."

The two hurriedly stepped out, only to be halted by the security personnel.

Their opponent hoarsely growled, "When you go out later, don't make a sound, don't use lights! Under any circumstances, understand?!"

The man nodded repeatedly.

Yet Zhang Min seemed to have detected something, instinctively looking up at the sky outside.

Pitch black, nothing was visible.

But the moment they stepped out, the fierce flapping of wings in the sky and distant, occasionally fading corpse roars instantly changed the complexion of those present.

The security personnel pressed their heads down, urging them to bend forward as they moved ahead.

Zhang Min glanced around; outside, there were three heavy trucks, six or seven personnel carriers, and two vehicles modified specifically for clearing paths.
